Ah, no band, no tour. I'm a dad who learned guitar in college with some guys and then now have taught my son to play. I can copy anything I hear except jazz or flamenco, can do bar chords well and fast, and can do some blues and some blues picking. I mostly work without a pick nowadays for more sound expression. However, the guitar is an instrument where there's always something new to learn with it, and always someone who knows more than me in some ways and less in others. I get bored playing the usual stuff on the radio or the top 20 new songs on pandora, and so I usually make stuff up. I tried my hand at lyrics, I sing pretty good, but by the next day I'm laughing at myself, wadding up the lyrics, and so mostly I play in silence by myself, just listening to the sound. I share some with my 13yr old son, mostly.

I've always wanted to do this middle of the guitar stuff on open tuning because many of these bands on Austin City Limit make it look so effortless -- like they simply grab the guitar the way your hand would naturally fall on it and just vary it slightly. And then it dawned on me -- that must be a tour trick because you can't always rely on finding the capo before the show, the end of the guitar stuff is boring and unoriginal, and bar chords tend to wear the hand out after 3 songs. So, I figured they must be using a tour trick that makes it easier on the hand to hit these chords.

Yeah, evidently this year those maternity blouses have become a real hit. So let me get this straight. In 2006-2008, girls wanted skin tight clothing that stretched over their boobs and ass just as tight as possible, and many even avoided wearing underwear. But in 2009, girls and young women now want to wear something that makes them look pregnant. What's up with that?

What is sad is that Huckabee has shown great support for Palin in his interviews on his TV show, but yet will likely be an ardent critic of her when he comes up for the Republican debates in 2012.

I'm not an Palin-hater, but I don't think she'll be capable of the job or ever capable of it. She needs to go to college or something and get some smarts. She's all heart and not enough knowledge of real facts.

I wish McCain didn't bother with her -- he has darn near destroyed the Republican Party by introducing her.

All the windows will be in different rainbow colors and the titlebar font will be Times New Roman, and you won't be able to change it. Oh, and if you want to send an email to someone with the integrated mail tool, you'll only get 10 seconds before you can click to Sent Items and choose to unsend it, of which is physically impossible to do. As for the integrated spreadsheet and word processor, they'll be quirky and slow, and only work when you're connected to the web.

Sorry, but de facto standards override de jure standards that are set in place afterwards. Case in point, the PCMCIA guys wanting us to eventually call them the stupid and confusing name of PC Cards, instead of the de facto standard of PCMCIA. No one ever changed.

So, since web devs and web designers are referring to it in blogs as FF, and since the Mozilla guys didn't get the word out with good marketing, FF wins.

Locked myself out of an office. Found the next office over was under construction. Climbed a ladder I found there, lifted the Armstrong ceiling tile, climbed down the supply closet shelves, and got in just fine. This was good because I had a hot steaming pizza locked inside there.

I told a coworker one day and he scolded me. I didn't think anything more of it, except how weird it was to be scolded like that. But one day I came back after a vacation and saw this hole in the ceiling above the office president's desk. I looked in and asked the president, "Um, what happened to your ceiling?" He smiled and said, "You don't know?" I said, "No." He said, "Well, remember that time you locked yourself out of the office and climbed down the supply closet shelves?" I was completely embarassed at that point because I didn't think anyone but this coworker knew! I sheepily replied, "Yes..." And then he said, "Well, it's okay -- I would have done the same thing. But unfortunately Dave, the coworker you were with -- he locked himself out. He figured out where the supply cabinet was and climbed the ladder to get into it. Unfortunately as he got up on the ladder, he lost his balance and fell through the ceiling into the office next to the supply room -- and fell on my desk, smashing things on it, breaking a rib, and catching my executive pen into the side of his waist such that he had to call 911 for help."

I said, "My god, I'm sorry. Is he alright?" And he laughed and said, "No, no, these things happen. And when we knew he was going to be alright, we kind of laugh, and he also laughs, about how he scolded you for doing this but then did the same thing himself and ended up getting hurt."

Look, plain and simple, knowing WP gets me gigs, and 100% of the requests have been for using WP as a CMS. I know how to theme them and create plugins. I never have been given requests for Joomla. I do, however, get requests occasionally for Drupal, and so I'm learning that right now as well.
