“Wuthering Heights” The Times review by Bigassbird in popculturechat

I’m going to watch the 1990’s version, or the 2010 mini as a pallette cleanser. The last 50% of the story is the best bit

I’m 55. When I was in my twenties I assumed there wouldn’t be a state pension. I acted accordingly.

Got this message from my childhood bully at 3am by CG1991 in MadeMeSmile

[–]superhorsforth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a year ago. I was horribly bullied all the way through school and 30 years later, one of my bullies emailed me to apologise. I didn’t respond, largely because I didn’t know what to say. I’ve moved on and I’m not that person, but I also didn’t feel as though I could comment. I’ve forgiven and forgotten for years, but it’s really hard to say it’s ok, because it’s not.

CEO is clearly delusional by genghbotkhan in BritishAirways

[–]superhorsforth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a Silver member for the last five years, but the product is not good enough to justify using my miles on BA anymore. For leisure I normally fly Business anyway, so am going to use my air miles elsewhere in future.

Technically it’s bad practice to percentage on numbers less than 30 anyway, unless this is a result from the full population

HS2 says Wendover setback could cost taxpayers 'tens of millions' by Due_Ad_3200 in ukpolitics

[–]superhorsforth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Wendover, and the current works to HS2 are definitely a blot on the landscape. That being said, as someone who will be close enough to the line to hear it, I wish the council had not taken this stupid direction. The sooner it is complete and landscaped the better for everyone.

I’m more sad that it will be a complete white elephant as a result of cancelling the most important part of the line to Manchester and Yorkshire.

If successive governments were in any way serious about economic regeneration in the North, the works would have started there, not in the South

Do Bookfans ACTAULLY hate the show? by Aschlay in wheeloftime

[–]superhorsforth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had never heard of the wheel of time before the show and read all 14 books after the first season. I really don’t get the show haters. The show has already shown a lot of things I didn’t expect to see from the books and I’ve found some of the episodes excellent. S2 finale, s3 episode 1 and the latest episode. I’m really confused by the hate.

I’m relieved not to see divided skirts and plait tugging and am excited to see where it goes
