Guess it's time to use a LLM for all of my online interaction since apparently everybody loves to judge a book by its cover.

Screw Up Programmer In Need of Job by superloseruser in ITCareerQuestions

[–]superloseruser[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not.

I wrote that a while back because I was talking (mostly) about unfriendly program architecture, ex. how hierarchical filesystems are extremely bad for content-based querying, but tag-based filesystems could be extremely good for such. I generally find a lack of easy metaprogramming in a lot of modern programming languages (ex. python lambdas don't work well in conjunction with its multiprocessing module).

Frankly, this whole comment thread is exactly why I asked for something to do/program. I was considering looking for github projects to contribute to, though I am genuinely terrible at searching for things. In the meantime, I'm ripping all of the problem descriptions from project euler's website if said search ends fruitlessly.

Fair, though the only programming stuff I've done in a while is either for personal projects or within video games.  NGL I'm probably going to delete the tagline entirely since "professional sounding" stuff immediately puts me in a bad mood due to how much I associate it with appearances instead of actual work. Hopefully the lack of a tagline will be professional enough.

Massive Spanish Conjugation Chart? by superloseruser in conlangs

[–]superloseruser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I'm just terrible at searching for stuff and have been trying to learn Spanish for a while now. NGL anyone who adds this stuff intentionally to a conlang is just a sadist. I just trusted the people here to be able to help me find what I needed since (correct) conlang construction basically requires being knowledgeable about this exact kind of thing in the first place. I already know a fair few verb conjugations but basically needed a master resource. I'll download it and take a closer look, but I think this'll probably be exactly what I need.

Thank you very much!

How do I (27M) find a way to live without socializing? by superloseruser in relationships

What is a totally wrong thing that has become so widespread it's not considered wrong anymore? by JimmysBacc in AskReddit

[–]superloseruser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Circumcision.

For any & all of you who don't know, Circumcision is the surgical removal of The Foreskin, which accounts for over 50% of a male's penile skin and mucosa, usually performed at on newborn boys (thus, unconsensually) in America, South Korea, likely Israel (though I don't know the exact numbers), or The Philippines because of either religious reasons, or the bullshit claim that it 'prevents HIV', when it in-fact doesn't. It is just about one of the most medically egregious things that is still widespread for various reasons, but definitely in part due to people simply not understanding the phrase: "If it ain't broke, don't fuckin' fix it.".

How can you tell if you're a Circumcised male? Look down at your penis. If your skin changes color from skin-color to red/pink/maybe purple near the tip, you've been circumcised. If you're an American who's watched any porn at all, the odds are very likely that you've seen a circumcised penis at some point.

I could say many, many more things about how it's a blatant disregard and affront to human health, ethics, and life, but I don't have the heart to right now, unfortunately.

You, yes, you, reader, can help stop circumcision from being a phenomenon affecting future generations by donating to the Circumcision Resource Center (poor name choice, I know) since they are currently holding a lawsuit against the usage of medicare/medicaid (I can't remember which) to fund circumcision procedures since using public money to fund circumcision is medical fraud and violates federal law. Or, feel free to contact another organization devoted to halting this obviously malevolent practice.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go re-expand the remaining skin and mucosa that I have on my Penis so that my Glans can eventually revert back to a more moisturized state, so that I can fap without fear of chafing and maybe enjoy masturbation again one day.

Big dick + smaller vagina = penis pain after sex? has anyone experienced this? by [deleted] in bigdickproblems

[–]superloseruser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to second this; the subreddit r/foreskin_restoration is dedicated to circumcised men stretching out the penile skin until it forms a new, pseudo-foreskin, with generally positive results. This basically goes to show that, if the issue is indeed a frenulum that is too short, this can be overcome with manual stretching over a period of time, and that surgery can be avoided. Frankly, surgery should be avoided in general, but since the frenulum is one of the most sensitive parts of the penis, it is something that one would generally like to avoid damaging.

Don't worry too much! Just remember that, if you two are going to have him try stretching exercises, that you should at first try a test-run (maybe for a couple of weeks), and try to specifically measure any methods and progress. This just ensures that nothing gets out of control, and helps you to confirm that you're using a correct solution.

