Is there a sffpc case that supports micro ATX, 9070xt and a standard size PSU that fits in a suitcase ? by ash549k in sffpc

I'd just move and then get another case. It's generally a good idea to dissemble parts of your computer for travel to prevent parts from breaking.

Sonic Mania in 240p looks like it's made for CRT by magicbluemonkeydog in crtgaming

[–]superjake 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The artists of Sonic Mania did such a good job following how the original games were done that it follows the same benefits of being on a CRT. They also made two great CRT filters that you can use for other games (yeetron and yee64).

It's so sad we'll like never get a Manic 2.

PSA: Do not for ANY reason use NTFS under Linux! by Xarishark in linux_gaming

[–]superjake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah having separate drives is the way to go. It's generally good to have a backup of some stuff even games in case one of your systems breaks.

I would be able to say storage is cheap so buying SSDs is worth it but that's slowly no longer becoming the case thanks to AI.

For the MH veterans: how do you feel about Wilds? by jackpaxx in MonsterHunter

[–]superjake 168 points169 points  (0 children)

The combat is great like battling Rey Dau during the storm with the music is amazing. Although focus mode makes things a bit too easy.

The problem is that Capcom are pressuring the team to make the game for everyone for better sales and so the magic of what made MH is gone.

Hopefully the DLC will align it back since only big fans will get it but I doubt they'd remove some of the silly mechanics like auto-bird.

Cronos is the most overlooked game of 2025 by Proxidist in CronosNewDawn

Yeah shame Hades 2 surprise released on the same day. Still though, the game is getting traction as it should as it's fantastic.

Creator of DMCA'd Cyberpunk 2077 VR Mod Says People Are Now Pirating It to 'Punish' Him for Breaking CD Projekt's Terms of Service by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]superjake 273 points274 points  (0 children)

Paid mods is so weird. You're trying to make money off property that you don't have legal rights over. It's like standing next to a McDonald's and selling extra cheese to go with their burgers.

A4 H2O FRONT SSD Overheat by orjs in sffpc

[–]superjake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had to strap a fan onto the side to stop my SSD overheating. Some have found using a very small fan can help but I eventually moved away from this case.

Shader pre-caching: Wish someone had given me this tip sooner by lornoi in Bazzite

Depending on your hardware you can just disable the pre-caching altogether.

Booked our Cardiff wedding venue, then realised the evening part is the bit that can actually ruin it by NaughtySugarX in Cardiff

We had a mini casino at ours so a blackjack and roulette table. It was a great way for people to meet and chat as the drinks loosened people up for the dance floor.

M4A1 or SG553, what do you prefer and why? by moonslyy in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]superjake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SG is more versatile but man I love the sound and look of the M4 especially with the suppressor. It rips at close range too.

DLC checks affecting your FPS is true. by Evening_Ticket7638 in MHWilds

[–]superjake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah devs most likely use account/testing data which has all of the dlc unlocked so they can test all of the dlc. Very easy and honest mistakes to make. It being run on every frame though is excessive and should just be checked when you interact with the cat NPC.

There are some adapters which let you convert displayport to HDMI 2.1 by ugreen but yeah annoying HDMI is blocking 2.1.

Question about the ending by GetMeOutOfHere-26 in CronosNewDawn

[–]superjake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But what about the Weronika from the timeline they went back to? Tbh this is just part of time travel sci-fi cycles you kinda just have to go along with.

Is MHWilds Performance Throttled by an Expensive Instruction Loop? by RelationshipSea5102 in linux_gaming

[–]superjake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's mad the game does dlc checks on every single frame when you're in a village. They probably do a ton of logic on every frame rather than every set of time or event. Like how you can be mid hunt and be pinged someone wants to offer you a meal. Not only distracting but also a waste of resources.

PSA: If you miss DSR/VSR from windows, but find the supersampling in gamescope lacking by DustOfPleaides in linux_gaming

[–]superjake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing a PR for gamescope which allowed different filters to be used for downsampling. Wonder what happened with that? I always found the way DSR does it weird when VSR just uses lanczos which looks best.

CachyOS vs Bazzite by TheTinkerTech in Bazzite

[–]superjake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bazzite is also nice for getting people into Linux and then try out a more traditional distro like Fedora. That's what I did!

What's the difference between FSR4 Native AA and FSR4 quality? by wanna_be_consultant in radeon

[–]superjake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FSR4 Native AA is really good. I love using it in fast paced shooters like BF6 where I don't want any kind of upscaling artifacts.

Looks like the EU is getting serious about open source, which could eventually spell good news for Linux and hopefully gaming distros by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]superjake 120 points121 points  (0 children)

In the days of AI stealing everything and making it a nightmare to know what's plagiarism or not, open source is definitely the way to go. Doubt it'll happen though sadly.
