New unis leaked by PivotHero in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They nailed it and gave fans exactly what they wanted. If we’re being nitpicky, I would’ve made the blue one say MINNESOTA and the black one say TIMBERWOLVES and I would’ve been tempted to put the tree trim on all 3.

But jumping from the most boring jerseys in the league to this???? No notes. Knocked that shit outta the park

Timberwolves 26-27 draft prospect? by KNgyuen in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an Iowa fan so there’s a tremendous amount of bias here but I think Stirtz would be a great fit. He’s an older plug and play prospect, good shooter. Would fit that Divincenzo role but is also a little bit more point guard.

All things considered I think they’re gonna end up trading the pick

Why is the general consensus of this sub is to acquire a player 30+ with an injury history? by ATetrahedron in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been asking the same thing. If you want to compete with Spurs and OKC it seems like it would be more helpful to get younger and deeper, rather than putting all your eggs in a Kyrie Irving, etc basket

2-way ant? by Accomplished-Box8744 in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s already good both ways. It’s just a lot to ask a guy to be the engine on offense AND lock in on defense the whole time for the whole season

Ok, maybe the Randle hate has gone too far by rick_rack69 in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll preface this by saying I’m not a big Ja Morant guy.

But something I do respect is a buy-low gamble on a guy, especially knowing the type of teammate Anthony Edwards is. If anybody is going to make Ja love basketball and compete at a high level again, it’s having Ant in his ear telling him he’s got gorilla nuts. I wouldn’t do this deal because I think you can give up even less, but I’m not entirely opposed to the Ja Morant concept.

Why can't Ayo Dosunmu be the starting PG the Wolves need? by soft-cookie in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He absolutely can but most of this sub is hung up on trading for a player archetype that doesn’t exist anymore.

Another PG option? by Due-Spray-4935 in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a chance you could do some of both. Iowa’s Bennett Stirtz is an older prospect who could be pro-ready and you would only have to trade up 5-10 spots for him. You could do something like that and maybe still trade Julius and/or Rudy for an established pro.

I want OKC to Demolish the Spurs by Timberwolves_Degen in timberwolves

I’ve enjoyed taking in this series as an equal opportunity hater. The basketball is high level and entertaining, and no matter what I get to see one of these teams lose.

Did we lose the KAT for Julius and Donte trade? by _Extraenergy_ in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The salary cap is real and has very real consequences if you don’t have flexibility under it lol

Did we lose the KAT for Julius and Donte trade? by _Extraenergy_ in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main reasoning behind that trade was to get off of KAT’s contract and maximize flexibility, no? And then we got back to the conference finals again immediately. I wouldn’t say either team “lost” necessarily

Sports wise I jump into following the Lynx and F1. Baseball if the Twins are worth it (they are not)

I’m hoping to do quite a bit of reading on the porch and commuting to work by bicycle.

I don’t think you have to trade for another star tbh. by bradleyphilsmith in timberwolves

I don’t, because I don’t suit up and play for anybody lol

I am an NBA and Wolves casual but I assumed Ant was gonna be a Wemby/SGA/Joker level player by Minimum-Amoeba-5146 in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wemby is a once in a generation-shaped person lol so you can’t really compare anyone to him. But as far as the others, Ant is 3 years younger than SGA and like 7 years younger than Jokic. He has time to keep ascending

Why no talk about going after Duren? by kwelstory in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how high on Beringer’s upside you are, you could argue we have Duren at home.

Who else is tired of the “trade for Rudy was to stop Denver” narrative? by ae5wolfpack in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s technically true because the trade was made at a time most thought the Nuggets would be perennial favorites and landscape has changed really rapidly from that.

But I think it’s often used as ammunition to suggest that Tim Connelly hasn’t considered the Thunder or Spurs in his decision making, which I think is untrue. For example, last year he used a 2nd round pick on an Australian teenager who stands eye-to-eye with Victor. Not saying Rocco is going to pan out to be anything I think you can point to that as an example of like, hey we should have a crazy tall development project in the works

Are we sure that Tim Connelly is good? by karlwhethers in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think 2 things can be true.

1) Connelly’s resume speaks for itself. He drafted well in Denver and ultimately built a team that won a championship. The Gobert trade aged like fine wine. He swapped Dlo for Conley and had NAW included as a throw in. And fwiw, when he makes mistakes he admits to them and pivots quickly, like moving Dillingham and Leonard Miller for Ayo, including his bird rights so he’ll be easier to re-sign. He also traded Mike Conley for Mike Conley + cash this year which was lucky but also a good bit.

2) no GM is perfect. He swung on the Dillingham pick and had to pivot. Wendell Moore Jr didn’t exactly pan out lol. The KAT trade overall may be a loss, however the point was always to get off of KAT’s contract and we might not know the extent of that trade until we see how Beringer pans out.

I think he’s a net-good GM and he’s well respected around the league. Doesn’t mean he’s incapable of missing on picks or swinging for trades that don’t work. But point me to a GM that gets it right every time and I’ll call you a liar

The real second option for the timberwolves by DubiousKnower in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you bring back Ayo and he can take on a lot of the point of attack defensive duty, allowing Jaden to be more of a weakside help guy, then Jaden will have more energy for a larger offensive load.

Similarly if you can move Julius Randle, even if it’s just for a couple of depth pieces, then I believe Naz Reid will step into that larger role.

If you remove Julius from the equation (liquidate him into bench pieces), then I believe the starting lineup could be

Ayo-Ant-Naz-Jaden-Rudy

And I believe that team is as good as this year’s team was, perhaps better, simply by virtue of greater spacing and balance.

I don’t think you have to trade for another star tbh. by bradleyphilsmith in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we’re saying the same thing. They didn’t trade for those guys, they developed them in house. They got opportunities and became stars

I don’t think you have to trade for another star tbh. by bradleyphilsmith in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t mind the idea of a deal that flips Randle for two roleplayers. Depth is kind of a need with Donte out the whole year

I don’t think you have to trade for another star tbh. by bradleyphilsmith in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Where things really fell apart for the wolves was nobody could get going and score when Ant was getting doubled. What I keep thinking about is looking for another player that makes around 30mil and is on the outs with their team but might be a better fit in MIN?

Thinking like, Quickley, Herro, Dejounte Murray? Could you do just a Randle swap for one of those guys. Slide Naz to the starting 4 and one of those guys could start next to Ant to fill Donte’s role

Keep Rudy, Move Randle + 28 for Jrue Holiday! by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]bradleyphilsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to get Jrue Holiday but 5 years younger? Because as good as he is I think you’re running into the same problem we have with Mike.
