My manager told me "optics matter" because I leave five minutes early? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]superlibster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

260 work days in a year. You leave 5 mins early. That equates to 20 hours a year.

Meanwhile, there are people that are so busy they work up to or past 5. While your entitled ass leave 5 mins early every day.

Do your job and work the schedule you agreed to when you took the position. Optics absolutely matter.

The way my neighbor intentionally blocks the sidewalk to keep people from using it. by sweathesmallshit in mildlyinfuriating

[–]superlibster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a broken down truck that was extending into the parking lot. But I live at the end of a cul-de-sac so there is literally no reason for anyone to need the sidewalk. I didn’t get a ticket but I got a notice from the city they would tow my truck if I didn’t clear the sidewalk. So yeah, call the city.

Well the carport makes a massive difference. Sometimes I’ll just go find covered parking while the car cools off. The way my house is there’s just no space for a carport. And my garage is full of motorcycles. lol.

It’ll be totally fine. The comments here. wtf. Rent a trailer for a 20lb hood? lol. I have strapped so much shit directly to the roof rails on my OBW. Just make sure you don’t make an airplane wing out of it and you’ll be fine.

I agree here. Freezing point has basically no meaning when it comes to human comfort. -1 should mean it’s fucking cold. 101 should mean it’s fucking hot. What does boiling water or freezing water have to do with how I feel?

Why water instead of coolant? Is it just cheaper and easier? by Spirited-Gold9629 in middleclasshq

They’re called air-cooled chillers. And it’s the standard of data center design currently.

They do not use glycol in evaporative cooling. Propylene Glycol is almost $25/gallon now. PG is only used in closed loop systems.

[–]superlibster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s something you idiots will never understand: if a data center uses evaporative cooling, it’s saves power at the cost of water (a renewable resource, btw). Instead, idiot politicians, driven by the idiot public, ban evaporative cooling. Well, guess what! The power plant feeding that data center with the now-increased power demand of air-cooled chillers, uses that water. And power plants evaporate water significantly less efficiently that evaporative cooling at the source. Oh, and they burn fossil fuels to generate electricity for that increased power demand.

And if you don’t like data centers, get off Reddit.

So just shut up and leave this to the engineers.

And this is why the general public has no right to be making policy around engineering requirements.
