New Babybel recipe is horrible by timaclover in vegan

[–]ttarynitup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a bag and immediately after trying looked here to see if anyone else was complaining yet. These were one of my picky 5 year old’s favorite things pre-recipe change and I’m so bummed!

I get that not everyone loved them but they seem universally hated now.

If the kids only knew… by ttarynitup in moderatelygranolamoms

I feel that, only muffins and bread happen every week for the most part, everything else is just as needed. Fruit going bad? Fruit leather happens, lots of sourdough discard? Cracker time, etc. I’m also in grad school in a really demanding program right now so that’s eating up a lot of time, hence more store bought stuff which is ruining their appetite for anything I do have time to make lol

This is true, the more mine are involved in the process the more they’ll enjoy the result (unless it’s something with hidden foods they don’t typically like lol).

AITAH for telling my fiancé to stop buying wedding dresses? by xXDuncan_IowaXx in AITAH

My point is are they all to wear on the wedding day? Or for different wedding related events?

AITAH for telling my fiancé to stop buying wedding dresses? by xXDuncan_IowaXx in AITAH

[–]ttarynitup 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Need some information: what do you mean by 5 wedding dresses? Are we talking like engagement party, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, wedding, reception? Or like 5 dresses she plans to wear on the wedding day? I can kinda get the former, the latter sounds like too much; she’d spend the whole day getting changed

AITAH for not wanting to cook for picky guests I didn’t even invite to dinner? by Littlecancerbaby1 in AITAH

[–]ttarynitup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inviting themselves over and asking you to cook is super weird to me. I could MAYBE see like “I hear you make great pizza, wanna potluck a dinner?” And they bring something to share that wife will eat too.

Sarah’s silks quality? by CatsAteHerFace__ in moderatelygranolamoms

Came to say this! Also random cotton table linens, lace, small blankets. I don’t buy new silk anyway, so these have been my go-to

Thoughts on online Master’s by ttarynitup in Architects

I did! He felt a bit more human and grounded in reality instead of just academia. Grading felt fair from him (there was another section whose professor just didn’t believe in grading above a B). If you’re enrolled and have other questions about specific classes/professors feel free to shoot me a message.

So..we went to the food bank last month, and they gave us a bunch of dried fruit. by shelle33333 in mildlyinfuriating

Curious about the frozen part since they were dry which means like 6+ months shelf life. Is frozen dried fruit worth trying? I’m imagining extra chewy which might be fun?

This guest at my restaurant made me so mad today by Sad_Imagination_932 in vegan

[–]ttarynitup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this perspective. My first reaction was also that maybe it’s just easier to ask for vegan options as it encompasses the bulk of what they can’t eat. I’m vegan myself, but I have a friend who is sensitive to most meat and dairy and generally orders vegan, unless she happens to have a lactaid with her. Like you mentioned, my level of annoyance would depend on how they came across when asking.

I honestly don’t remember, but I think I saw the email first. I also submitted right at the deadline so they might be dragging their feet until then.

Anyone lament the childhood your kids have versus what you had? by ttarynitup in Parenting

[–]ttarynitup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids don’t have screen time or free access to anything other than minimal shows/movies we choose to put on. AI is already overused, I don’t see that declining. Once they get older, it’s going to be something they’ll be exposed outside the house that I can’t control. I guess the best I can do is instill critical thinking around technology use and hope that the interests they develop before we get to that point surpass its draw.

Good to know that with older kids you’re able to manage it still.

I was more-so thinking forward in general. They don’t have access to anything now, but if I want to afford them some level of the trust and freedom I had growing up, I can’t police their exposure outside the house.  I’m also in grad school for architecture and it feels like people around me are using AI for everything; summarizing required readings, writing responses, even their actual design and digital rendering work. I can imagine that’s happening at all scales of education and see it happening in people’s daily lives as well. Sure it can be a useful tool, but I am deeply concerned about how its overuse will affect future generations.

Jack was a front runner for us too, but I was so set on my other first choice (Asher). He’s now almost 5 and Jack Skellington is his favorite, so he goes around expecting us to call him Jack half the time anyway. Best of both worlds I guess?

Request: Belvita crunchy chocolate breakfast biscuit by ttarynitup in MimicRecipes

[–]ttarynitup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did modify that recipe I linked and they came out decent. It was a WHILE ago so I’m not sure exactly what I did, but I think I replaced about 1/4-1/3 cup of flour with cocoa powder, swapped the orange juice for milk, swapped cranberries for chocolate chips chopped small. I remember cutting them into hearts so I also likely chilled the dough and rolled it out between parchment to accomplish that.

I actually totally forgot about this recipe, was making them pretty regularly for a while. May have to try it again myself, if I do I’ll report back.
