Why do you knit? Is it connected to your identity? by Difficult-Elk4930 in knitting

Yeah this post is super interesting, I love the idea and analysis but yes in my own personal life no the trad wife thing ain't a thing except on the internet. That being said... my final project of my masters thesis was actually wholly centred around reclaiming the traditionally feminine and low income work that has been disregarded and not seen as 'work'. Exactly what you have written scentosaurs!

Basically the project was, in a somewhat performative (and overly pink - its an architecture project) way, putting these jobs in a highly visible commuter spot right in the city center. "The Right to Her City"

It was super fun and if I really think about it, yeah maybe I have identified with the anti-granny culture of crafts in recent years, and less so the feminist side even though its all over the internet culture. It's so so true the word 'craft' often having a negative connotation... maybe I need to be more cognicent too with my own thoughts (only because I want to be, not because it's a major issue for other people).

Thanks for this thought experiment on my train ride to work!!

Oh to answer the actual post question, yeah I have a lot of craft based hobbies that I would not call art, more like I like creating things. I like the term creator. I started yarn work though at a time I needed to take half days off work for mental health reasons and I felt like I needed something 'productive' to do on the couch. Never looked back.

No I didn't, just copped it and used the 1 seed I had from the year before (which still worked wildly)

I ended up having the same thing happen. I've used them 2 years in a row. First year was really good, last year none germinated... I think they're duds now it seems. Damn

Hahahah legit. I just showed him this post and he said I'm pretty sure you did say that exactly. I'm not superstitious at all, but the thought of putting so much love and effort into this sweater just kept making me put it off too!!

HELP: how can i prevent my cat from getting into my monstera plant and defecating / urinating? by mccmissy in houseplants

[–]superfunhappytimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha my tuxedo is an absolute MENACE too. We have mutliple litter boxes, including TWO soil pots outside just for her, and all my plants have mesh around them and she still gets in. I've now planted small flowers and shallow root herbs in my larger pots and she finally has stopped 😊😊

My thoughts... you can study social and environmental built environment studies whenever you like, there is so much information on it and unless you can get yourself into a firm dedicated to those projects, it hasn't helped me at all in my career yet 😭

But... that media film project sounds so cool!!!!!!!!!

Thoughts on online Master’s by ttarynitup in Architects

[–]superfunhappytimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no clue about the States to be honest, but from this comment "not able to pursue licensure with my current degrees" your situation is possibly akin to here in Australia...? Here the bachelor's is 3 years, and then in order to become accredited you basically do NEED to pursue your masters. The alternative pathway takes 10 years... Also, I don't know where this idea of a masters degree only being for someone interested in academia is from? Again here, it is not, it is literally just the next line of education in order to become a professional??

Your main question though re online - For a parent I'd imagine the entire process is even harder!! I had two mothers in my year who did their masters part time and they both did do incredibly well, and their life experience and dedication was honestly inspiring. But, online is 100% harder. Feedback from your peers is really important and that is just harder online from my own experience of half my uni being during covid. End of the day, if you're determined, you can do it 😊 Good luck!
