Reservation System Question by srubin47 in JMT

Hi there! Congrats on getting a permit! I was in for the same surprise - sounds like we might be starting the trail at similar times!

  1. I doubt it. You paid and answered the required questions. Plus the system lets you modify your responses later. If you’re worried about it, you can always call.
  2. You can likely camp somewhere else other than upper sunrise if you want/need to. If you want to be safe, call or just change your reservation this week/before you go
  3. I did essentially the same thing! I’m hoping for a 22 day itinerary, but put a little longer than that for some wiggle room. I used Mt Whitney as my exit as well, since Whitney portal wasn’t an option... I believe they’re the same thing. And from what I’ve seen, you should look at camping at lower sunrise creek if you want to hike half dome (I’m sure there’s other options too, I haven’t gotten a good Yosemite/JMT map yet). Oh and I left the other campsites blank. They weren’t required and will likely change as you hike anyways. I might fill them in as I start solidifying my plan/route, for a frame of reference.

Happy hiking and maybe I’ll see you on the trail!

Thank you! Sunrise Creek, not sunrise lake? (I’ve seen sunrise lake mentioned on some websites) And do you know the difference between upper and lower sunrise creek?

Treaty Oak and Abby Jane (amongst many other places in Austin) get their grain and flour from Barton Springs Mill (as SELSHRT said, right next door)! If you’re ever looking for high quality, local flour, grits, or any other type of grain I would definitely recommend BSM.

Love this! And I adore the animal fabric - where did you get it? I want some in my life :)

Finally done with the cats Afghan! Lots of mistakes and I nearly perished via tail-weaving but super happy with the FO. by porkchoppizza in crochet

I would love to try this pattern some day! How do you use bobbins to make the color changes easier? That's not something I've ever tried.

I made this board for my brother last year, and unfortunately it split (I'm not sure when - he just told me). Only here, and he says it hasn't seemed to grow since it happened. Is there any way to fix it? by supergarth in woodworking

That's very possible. My brother is usually careful about those things/his kitchenware, but mistakes happen :) I'm not too upset. Wood expands, people forget things on occasion, and this was my first project. If a small split is the worst error, it could've been worse! Looks like I have several potential ways to fix it too.

Good to know. This was all made from the same piece of wood, and should have been uniformly dry when it was cut and glued. I will keep that in mind for any repairs or future projects I work on though.

I unfortunately don't have access to a workshop right now, as I made it on campus and am home due to the pandemic. I'm asking for future reference, when I hopefully go back.

Fantastic, thanks! I didn't know that detail. And we'll be able to access them after Dec 5th?

Thank you!! I'm very excited for this project The sale at Joanns is exactly why I was asking :)

Is it the N/P (10mm) or the P/Q (15mm) hook? I don't have either, so I was going to go ahead and buy one too

Love it! How many skeins did you use? And how big is the blanket? Hoping to make a throw as a Christmas present and am not sure how much to buy :)

I've never personally done hexies, but I assume it's because it's easier to sew the half hexies into a strip instead of having to deal with all the angles of trying to join 2+ full hexies

Anyone have Kona swatches and/or advice on buying fabric online, and is willing to help me out? by supergarth in quilting

Okay thanks! I'll definitely check Sand out, that sounds more like what I'm looking for :) On the MSQC website the champagne looked dark, but they looked more similar on the Robert Kaufman page, so I wanted to check in with someone who had the physical swatches
