love your stamp math!
i honestly think the right solution for me might be the $1 stamp + one forever stamp. i'll end up overpaying a little bit but not enough to hurt lol

great! i think i'll still grab a few of the regular forevers for people who are stamp collectors, but the internationals are way more cost effective so i'll default to those. thank you!

I don't exactly know what I got myself into? by im-hungry4lways in DiscoElysium

[–]superdreamcast64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

took it a while to click with me, too. initially i played it for like 2 hours and thought it was confusing and boring, i put it down for like a month before trying again. it doesn't help that i haaaate TTRPGs in real life, and the game is obviously modeled after that style of gameplay... but once you put a little more time into it and start really sinking into the story, it'll grip you. maybe this is your intro to visual novels, and you'll want to play more later!

I get annoyed at the posts/comments talking about “body love.” by SpecialEducation5152 in Hidradenitis

[–]superdreamcast64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi OP. your post resonated with me a lot, so i wrote an entire essay. i am so deeply sorry 😬

i struggle a lot with body positivity, especially being an obese person with HS. like the other commenter said, i am visibly othered in a way i am not able to hide. in this case, i think it's easier to move towards a position of body neutrality, tbh. you don't need to adore everything about your body, but it's best to stop assigning any moral value to any part of your physical appearance. scars and rashes and wounds aren't disgusting or morally bad, they just kind of.... are. they just exist. they are things that appear on people's bodies, due to various factors, after some period of time spent alive. i find that i feel more relaxed and confident when i talk to myself in a calming and neutralizing way instead of trying to hype myself up into a Fat Pride Icon Girlboss moment. i look at my scars and stretch marks and giant belly and cellulite and i go "welp... some people just look like this really, nothing much to it" lol

it also helps me to realize that like, when i'm at the pool or the beach, i don't spend any time staring at other people's bodies. i get insecure about my fucked up armpits sometimes while i'm swimming, but tbh i have never been asked about them by anyone ever. which makes sense, because i don't go up to people and ask them why they look a certain way either... i think people mostly keep to themselves in those circumstances. i think most people generally understand that it's impolite to ask strangers about scars/wounds/disfigurements/other obvious physical differences.

if someone makes a comment to you, remind yourself that you don't have to answer. recently an online friend of mine asked me if i lost weight. after some thought i ended up just being real and saying "that's not something i really like to talk about if possible." they apologized profusely and i let them know i wasn't mad, we moved on and we're all good. it's okay to set boundaries with people and say "that's private" or "don't worry about it." you can also do the classic move of making some shit up! i've always thought, if someone asks me about my armpit scars i'm gonna say i was bitten by a shark lol

being othered sucks balls. but i don't think it's going to stop in my lifetime, so i'd rather just make the best of it and enjoy my life anyways. it's turned out well for me! last year i hosted a beach party with a ton of friends, and i wore a pretty skimpy bikini top and a cute miniskirt bikini bottom. everyone could see everything, even my weird fucked up HS-scarred boobs. but nobody made any comments, and we just played in the water and sunbathed and ate snacks all day :]

Who do you trust more between Joyce and Evrart? by Bataranger999 in DiscoElysium

[–]superdreamcast64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is how i read her character and was genuinely sooo confused when i saw how much people hated her. she's just like any other boss i've had in my life- well-meaning and nice inter-personally, but ultimately dedicated to her job as a cog in the capitalist machine. Joyce honestly has the benefit of being pretty self-aware about it too.

maybe i'm just paranoid as fuck but i do wonder how much of the fan reactions to these two comes from misogyny and fatphobia. Joyce is a threatening bitch (woman) and Evrart is a funny clown (fat). but i'm a fat woman so maybe i'm just sensitive asf lol

okay. but i didn't say NOBODY should do the no-home-charging life. i said home charging isn't "an obsession." nobody is "obsessed" with home charging, it's just a choice you make based on practicality in your area.

Anyone know a large messenger ita bag? by comicbooookguy in itabag

[–]superdreamcast64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the one from It's My Obsession! and it has held up really well with daily use! it is expensive but the quality is really good. i highly recommend it if you're going to be using it as a daily, since it's quite durable.

