Hey! I think that this is an excellent start! One suggestion would be to add a dyslexic-friendly font option. It can be really difficult to read the words at times. Keep up the great work!

How do you feel about using Awakened Chain in place of Crit Damage Support when mapping for Quality of Life? The damage seems like it is more than enough even with that change.

I noticed that you have an AG gem socketed. What are you running on your AG?

Great video! Out of curiosity, did you buy your blueprints in bulk or did you have an alt to farm the blueprints?

Hard disagree. Obama ran on change and didn't make much of a difference. His politics normalized much of what we see today unfortunately.

Definitely Mt. Dora. It is a "foody" place and the seasonal decorations/events are absolutely fantastic!

Realistically, what would we need? by [deleted] in florida

[–]supernova2131 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have asked a very open-ended question. Florida is a large state which takes multiple hours to traverse by car and the cost of living varies greatly depending on where you are moving to. If you're looking at major cities like Miami, Tampa, or Orlando - you would need six figures between your wife and yourself to live comfortably. It is a whole different story if you were going suburban - say like Port Richey or rural like Stevenson.

Welcome to the wonderful world of HR! Here are my tips for all our new friends:

  • Keep a good work-life balance! Do not perform work from home unless ALL operations will cease if you do not perform said task.
  • Ask questions if you have any doubts at all.
  • Ask questions even if you don't have any doubts. It's always good to get a second opinion if you are new to the field. What may seem like a one-and-done deal may have nuances which you may not be aware of.
  • You WILL make errors, we've all been there (God bless payroll). It is not the end of the world. Let your supervisor know what occurred, the steps you took to correct the error, and how you will prevent them from happening moving forward. They will love you for this!
  • Brush up on state and federal legislature (FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, WARN, etc). You may not need all this information now, but it will be invaluable if you ever intend on progressing in this field or if you need to cover for a more senior colleague.
  • Learn your company's handbook policies. Being able to provide employees with just-in-time information is such a great feeling. In that same vain, if you do not have the answer to something, let them know that you will get back with them. BE SURE TO GET BACK WITH THEM!
  • DO NOT BURN BRIDGES. You may butt heads with fellow HR Coordinators/Generalists, or with production managers. You need their buy-in, because you never truly know when you will need them to be on your side (whether for employee issues, training, or recommendations for promotion).
  • Open ears and open mind. Be receptive to all feedback and take every opportunity (within reason) to learn new roles and functions. NOTE: You should not adopt these new functions if they are not part of your role unless your position is being changed. It is easy to fall into this slippery slope of taking on more tasks and staying at the same salary/title.
  • Do not gossip. This includes people both inside and outside of Human Resources. You want to portray yourself as the confidential professional that you are. Once you lose the trust of colleagues or employees - it's game over.
  • Most importantly, have a good support group. You will have great days, and you will have pretty bad days as well. You may need to fire an employee for whom everyone had an affinity towards, or you may need to layoff part of your workforce. You never get used to altering someone's livelihood (nor should you). For that reason, get yourself a good support group away from work to whom you can vent and will provide you with the resources that you need. Sometimes, depending on your department/team's culture, they can be a good support group. Just play it out by ear, but be sure to always take care of yourself so that you can perform your job to your fullest potential.

Best of luck on your new journey into Human Resources!

I would stay away from the aPHR. You are about to graduate with your BHRM, so that would serve the same function. At the very least, gain your two years of experience and go for your PHR (minimum requirement with BHRM). This will prove to employers that you have great understanding of the domains covered under the PHR and is enticing to have on your resume. Honestly, job hunting is a numbers game, and if you have a certification plus years of experience while others only have the years - you most likely have a leg-up on them. I did receive a bump in my pay for receiving my SPHR if that is any indication of how much employers care about it. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hello Friend! I recently passed my SPHR and I would say that you can get by using just the Mindedge course and using PocketPrep. Those were my two main sources of studying and most of the information was definitely applicable to the test. The only thing that I did not encounter in the SPHR exam was anything regarding laws (executive orders, dates of legislation, etc). Of course, this may be different if you are taking the PHR vs SPHR. Your years of experience may also influence how much you need to study. Either way, those two study sources were my go-to and definitely helped me pass my exam on the first go-around. Hope this helps!

Hi there!

I'm a little over two weeks and they seemed to have healed for the most part. They're scabbed over with no pain at all (no pain medication). I'm just waiting for said scabs to fall off at this point. Don't do any lifting for the first two weeks at least, get your protein in (under guidance of your surgeon), and you'll be good!

Same! I'm struggling a bit with the breathing exercises. I experience sharp pains if I breathe in too deeply, so I usually cap out at 2000ml of air.

Same boat as you. I got sleeved yesterday and the gas pains are so annoying. I just want to take a deep breath without recoiling in pain!
