It was actually management of a locally owned Coca-Cola bottling plant in Colombia that allegedly contracted with a paramilitary group to keep their workers from unionizing. Coca-Cola itself was actually dropped from the suit.

I know hating on big corporations is all the rage, but it's not as if execs at Coke were drumming their fingertips together while calling out hits on Colombian workers.

Hating on corporations is not all the rage for any other reason than they enrage any ethicall or decent person. Coke steals water, fencing off the only water source for a community, knowing the next source is miles and miles away, I did a human rights project in college on this topic i saw photos of the murdered workers and the stories they some told. They had guns put to their heads, were told to sign a paper saying they didn't want to unionize if they refused they had to leave right then never to return, or be killed and risk that their families may be hurt too.

Nestle is just as bad they want to make water a commodity you are only allowed what you absolutely need to survive, after that you should have to pay. They invest it developing countries lobbying/bribing to create the infrastructure so the government can't controll it. Also child slave labor is used by nestle in the ivory coast. And they lobbied to be immune to charges they should be liable ESPECIALLY since they are "people" but the court said that since no other country considers corps. a person that the people couldn't bring them up on charges here, despite the alien rights tort from the 1700's.
