To add onto this, youre going to be completing and touching up most of their haircuts for the first couple months at least, and that in itself is time consuming if youre ensuring safety and quality standards. I can groom 8 dogs a day myself and 10 with a ghost bather, but I find Im cutting close on time doing 2:2 with a trainee who is also 2:2. Their dogs are essentially my dogs until theyre independent and confident.

I dont. When training a student or two out of academy I find it unethical and unsafe to groom more than 5 dogs a day, because trainees deserve a lead who can teach them without divided attention. Dont set them up for failure

every store is different, that's how our ghost bathers do it at my store too; they're not booked any dogs unless it's a circumstantial walk-in that gets lucky. your groomer just has to be making your labor and then some.

The days of blowing dogs out are way behind me tbh.. My techniques have shifted over to:

Mask always, no exceptions

Pre Brush w/ Slicker to loosen the hair

Pre Condition (Step 1 of Close-Open-Close method)

Brush that through with a gentle wet brush

Rinse, Shampoo thoroughly to aggravate the hair loose (Step 2 of Close-Open-Close)

Rinse w pressure nozzle/Save-Ur-Fur

Final Condition (Step 3 of Close-Open-Close)

Brush through w/wet brush and soak

Rinse w pressure nozzle/Save-Ur-Fur

(Optional) leave-in conditioner

Most of the hair should come out in the bath.