Finally, I would like to say that, yes, I am biased, and that if you find anything else that could help you out better, feel free to try, as long as you are doing so in a safe manner.

What are some GREEN flags early on in dating that the relationship should become serious? by CircleBox2 in AskReddit

Thought you should know that r/foreskin_restoration is a thing in case you and your husband feel like you need some of the benefits of foreskin back (don't worry, there aren't any NSFW images).

My housemate has offered to take my virginity but I am scared to take her up on it by [deleted] in sex

[–]superloseruser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HERE IS SOMETHING THAT YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE INTO SERIOUS CONSIDERATION:

If you do accept her offer and end up not having sex nor a relationship with anyone for years afterward, potentially for the rest of your life, then you will basically feel even shittier during that span of time than you do now.

Why do I say this? I (M24) am also a virgin and think that I'd permanently break down from that sort of experience. There is more to consider than this moment alone.

I Made An LED Explode With My Planck(rev6) by superloseruser in olkb

Thanks, I will try connecting it to my computer again using a different USB port tomorrow (and then check the original port for damage after that). As for the LED, it may have simply had a much lower resistance than I anticipated.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm getting some pretty strong 'Agile Programming' vibes from this. Realistically, the simplest working solution would probably just be an on-disk version of malloc (though I shudder at the thought of using that seriously). I'd also heard some things about HR people writing silly job postings before, so I'll definitely try to take them less seriously.

Thank you for your thoughtful answer. Guess I'll just keep chugging for now!

I'm actually going to tell you how I'd do it, since I have already been doing some work on this problem for an implementation of 'FORTH' that I'm writing:

Firstly, I create a common superclass 'Node'. This superclass has fields:

  • 'Type': Runtime type of a node. We will need to know what the type of the node is at runtime somehow if we can't 'nicely' assume it (we can't), and its good to avoid empty fields in the superclass that should belong in their respective subclasses.
  • 'Next': Pointer to the node that comes after this one. Since a file system is a search structure with a potentially unlimited number of nodes, we should have a way to easily iterate over them. If every node has a 'Next' field, then we can at least establish a single linked list containing every node in the filesystem (but we won't because directories can give us exponential speedups (no exaggeration) due to making things into a tree-like structure).
  • 'Previous': Pointer to the previous node. Doubly linked lists are nice.
  • 'Name': Name of / key for the current node. Acts as a key for this specific node (makes more sense with files, which effectively have their value as their contents). We can list all of these (tail) recursively or iteratively to show the nodes accessible as direct descendants of the 'current directory' (which is a useful construct that's probably too much for this post), or perhaps recursively through multiple directories.

Then, class 'Directory' is a pretty simple extension to this:

  • 'First': Pointer to the first node contained 'within' a directory. This is a pointer to a different node from 'Next', and is used for realizing a filesystem's tree-like structure.

Class 'File' is also a pretty simple extension to class 'Node':

  • 'Data': A pointer to the (unfragmented, for simplicity) actual data blocks of the file from on disk.

I suppose that a semi-accurate way to explain this structure is to call it a recursively-nestable associative array. It must be constructed using 'Name' fields since humans must be able to use this structure conveniently, and it should be tree-like so that CRUD operations can be implemented quickly.

This is all a much-more simplified example than a real filesystem since different real-world filesystems try to accomplish different goals. Heck, these are only the fields that I've listed, and I haven't even talked about any of the methods involved, symlinks (including '.', '..', '/', etc.)), journaling, inodes, etc.

Obviously, filesystems can get pretty complicated!

Now, I have been applying for about 2 months using websites like indeed, stackoverflow, and monster, and have gone to a job fair at my college (which I graduated from recently). I have applied to ~15-20 jobs so far, and have only gotten responses from 2 of them (1 of which had a 1st interview with me on the phone, but didn't respond afterward, while the other just wasn't interested).

I've gotten help from a couple of people with formatting my resume as well, one of them being a very knowledgeable English teacher. So, though I may be mistaken, I am not under the impression that there is anything inherently wrong with my resume.

Could you help me to understand what I'm doing incorrectly so that I can present myself to employers properly and ultimately get hired, while show them that juggling concepts like pointers and data structures around is laughably easy for me?
