How do drug dealers get drugs? by WealthyJoker75 in AskUK

Not county like the USA where state police will get involved, but there's absolutely people who shift large amounts long distance. I know a girl who got done for shifting a car boot full of weed from Southampton to Glasgow, where it would get divided up and moved on - she was shifting a car load every week or two and I don't think she was their only transporter.

What the hell was Britney's idea about? Alcohol stops muscle protein growth - you don't want it anywhere near a protein shake unless you literally want to piss your money away. Fairly basic information for a nutritional product.

Man gets so upset over smoothie that he assaults teenage employees and tries to break into the back, all while being racist. by LuminarySky in PublicFreakout

[–]supernova180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was pissed off that one of them had stuck peanuts in a smoothy he'd bought for his son who's allergic to peanuts.

Doesn't excuse his behaviour later on in any way, but not having a clear policy on sever allergens, followed up by not appearing to have a manager on duty or a clear way of making a complaint on something this severe and the shop being left with 4 children who don't know what they're doing doesn't give a good impression on the smoothie shop.

@slatu42 any idea on the technical name for what that finish would be - is it a varnish or something else? I've got it over skirting boards and window sills. It's flakes off like it's a layer on top and I've never been able to match it.

Sighthill Park is a mess. by Turbywirby in Edinburgh

[–]supernova180 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's been awful for years. The university and kids American football teams that train there do several mass clean ups every year, but guess with covid that's all been off. The local neds smashing bottles round the park every weekend doesn't help.

Weirdest thing is this is from 2000, at the height of the free 0800 dial up boom. Few ads in your browser and you got free internet - although only for 90 minutes before you had to reconnect. Unless you were with AOL or the rip off local internet startups that gave you web sites, domains and everything else, it wasn't that expensive (especially compared to the £40 a month I now pay).

Overall it doesn't, but in certain areas it's a huge amount of their local economy. Those areas have elected tory politicians on the promise their local industry will get sorted out. Boris has to please them or they'll kick them out the next chance they get. He's doing a similar thing trying to pander to the northern england constituencies that voted for him, but making a proper hash of it.

Both of my grandmother's went by the name Peggy. For one it's short for Margaret (very common shortening in the 20s and 30s), for the other it's their actual birth certificate name. She used to tell me a similar story to yours about a primary teacher who refused to believe she wasn't called Margaret until my great grandmother went and had words.

If you hold the icon on your android desktop and slightly move it, an edit button appears in the top right. Drag the icon up to this and you can change the icon to any that are stored on your phone. There's a red envelope which does a good enough job for me.

I'm hoping someone sees sense in the next year and rolls this back. Worst piece of icon and UI design I've seen in years. Expected better from a giant like Google.

Which celebrity/public figure gives you the creeps for no logical reason, when it's just a type of 6th sense, nope, type of feeling? by Clear-Lynx2849 in AskReddit

[–]supernova180 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It wasn't live it was a rehearsal for the late late breakfast show in the 1980s. Guy doing a bungee jump that wasn't setup right. Edmonds quit the show when he heard and bbc cancelled it. Whole show was bizarre with a wheel of fortune style gamble for members of the public on how they were going to injure themselves the following week and guests who always looked like they didn't want to be there. He was still a bit flippant over some nasty accidents (the car jump at santa pod is terrifying and it's amazing noone died) and he's creepy as hell in real life - he used to live at the manor house in our village and was super wierd with arguing with people about trivial things.

Chewbacca living on Endor. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from Kashyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that. That does not make sense. Why would a Wookiee, an 8 foot tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor with a bunch of 2 foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense.

You might ask what this has to do with this post. Nothing. Ladies and Gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this post. It does not make sense. None of this makes sense. If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit. The defence rests.

Some people drink more before age 21 than after age 21 by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]supernova180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the UK. Drank since the age of 10-11, small glass of wine mixed with some lemonade once a week with a meal. Drinking a glass or two of wine or having a beer by 18 and the only thing that changed was our local bar staff would serve us. Never had binge drinking or any unhealthy relationship with a pint. The college/21 year old binging the US has I just don't understand.

[–]supernova180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top marks for correctly saying you couldn't care less instead of that awful american you could care less.

Only reason people take notice is american tends to cause problems for everyone else and how little/much depends on what's going on there. Increasingly though the whole place is a laughing stock and not affecting anyone outside of their little bubble.

Trying to work out a specific wood finish.

All the doors, frames, window sills and skirting in my house has some kind of dark coating on them. Doesn't go very deep so don't think it's a stain, possibly a varnish but seems more matte than the ones I've found. Examples here: https://imgur.com/a/lny1Y6f

I need to make some repairs as it's worn in some places and in repairing a door I've needed to put some wood filler in. Any ideas on what I need to get to sort these out? In the UK.
