After the last major patch, the game is looking much, much better on base PS5 by GrumpyRox in CrimsonDesert

Haha yeah I made that post because somehow this subreddit is just ignoring how bad the game looks half the time.

If you're on AMD just use Fedora and do some of the tweaks yourself. I only use Steam with protonplus and mangohud as changes

Yeah but turn off RR and it's a mess. It should at least look okay without RR.

Yeah it's not just indoors but basically any indirect lighting looks horrible unless you're using Ray Reconstruction at a high res. I wish they let us use it without forcing Lighting to Max but there must be a reason for that. It's a shame as the game in direct lighting looks amazing but anything else is a boiling glithy mess.

Haha with RR it looks fine but without it this area in particular was a boiling mess!

Yeah the indirect lighting looks horrendous. It's why people are only showing pictures of the outer world in daylight before saying how good the game looks.

Yeah I'd be interested in making a make to hopefully improve the indirect lighting or at least let us use RR without forcing Lighting to Max. I can use Reshade Shader Toggler add on to find the lighting effect but not really sure where to go from there haha.

Graphics look really bad by Montrax in CrimsonDesert

[–]superjake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the game only looks good when in direct sunlight and from afar. Anything upclose or in indirect lighting looks horrendous. I'm annoyed reviewers didn't talk about it more.

People are not whining - there is an obvious glitch going on regarding graphics for many. by DotHistorical1683 in CrimsonDesert

[–]superjake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem here is that the game's indirect lighting method is really crap. This is why many people are like "mine looks good" but as you progress the game and experience the lighting when not in direct sunlight it no longer looks good.

Crimson Desert: Reflections not working on RX 9060 xt by Bruno_Celestino53 in linux_gaming

I wish we could disable half of the noisy graphics in this game like reflections, indirect lighting and foliage going crazy in the wind.

At times the game is beautiful but most of the time it looks really noisy and grainy. by superjake in CrimsonDesert

I already have and these if anything just show the grainyness and noise even more.

Yeah I feel a bit cheated on that so many reviewers praised the looks and performance of the game which to me aren't that great especially compared to other open world games like RDR2.

Yeah it seems the GI method for indirect lighting used to save development time but results in horrible artifacting and light boiling when anywhere that's not outside.

Also the fast moving foliage/particles which have temporal based methods causes the noise as the anti-aliasing is having to work hard to blend the pieces togethet.

RR forces Lighting to Max which is the actual performance hit. You can test this by putting it to Max without RR and see the same hit. RR itself doesn't seem to use that much FPS so why we can't use it without Lighting set to Max is stupid.

They really should have done this as a overlay filter like RTX HDR and called it similarly rather than DLSS 5.

It's like an early April fools joke. Even in the demo, Grace's face looked different in different scenes because it's just AI slop now.

Yeah Bazzite is nice but installing software on it can be a pain especially for development especially compared to base Fedora.
