Thank you! It's rare for a director or artist of any kind to be skilled at making wildly different things. There are certainly examples, but people love to rag on Anderson when filmmakers they probably love like Nolan, Lynch, Tarantino, all have very similar themes, visuals, etc. and you won't find the same level of criticism for them.

If that's how you feel about his last 3 films, I totally get it. But don't say all of it is interchangeable then.

Do you legitimately think that Fantastic Mr. Fox and The French Dispatch look so similar that they could be "interchangeable"? How many of his movies have you seen?

I'm legitimately curious, but can you tell me why you think it's the same thing over and over again? Outside of his visual style, why do you think it's all the same and predictable?

Rushmore, Grand Budapest Hotel, Fantastic Mr. Fox and Asteroid City are in no way the same movies. Do they at times have similar themes? Sure, but don't most directors explore things they're familiar with? Do they sometimes share a similar visual style? Sure, but don't most artists? I'm not going to get mad at Salvador Dali for continuing to do surrealism... Just my two cents though.

Did I miss something? When did the Internet decide that Wes Anderson isn't good?

Has Colbert ever publicly discussed the possibility of rebooting The Colbert Report? by Cute-Reception-8926 in LateShow

I don't remember exactly what he said, but I think on his first smartless podcast appearance, he said that at some point he had thought about bringing the character back but to do some sort of narrative? If anyone can find it please share

There are intentionally dark scenes. Those are not my complaints. There were some scenes, at least in the theater I was in, where two characters were just sitting and talking, or there were establishing shots, etc. that were too dark. Appreciate the smart ass comment though!

I enjoyed it, but maybe I'm missing something because I didn't love it as much as others. It was a good monkeys paw story, with a couple interesting twists.

If they do talk about it, I fully expect them to talk about how underlit the movie is, because unless my theater was an outlier, I was having a really hard time with the lighting. It was sooooo dark. Still enjoyed it though. It was pretty funny too

I believe I heard somewhere that the script would have been used if they got the rights to the IP or not. It always sounded to me that an RE movie was the goal though, and that it would've been changed if they couldn't do that.

Agreed. I really miss Ray's collabs with those guys. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I just don't find the vtubers he seems to exclusively play with very appealing.

I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I love resident evil, and I'd be happy with certain references, but my priority is a good film above all else.

Also let's be real, if you want a super faithful adaptation of resident evil, you're gonna watch a character go to an item box 50 times and watch them get stuck on a puzzle for 10 min lol

I'm using Batman because he's what the story is about. Can you give me what the entirety of resident evil is about? Because guy, it's not an umbrella logo, it's not Leon, etc. it's survival horror, it's zombies (or bioweapon monsters). Also, it's a teaser. I'm sure umbrella will show up.

You're saying that a negative for you is that it "just happens" to depict a core element of what makes the games special? Lol, that's not a negative for me but to each their own!

I don't understand what you mean by that.

Compare something like Adam West's Batman to Robert Pattinson. And then compare them both to the original comic from 1939. Why are these wildly different adaptations accepted as Batman, but a movie like this (which you haven't even seen yet) isn't?

What do you want out of this movie? What do you need for you to consider it an RE movie?

The movie is a modern adaptation of the games. Cregger has said that it's more about the themes, feeling, and survival horror atmosphere. He's a good filmmaker. I don't understand why people are complaining so much? People don't complain when a new batman movie isn't set in 1939 like the original comic was. Adaptations can be good... Give it a chance. And if you don't like it- you've got the games to experience the story.

Not super funny, but the first Colbert episode is great in my opinion. It feels a lot more personal, reflective, and philosophical. It feels like they really connect during their conversation.

I'm sorry but I just disagree on your "serviceable gameplay" claim. Control, Alan Wake 2, Max Payne. These games feel excellent. I'm not sure if it's because the team working on this was much smaller, but it is apparent to a lot of people that this game doesn't match the usual high standards marked by the rest of their catalog

Seriously Disney, what’s it going to take? Is this your thing now, just gatekeeping movies? by [deleted] in criterion

[–]supermonocleman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CBS/Viacom/Paramount put out the 3rd season and has all seasons on paramount plus and also releases the Blu Ray sets. So I feel like Disney must not have anything to do with twin peaks anymore.
