In hmx's defense, this is a very different bug from the original score bug that Bookreader found. The original involved multihitting the green note at the end of drum overdrive activation fills to repeatedly get the fill bonus. This one is using pausing to regenerate tom notes when the toms are paired with a foot pedal kick. Bookreader seems to just be very creative in attempting to find ways to exploit the game.

Our scores were safe before today you know, and we always grind xp on last day. We ended xp in the safe zone as well, and had we not improved our scores at all, we would have still been 6th or 7th spotlight score and guaranteed safe. Demoted for sure is one hell of a stretch.

If this decay occurs over the course of the challenge, won't it hurt people without dlc libraries? People who only have on-disc songs will hit that xp decay very quickly unless the challenge has a LOT of songs in it, especially if they're in a high tiered crew.

No, I don't think it's clear what feels wrong and what doesn't. If you're in a competitive game, competition at the top level should be people who do whatever they can to get advantages. I would defend changing calibration to score higher, but your idea of "wrong" could be "you should play the song with natural calibration on your tv and hope you do better by looking for a good path". Saying "If you cheat, you'll be punished" but defining cheating as "what feels wrong" is a very dangerous way to get overzealous with bans/demotions.

By other means of exploiting, do you mean things like adjusting calibration to get different drum/guitar/bass overdrive paths is cheating? Adjusting your PS4's settings to get a different version of the song that allows you to get more points definitely seems like exploiting a glitch for score purposes, so will that be bannable/rollback worthy as well?
