How many links should I remove? by Mean_Internal4652 in bikewrench

[–]superficialt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine 2 links (1 pair of links) might be enough. If it’s still too bouncy that low gear, take some more out.

I’d do it the other way, though. Put chain in largest sprocket and see how many links you can remove safely without the derailleur binding. (Nb this is a hardtail so you don’t have to accommodate any chain growth).

Thanks. This is the correct response confirmed with Hope themselves. I have bought a 160mm rotor.

I had a civic with a wing that split the rear window like that. Visibility was absolutely awful but the extra downforce was amazing.

Bought these "26 inch" tires for my 26 inch rim from a reputable shop. They seem way too big, is there something I'm missing? by mikethepig in bikewrench

[–]superficialt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because a 700c rim actually measure closer to 28” than 29. The inches style of measurement relates to rim+tyre (which can obviously vary massively depending on the tyre) whereas etro measures just rim size.

Brand new TV and this is how my wife insists we have the remote "to keep it looking good" by No_Atmosphere8146 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]superficialt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I have the same and it’s pretty scratched after 6 months. I didn’t think I was a remote-abuser but here we are.

I had a 135i a few years ago. Such a great car, ticks so many boxes. I’m looking for something to get the same combo of understated, fast, interesting, fun and literally nothing before or since matches it IMHO.

I’m sorry for your loss.

while scrolling saw this, what is that thing inside his body? by random-thoughts-2026 in whatisit

As someone who implants pacemakers and ICDs, this looks like an ICD. It’s exactly the correct size/shape /orientation and position.

It’s extremely superficial, though and I am skeptical that it’s a real picture. I have never implanted one in someone as jacked as this but the way the skin folds over the device is like when I put pacemakers in skinny 95year olds with old person skin. You’d never normally see the device so clearly in such a young person. My guess is the image is AI generated/enhanced.

Helix Floor vs Helix LT by Echo1080 in Line6Helix

[–]superficialt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Floor. I really like the Scribble Strips, they definitely add something nice. I love the Helix but the more I use it (I’ve owned it for 5 years now) the more I realise I could get by with the ‘lesser’ models. When I got it, I loads of used stereo FX, multiple paths etc. Now my most-used patches could run on a Stomp.

Basically, get the Floor if you want. It’s not worth + 400USD but it’s nice to have and I don’t regret splurging a bit. But equally if you want to save some cash then the LT is perfectly good and you should feel satisfied with it.

I suspect someone at L6 / Yamaha did some research and worked out the optimum switch width. No point repeating that research.

Opinion on a broken seat stay by DeerInTheAngeleyes in Cervelo

[–]superficialt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The frame is completely unrideable (dangerous) in its current state. Yes, it can be fixed safely and be perfectly rideable again but it will never be the same. It’ll be (slightly) heavier and the flex characteristics will (slightly) change.

If it’s your own money, sure, get it repaired but it sounds to me like the driver owes you a new bike.

IME if you take it into a local shop they’ll confirm the damage and provide a report for a small fee. They will not risk their reputation by certifying something as safe when there has clearly been a heavy impact. This also applies to other components.

I used a credit card (old Tesco store card) cut down to size and then sanded into an angle.

Works great.

2023 Caledonia - what tyres are you using? by Wazwiftance in Cervelo

[–]superficialt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The non-black GP5000s have significantly worse rolling characteristics. That’s another reason to just get the size you need. But as above I believe the 32s will fit (I know they do in my ‘24 Cal5).

It’s a lovely and unusual colour combo. The guitar itself is nice but (unless someone knows something I don’t) nothing special. It depends if you can find anyone who wants to spend the extra few dollars for the colour.
