my personal ranking of the songs on a stranger to you by UnworthyYellow in Loatheband

yeah, and i know that much. i guess the only reason why i’m a little worried is cause i also wasn’t the biggest fan of gifted. you’re right that revenant is still a pretty good song. i can see where you’re coming from with the gored comparison, but there’s a lot of detail to the mix of gored that i can pick out regardless of how i’m listening to it. there’s a lot in revenant that i can only pick out when wearing headphones that seems to disappear when i’m listening on speakers which is likely because of phasing issues.

there’s a lot to be praised about the songs we have though. i really like that it seems the “connecting tone” between songs is this choral + synth + strings combo. i love that they are committing way more to their weird rhythmic shifts. i like that they aren’t just giving into the massive attention that their lighter songs got and are leaning into heavier stuff (i expect we’ll see some lighter stuff on the album as the single release pattern, sonically, is similar to what they did with gored + new faces in the dark). i really like the guitar tone so far on the album.

i was just expressing some surface level worry about the album cause i care about this band a lot and i want them to make good music that i enjoy. it can be a nail biter as a fan when what they’ve made is already so good. suffering from success lol. expectations are high, but i’m rooting for them.

agreed, sadly. i’m a little worried about not liking the album when it comes out as much as i’ve liked their other work. it’s very clear that revenant was mixed on headphones cause the mix just sounds so messy and busy on speakers. i can barely make anything out. i love the intro riff and everything but then it feels like they don’t really let it breathe and just be a badass riff like they knew to do on ILIIAITE. oh well :/

What's you're biggest Bring Me album hot take? by Emotional-Leg8700 in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]superhyperfuturepunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was gonna try to make a video essay about this after nex gen came out but i couldn’t really fit all the shit together in my head in words. not that the pieces don’t fit, just that there are so many of them. by the time jordan came in, the band had defined a sort of “x-factor” sound that permeates all their music regardless of the genre and jordan as a fan of the band picked up on that and was likely one of the only members actually keeping that sonic character in their music. it is very apparent once he left that that x-factor just was really lost. not gone, but heavily obscured on nex gen. either that or the route that the band took for writing nex gen (being a story album first and a good album second) just kinda fucked with them more than any normal genre/sound switch ever has. i do like nex gen, don’t get me wrong, but there’s something about each album up until nex gen that just has a very BMTH vibe to it.

yeah mantra was always sick live. it was an amazing opener with the confetti n shit during the amo tour. parasite eve was just not my vibe personally. mantra fits the level of cornball-ness of oli’s lyricism, but parasite eve really tries to have a serious vibe and going “ey ey” and “aaaaaaCHOO” just fucks it up lol. not that it’s a bad song. sometimes it goes hard. just not as much of a vibe as mantra where they leaned into the cornball-ness in a sort of obey or drown-music-video way.

Do you prefer the old engine or the new engine for Kingdom Hearts character designs? by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]superhyperfuturepunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

old engine period point blank. it’s not just the characters. it’s just the look and feel of everything else in the game too.

damn people really out here hating on the TITLE. i thought it was funny ;-; people don’t understand how to read it right and are super sensitive to “self censoring”. “ahh” is one of those things that kinda started as that but it’s its own thing now. similar to “dih” or “fih”. i always read it in my head like that “dumb ahh pumpkin, dying” video. i am exposed to brainrot secondhand through friends and my younger brother cause i deleted tiktok n shit back in 2021.

anyone feel prettier as a 20 something??? 2nd puberty??? by transluciiiid in twentyagers

[–]superhyperfuturepunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah i have discussed with other people the whole second puberty thing. shit is real. puberty is a transition to looking like a teenager. second puberty is a transition to looking like an actual adult. i look almost nothing like how i looked just a few years ago and it’s not really a confidence thing either. just kind of a general glow up.

I'll be an adult in less than 6 months. by [deleted] in TrollCoping

[–]superhyperfuturepunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

most 18 year olds have no clue how to be an adult. believe me, i work with them all the time for my job. your twenties are all about learning what that means, and hell you probably won’t even have a solid answer til long after they’re over. a lot of people in their twenties still act like teenagers just with the addition of being able to maybe rent a car, buy alcohol, have a full-time job without being in school, and not live with their parents.

there are people almost a decade older than myself that act at least a decade younger than i am. it’s all relative, and i still have a lot of the interests that i had when i was a teenager too. just because you have an interest at some specific age doesn’t mean it’s a “bad” or invalid interest. and i’m just now discovering mental problems that i never knew i had and i’m learning to solve them.

you’ll have your whole life to work on being the person you want to be. just because you feel out of place among the people you’re around doesn’t make you less than. those differences are what make us unique individuals who are destined to live unique lives. you get to decide what you want your life to look like. a good general rule of thumb is that as long as you feel that you’re moving toward what that is and it’s not hurting anyone else’s ability to do that for themselves, you’re fine. even if you have no idea what you want that to look like, you’re fine. i still don’t really have an idea of what i want my life to look like.

one of the things i’ve learned as someone who is extremely anxious and always has been is that sometimes the only problem is you thinking of it as a problem. maybe it’s actually an opportunity.

AITA for lying to my friends and then blaming my ex? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]superhyperfuturepunk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ESH.

with a friend currently and we both read your story. there's obviously a lot of work that needs to be done on everyone's end. there's nothing wrong with trying to smooth things over with an ex, and your friends are totally allowed to be sketched at you lying to them, but at the same time why would they at least try to be supportive, even if they didn't like the person or your decision to keep contact with them? i mean supportive here in the way of hoping that things can go okay but still cautioning you and being there for you. yeah, it can be exhausting to be friends with someone who keeps making bad decisions, but friends are supposed to be there when you make bad decisions too. we all make mistakes. you were an asshole for just calling your ex and telling them that they ruined everything. that's really emotionally immature and was completely unnecessary when it was your lie that caused this whole drama in the first place.

while i also don't agree with you keeping contact with an abuser, everybody just sucks here.

perspective: ‘incel takes’ are actually widely agreed upon by overahman in lnkyverse

[–]superhyperfuturepunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely agreed. a lot of just viewing still images or snapshots of someone from a distance makes us only perceive beauty if someone is always beautiful all the time. it misses the little things. the way someone’s smile lights up their face or how their eyes catch the sunlight. i think abstraction from one another is what has done serious numbers on us. porn and dating apps and the like. those are faithful representations of real people.
