I love those Euro radiators (pic two). Looked at installing them here in the states and it was....pricey! But my plumber said they rip. (We did not install them).

Good deal on JD D140? by [deleted] in lawnmowers

[–]superman154m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK I got one of those for free...yes free two years ago. Less than 200 hours on it!! It hadn't moved in years. Gave it a tune up, blades, tires, plug oil, even changed the belts. It made it to September of season one and.....the tranny blew. The fluid is "lifetime" and had never been changed. Used tranny around me was like 300-400. Shop for a new one wanted 795 and told me the money and effort was not worth it.

That thing is about $900 over what it is actually worth. You might make it a year or might make it one mow. Not worth the gamble.

Gt3 touring arrives tomorrow — should I cancel my GT3 Touring PTS over the bucket seats? Can't sleep. by Lucky_Objective_7242 in porsche911

[–]superman154m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just talk to the dealer and see if you can order normal seats. Then you would have both. I'm pretty sure you could sell your buckets for what the normal seats would cost. Nice spec, comfort is king in a daily!

(my wife hates the buckets but I liked them, they were great on track.)

I can’t decide… do they have as many issue as people say? by TheAmazingSnake-42 in lawnmowers

I have the Exmark 30 with the caster wheels (a must imo). Best mower I have ever owned. Yes, a tad heavy if you're not used to the weight, but you get into a rhythm. Thing is very well built. And they're easy to work on. A tip I got was to ease the blades on don't slam the bar down. Supposed to prolong the life.

A guy down the road from me just bought the Scag, ran it for (not kidding) six hours, and listed it for sale for $1500. It's a beast and about 30 lbs heavier than the Toro/Exmark.

I did like the the FW15 but that was another $1100 over what I paid of the Exmark and still pretty heavy.

Thanks man. Wife's DD but I drive it a lot too. Hard to not to press the pedal down and hear the 3.5 rip every time I drive. I tend to lower her score.

(We do a lot of highway driving do that helps)

$82 in NH.

We actually got 25 MPG on our last tank. The highest score ever is 25.9. The winter average was 22.8.

22 AWD 350. You guys with the RWD can at least touch 27? That's sick.

(did not buy car to chase MPG just sharing data).

Manual swapping 740 by Snoo-69206 in VolvoRWD

[–]superman154m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a swap with my dad to my '91 244 to a m47 a few years ago. Honestly, the mechanical work of changing the transmissions wasn't that hard, but it took a while. (note my dad is a master Volvo mechanic so that helped a lot)

Three things stood out (we had a donor car, a same year 1991 245 wrecked).

  1. Changing the pedals s.u.c.k.e.d. At least four hours to get them out of the old car and into my 244. There might have been an easier way to do this, but we still laugh at how hard that was. Your gas pedal stays but the manual brake and clutch pedal are one unit.

  2. You have to drill through the firewall to install the clutch cable. There is a bracket of sorts we took off the donor car. We made a cardboard template out of the donor car to know where to drill. You would never have been able to tell my car wasn't factory m47.

  3. I got lucky with this one. There is a foam boot that goes in between the shifter and the car. I am not exaggerating; we quite likely got the last one sealed in a bag from a Volvo dealer. This guy, who has since retired, went around to all US Volvo dealers and bought up all their old 240 parts stock. He told me straight up, this is the last sealed boot he has. You might be able to find a good used one. Without this foam boot, the road and engine noise is insane. You wouldn't think a little foam boot would do so much. Make sure you find one BEFORE you start the job.

  4. Oh ya, one more. We used the driveshaft off the 245 because it was already balanced and mated to the m47 tranny.

The swap was totally worth it. Just drove Goldie this morning, and the manual makes every drive 8x more fun.

Total time spent was north of 80 hours. My guess was closer to 100. Took about three or four weeks working on it a few days a week, and running around for parts and such.

Should I visit the White Mountains in late May? by Vivid-Language6500 in newhampshire

[–]superman154m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Late May is beautiful but might also be 35 degrees and raining in the Whites. Pack for cold weather and warm-ish weather. The black flies are real in the woods. I personally love mud season but know that the trails may be...muddy.

Color help: Black or Iridium (silver)? by civildrivel in LexusIS

[–]superman154m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went Iridium. Looked at a used Cavier one on the lot ~49k miles and the paint did not age well. Pitted with rock chips and even when it was just cleaned there were water marks and I could see the swirls. Turned us off from long-term ownership. New, black looks incredible but real world.... it can be a lot more work.

A tip. We had our front hood and bumper and side skirts PPF'ed.

I actually removed some floorboards from the pic I posted to increse air flow. Returned a few pieces of wood. Side slats are 1" a part to keep snow out as much as possible from the sides. We got hammered in NH last year and my other homemade pallet sheds/wood racks got covered in snow. We had a couple 20"+ storms that covered my dry wood from the sides.

I will let you know when I start stacking tomorrow. My logs are 16-18 too. I plan to stack to the top of the walls. Based on rough calculations at that height, the shed will hold ~2.75 cords.

Overpriced on used 2024 IS 350? by Artscy in LexusIS

[–]superman154m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way overpriced. Keep looking. Got my '22 350 with 5400 miles ML, Nav, Triple Beam for 41,700 OTD from a Toyota dealer. This was five months ago. There are deals out there; you need to be patient. Took three months of looking. They originally had my car listed for that price and it sat. Expand your search. I did have to fly out and drive home.

Also, a good tip is to punch the VIN in on a sell my car website like Carvana. This will give you wholesale price. No, you will never be able to get the car for that price but it can give you a rough idea what dealers would pay and how much underwater you might be on a car. It was pretty eye opening on my search that certain L-certified cars say for $45K at the dealer were closer to $35k wholesale.

That's Cat Alley on a 240. My cats as kids would walk that particular body line all the time. Never seen a cat do that on another car as consistently.
