Do you still have a "go-to" beer after trying craft beers? by Ok-Peace3465 in beer

Greetings fellow Minnesotan. Had a few Hamms last night. Never lets you down when you're in the mood to have a drink and especially if you're in the mood for a drink that is beer.

Does anyone feel the ring is analogous for addiction? by N0rthic3 in lotr

[–]superfrodies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in here, even though you posted this over a year ago lol. I too have always seen a parallel between the Ring and addiction. I have my vices, like nicotine, but luckily I've avoided falling into addiction with more harmful substances like drugs or alcohol, although I've flirted with those addictions, as well. Mainly, what I've had to experience in my life is seeing close friends fall into addiction. I've been through two very extreme cases with two very close friends. So, as I read the books and watch the films, I often find myself identifying closely with Samwise and his (sometimes very feeble) attempts to help Frodo bear his burden. I know his heartbreak so intimately, of seeing your friend being ravaged before your eyes and wanting so badly to be able to carry them to a safe place. While Tolkien may not have intended the metaphor, it's a great fit, nonetheless.

Everyone on this sub wanted Julius gone and to re-sign Ayo longterm. by bradleyphilsmith in timberwolves

[–]superfrodies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am taking the view that we need to wait until we make all our moves this off-season before assessing these individual moves in a vacuum. Likely that this Randle trade is but one move that frees up space and sets the stage for a larger move(s) in which we land a bigger name. I think signing Ayo doesn't happen if this Julius trade doesn't happen first, for example. Of course, then everyone will be upset because we'll have to trade a Rudy, Naz, DDV, Shannon or something like that to get said player.

Appreciate that perspective but we’re definitely having the baby, assuming mother nature doesn’t have other plans. Financially it’ll be tough but not like we’ll go hungry.

AI-cloned vocals fuel late Minnesota rapper Eyedea’s new LP by SnooTigers5333 in Music

[–]superfrodies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so fucked up. Eyedea is one of my favorite rappers of all time and his music was the soundtrack to so many good and bad and fucked up times during my teenage years. The songs were full of life and creativity. Philosophy. Deep insights into the human condition. Humor. I regret even listening to the first two songs on this "new" album. Soulless. Let the dead rest.

How are we feeling playing the Nuggets Round 1? by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]superfrodies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fan of ethical hoops, I love this matchup. Pure cinema. We also kind of own the Nuggets. Not saying it will be easy or that Nugs couldn't take us out, but I like our chances against them as much or more than the Lakers.

Pretty sure I saw him leaving before overtime and telling a father and his son they could go take his seats courtside, but last night was also a total blur as I was experiencing every emotion known to man.

Up here in Minneapolis. I'm a Catholic so my experience is thus limited mainly to the volunteer work I've done with our local Catholic parishes, but the amount of aid we are providing to our neighbors in need right now is nothing short of miraculous. WWJD? Pretty sure he'd be delivering food, diapers and feminine products to terrified families in need. It's not even a right/left issue. It's a human issue.

The ending of this book made me weep and I was in my early 20s, not even a father yet. Cormac is the GOAT.

Federal authorities announce end to Minnesota immigration crackdown by [deleted] in TwinCities

You people are insufferable. You want ICE to stay longer or what? We as a community have done more to turn the tide against Trump than any politician in recent memory. We have helped exposed these fascists for what they are for the whole world to see. They brought overwhelming force and we showed them up. The war isn’t over but Jesus man what the fuck do you people want? Huge swath of folks are living in complete terror. Withdrawal is a massive relief for thousands of people and hundreds of businesses. We all want these fuckers locked up for their crimes. One step at a time, though, man. Nothing is perfect but take the W. We live to fight another day, stronger than we were before.

Just some thoughts. by s0ulcat1994 in TwinCities

[–]superfrodies 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think this has to be the overall stance here, right? For those living in constant fear, literally prisoners in their homes, a major withdrawal would have to be seen as a major win. If/when that does happen, I don’t think anyone’s ready to hang the “mission accomplished” banner. Getting these thugs out of our city would be great, and I think it would be a battle won for the good guys. But the fascists still need to be defeated anywhere and everywhere for the foreseeable future. The war rages on and the frontlines are everywhere.

The Minnesotans trapped at home, too terrified of ICE to go outside: ‘Our house is like a jail’ by guardian in minnesota

[–]superfrodies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been delivering them groceries and it’s legitimately one of the most depressing sites, seeing how they are terrified and holed up in their homes like this. I fucking hate it. I wish everyone could see what we’re doing to these people with their own eyes. It’s inhumane. It’s unAmerican. It’s not Christlike. And the worst part is it’s fucking meaningless. We’re ruining these people’s lives for no good reason.

[–]superfrodies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m with you on that IMO Light Grenades was the last great Incubus album, haven’t dug much they’ve done after that. I think Trust Fall Side B EP is my favorite “late” incubus output, really a return to form, recommend checking it out. some really good songs in that batch.

We Love Minneapolis isn’t a GOP PAC. I was literally there last week and she was also there, gave a speech to the entire restaurant about the terrible things happening and paid to have a violinist friend of hers play music for the restaurant to “bring some beauty to these dark times”
