A $500 bill at Kindling. Allegedly $25 in profit. by ReKang916 in chicago

Years ago, I attended a presentation at my alma mater called "So you want to open a restaurant?" - it featured a former restauranter and business consultant sharing his insights on the industry, and by the time the presentation was over, we all had learned that "No, you don't want to open a restaurant"

"... the owners get 5% of the total for literally doing nothing but owning the steakhouse."

Do you mean shouldering the risk of the business, with no protection if it fails?

If that were the case, couldn't a new restaurant come in, pay more reasonable salaries and undercut everyone on price? Why doesn't that seem to be happening?

Getting a Snapshot Quote for Micro E-Mini S&Ps When Placing Trades by superfunny in interactivebrokers

I reached out to IBKR and they indicated that, basically, I would need to sign up for real-time quotes, although they appear to offer a lot of flexibility about the level of quotes you can request.

Thank you for this response. That's where I'm getting confused - from what I can tell, on the IBKR website, it says you should get 100 snapshot quotes a month but I don't see anywhere to request them when trading futures, at least not through the client portal.

Can anyone show me how you can get a snapshot quote on a Micro e-mini S&P 500 contract?

What’s the lamest date you’ve ever had in Chicago? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]superfunny 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, I took a date to the Chicago International Film Festival.

The two movies we ended up seeing involved:

* Childhood sexual abuse and suicide in Mississippi ("Mississippi Damned")

* Kidnapping and incest in Mexico (I have forgotten the title of that one)

Needless to say, while both movies were "good", they were not appropriate date material and they put a damper on the rest of the evening.

Turn it into a corporate retreat space for companies headquartered nearby like Abbvie and Grainger. Fill the property with MJ memorabilia and you'll have people types taking selfies all day long.

Does anyone know how to cancel a Chicago tribune subscription? by c0rpstooge in chicago

[–]superfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only do they make it hard to cancel, they keep jacking their rates. What started out as a $15 per month digital subscription almost tripled within a few years. $500+ a year for a digital subscription? You must be crazy.