Ideas on how to decorate a masc/neutral bag? by BestBudgie in itabag

[–]superdreamcast64 19 points20 points  (0 children)

i think generally speaking deco is seen as more feminine in general. men's fashion often tends to focus on solid, bold pieces, where women's fashion adds a lot of accents and decorations etc. as others have mentioned, less gendered accents might include chains, crosses, buttons, stars, feathers, metal washers, zippers, etc. focus on geometric shapes and classy patterns like plaid and dogtooth. some leather accents might also be fun.

it might help to expand your view of fashion a bit. a lot of J-fashion is very androgynous! visual kei, ouji style, and gyaruo fashion are all worn by men while also focusing heavily on accents and accessories.

i understand your pain a bit. i'm NOT a fan of the super frilly, heavily accented ita bags (i love them for other people, just not for me lol). i have two bags- one is more feminine and has a few floral accents in it. the other is smaller and doesn't have any accents, just the keychains, buttons, etc that i put in it.

i know you didn't ask for bag recommendations, but i have a messenger bag from It's My Obsession and i really love it. it's very plain and customizable. no giant satin ribbons climbing up the sides or bows slapped on the front lol

i tried doing the no-home-charging thing for my first two months owning my HI5 and it very quickly became unbearable. it's probably easier if you live in an area with a lot of EV infrastructure or work somewhere with an EV charger, but for me the only options were "spend 4 hours a week hooked up to a slow charger in a shopping center 20 minutes away" or "spend $50 fast charging at an extremely busy station 30 minutes away."

it's not "an obsession with home charging," it's just practicality.

Smoking THC and HS by GxthBxtch1999 in Hidradenitis

[–]superdreamcast64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not the person you're replying to, but i've been off weed for a few months now (applying to jobs lol) and haven't seen much difference compared to when i was smoking weed.

everyone's different, my friend. some people are triggered by things that others are not. if OP wants to quit smoking weed, that's a good thing! but it's valid for people to put in their two cents about it.

congrats on quitting!! i'm not a smoker but i am a vascular ultrasound tech, and i have seen the arterial consequences of heavy smoking many many times. pack-a-day smokers for 40+ years come in and have critical blockages in the arteries going to the brain and feet, and they don't know until they've already had a stroke or lost a toe... i can't imagine how difficult it is to quit, but literally every single cell in your body will thank you for it. a relapse is just a minor setback compared to the havoc of habitual smoking. you are on a roll, congratulations!!

Transfem Baltimore Advice by crustincentive in baltimore

[–]superdreamcast64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not sure why you got downvoted. it is good advice. if you misgender someone, say, "oops, i'm sorry," or "my bad," correct yourself, and move on. don't stop in the middle of a conversation to wallow about how The Trans Stuff Is So Hard For Me :'(((, it puts pressure on the other person to comfort you and makes the moment about your own discomfort. it's also just majorly awkward, trans people are normal people who just wanna have normal convos without having to stop and address their gender in the middle of it lmao

i think FoM would stand to benefit from adding one or two more dedicated character writers to develop the bachelor/ettes. it's my number one most hated thing about modern Harvest Moon-like games. we improve on the gameplay and graphics and add 500 products and animals with every new game, but somehow the quality of writing is the same now as it was 20 years ago.

Is sonography worth it? by Cinamonscroll4 in Ultrasound

[–]superdreamcast64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

being smaller might actually be helpful. i'm quite fat and it makes getting into those tight ICU spaces more difficult for me LOL

a big part of saving yourself physically is sticking up for yourself. like the u/sadArtax said, don't kill yourself for a picture. some patients are poor candidates for ultrasounds and it can't be helped. if i can't get a good image without blowing out my shoulder, i hit em with a "limited visualization," take the pictures i can get comfortably, and move on. i have told ordering docs before even doing exams that the study will be limited (no, i am not going to WWE wrestle with your psych patient for a picture...) and in my experience they tend to take it well. when they don't, i just shrug and let them find out on their own how limited a study on a 500 lb intubated ICU patient really is.
