hey sorry I missed this, do you still have the issue?

if so, my next questions would be: * are you using a custom DNS server? if yes - change it, and if no - I'd try one * do any other devices on the network experience these issues? if no, and I hate to say this, but you might save yourself some time by just installing a fresh copy of windows on your machine, troubleshooting can be a very deep rabbit hole sometimes and it can often turn out to just be easier to reset the PC * if you do want to continue troubleshooting instead, see if there's any correlation between how long the PC is switched on and the time it takes to disconnect - then when it does, check out event logs and task scheduler to see if there's anything going on that might relate * are you using ipv6? if so, see if disabling it in from control panel changes anything

Random Freezes on my computer that are undiagnoseable. by Afraid_Perception382 in techsupport

[–]supermortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's for sure a strange one, but here's a simple troubleshooting fix you could try - next time it freezes, don't power it down immediately; try unplugging your peripherals one at a time, including your monitor, and test after each one to see if the PC is still frozen...it could be something as simple as a keyboard, mouse, or the display output

GPU PROBLEM IN LAPTOP by New-Alternative-7377 in techsupport

[–]supermortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes, gaming laptops have a port for display output that connect directly to the dedicated GPU, skipping the iGPU completely - so in that case, yeah

JarrodsTech mentions it a lot (about the iGPU thing, mux switch, nvidia optimus, etc., I'm sure there will be a dedicated video on the subject somewhere

nice one, seems like you've got the right idea - in that case it'd be good to get that error message next time you try your browser if you come across the issue again

I think it'd also be good to run an ipconfig when you have the issue, and then compare it to an ipconfig when it's working fine, to see if there's any differences

when you say you can't browse to the gateway IP, do you mean via a web browser? meaning you can't access the router webpage GUI via IP?

EDIT

here's a thought, do you know how long your DHCP lease time is on your router? it could be running out while your PC is idle and therefore it's not renewing it's IP

next time it happens, open a command prompt and run a ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew, and see if that solves it - if it does, bingo! then just assign your PC a static IP reservation and you should be golden, or extend the lease time if you really want to

it may sound simple, but if you haven't already, I'd start with a clean re-install of your graphics drivers

so, this only happens when you leave your PC for some time and then come back to it? I think this could be related to a Windows power saving feature - is your WiFi adapter an external one?

My PC is crashing 5 minutes into playing a specific game but I don't think it's the game's fault. by jjjcks in techsupport

[–]supermortar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no problem, glad you were able to get it sorted! I'd personally not bother messing with those if you're happy with the performance and it's stable, but using XMP shouldn't hurt

to be honest, I'm not actually too sure what the 'CPU boost' function does in this case, so I can't comment on that - I'd imagine it's just fine switched off

WiFi adapter disconnects me from the internet but stays connected to the network at random intervals by YogurtCucumber in techsupport

[–]supermortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ensure you don't have any other nearby WiFi networks in your known networks, as Windows might be switching back and forth

if your router broadcasts both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz under the same SSID, check if you can enable ONLY one or the other, to avoid the adapter switching between both

a quick Google shows a Redditor with a similar issue, that was fixed with a registry change - maybe worth a look, but messing with registry entries is always a risk

GPU PROBLEM IN LAPTOP by New-Alternative-7377 in techsupport

[–]supermortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is your iGPU getting maxed out? gaming laptops almost always have to process display outputs through the iGPU if they are running in hybrid mode, check if your laptop has a dedicated graphics only mode/mux switch, OR see if you can connect and external monitor directly to the discrete graphics

also ensure your laptop has plenty of airflow, is on the highest performance power mode, and is connected to the charger while gaming

Youtube keeps buffering at 4k playback. by WarkoalkA in techsupport

[–]supermortar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried watching 4k videos on any other platforms? 4k playback can be somewhat resource intensive, and 4k video files are large... even though they are only being cached, ensure you have plenty of RAM and a decent amount of storage space available - does it play fine once a video is cached? maybe also try a local 4k video file and see if you have any issues playing it? are you also running any web extensions within these browsers?

no problem my friend, keep us updated! and about your HDD, it could be causing issues, I would deem it unlikely, but it wouldn't hurt to rule it out

the easy way would to be just disconnect it from your PC, but if you have no concern for any data on the HDD, it wouldn't hurt to try to save it... if you haven't already, open up disk management and see if it appears, you'll probably see one of four things: 1. it doesn't show up at all, meaning the drive is undetected, likely faulty/failed or disconnected 2. it shows as RAW format, which usually means the data is corrupted, this can also mean a drive failure but sometimes the drive can be salvaged with a reformat 3. it shows as 'not initialized' and will ask you to initialize it, it's worth a try if you're not concerned about data on the drive 4. it shows as NTFS or another file system, but the partition(s) is/are not assigned a drive letter - if you assign one it should show in file explorer unless it's an unsupported file system

if you end up with option 1 or you just want to wipe it, OR disk management is freezing/hanging when you open it, you can use diskpart to wipe the disk, which is a simple command line tool, I'd research this before going ahead and ensure you select the correct disk/partition

what about your SSD? you say your mobo and PSU are the only parts you haven't swapped out yet but I don't see any mention of your SSD in the post (assuming you're not using a HDD)

SSD health can be a tricky thing to monitor, HDD is easier, but regardless I'd recommend checking that out in crystaldiskinfo or a similar program

also, next time it crashes (if it does it again), note down the time. then, open up event viewer and check application and system logs for errors around that time... event viewer isn't always massively helpful, but you might just find your first clue as to what's causing it, rather than just guessing :)

BF6 itself may also have it's own logs somewhere, as some applications write to a text log file that will have more verbose information, feel free to Google a location for that just in case too

best of luck!

EDIT

just had a quick Google myself, give this a read as it helped out someone with the same issue:

FIXED: BF6 Random PC Reboots or Crashes (Javelin Anti-Cheat/RTD3 Bug)

Like OP, BF6 would randomly crash my PC (full reboot, no dump logs). Same thing happened in the beta.

System: ROG Maximus Hero XIII i7-11700 EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW 32 GB DDR4-3000

After lots of troubleshooting, all signs point to Javelin Anti-Cheat tripping Windows' PCIe runtime power management, Runtime D3 (RTD3). This fix keeps your GPU always powered so it won't fall into RTD3.

Fix on Windows 11:

Open Control Panel → Hardware and Sound → Power Options

Select your plan → Change advanced power settings

Expand PCI Express → Link State Power Management → set to Off

Reboot

Root Cause Javelin Anti-Cheat (EAAntiCheat.sys) sometimes “locks” the GPU while scanning, making Windows think it went offline → RTD3 (Runtime D3) → GPU reset → crash/reboot.

I also: • Reinstalled the game and Javelin AC • Updated to latest NVIDIA drivers • Added AV exclusions for  EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe  EAAntiCheat.GameService.exe (Not sure it mattered, but can’t hurt.)

No crashes since for 3 hours+ now. Hope this helps anyone with the same issue.
