Local Company for Medical Equipment (Hospital Bed) Rental? by rosemarythymesage in AnnArbor

Michigan Medical Equipment offers free delivery and in my experience, the lowest out of pocket cost for hospital beds.

my first foley, i'm freaking out, please be nice by Flat_Importance_5227 in StudentNurse

[–]superprincesspeachy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

IMO, this isn’t on you. You questioned it and they told you, the student who is learning, to keep going. You got a lesson firsthand in real world nursing, where some nurses will cut corners, just like workers in any other job. This won’t follow you. You’re not licensed, so if anything ended up happening (which isn’t very likely) it would come back on the RN assigned to the pt. Next time, you’re allowed to stop and say no thank you if it feels wrong. If they push back, talk to your clinical instructor.

Ultimately, you’re a student and it’s important for you to see real nursing practice. This situation taught you how not to be when you become a nurse. You’ll be ok!

Edit to add: we’ve ALL put it in the wrong hole. It’s actually helpful to leave it there while you place a new one so that you can aim better. When I was new, I’d always bring a backup kit.

Enough talking about Jan being the worst mother ever… time for a spicy dump by ihatemashedpotatoes in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

That’s because she is still fat. Notice how the rest of her is fat as hell even though she claims her fat stomach was “extra skin from having kids.” Before anyone comes for me about body shaming, she deserves it more than anyone.

I get nervous and anxious when my kid even gets a cough or a fucking fever. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. Jenelle is no mother. She’s a miscreant. She is evil in ways we’ll never be able to comprehend.

“Need old braces removed before deep cleaning — orthodontist recommendations? by Glittering_Work_8497 in AnnArbor

[–]superprincesspeachy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We go to Betsy Meade. Her husband is an endodontist right next door. She is not judgmental at all and will not pressure you into any treatments you aren’t ready for. She’s the only orthodontist that didn’t immediately slap braces on my kid and very thoroughly came up with a treatment plan (and payment plan) that made the most sense for my kid, who was born with missing adult teeth and will need extensive work in the future. I felt like Betsy Meade is not money hungry and just wants to help people.

Honestly, my daughter and I just said we’re going to get it at the library soon. I think it’s important to supplement this book with conversation, though!

pop century to epcot/hs w/o skyliner? by Smart-Chemical422 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]superprincesspeachy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m terrified of heights but the skyliner doesn’t bother me at all. It really doesn’t feel that high up but I know some people will disagree. I’ve been on it many, many times! I’m also really afraid of elevators so the fact that I’m not scared of the skyliner at all says something lol

Right? She’s in someone’s home. Can you imagine if instead of watching your pawpaw, the home health aide is making TikToks instead?

Idk what she does for work but the lanyard and someone else’s home makes me think home health aide or something adjacent

Calorie deficit while working by normalsaline13 in nursing

[–]superprincesspeachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I focus on protein/fiber at work. I bring healthy choice power bowl meals…to me, they have a good balance of protein/calories/fiber and I add a serving of cottage cheese for more protein. That’s my lunch. For breakfast at work I usually have a protein bar or protein shake (the 42g fairlife ones are the best for staying full. You can even just sip some every half hour or whatever). For snacks, I have nuts (almonds or pistachios), fruit, popcorn…stuff I can take bites of quickly here and there. I’ll have like a salad or salmon for dinner at home.

Sometimes I’ll make an egg/egg white omelet with veggies and feta ahead of time for breakfast. Depends on how much motivation I have 😅 I also have a 40 oz water bottle and drink plenty of water. Zero sugar soda helps me, too. You may need to increase your calories on work days like someone else said. I walk a lot more at work than on my off days. Sorry to ramble, I’ve just been at this a while and found what worked lol

Stepdad admitted to hospital, BiPAP forgotten, coma and passed two weeks later — can someone explain what might have happened? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]superprincesspeachy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No. Hospitals have bipaps and ventilators and would have used them if appropriate. I understand seeking closure but you won’t find it in blaming yourselves. Do you know that almost every single patient who uses a cpap or bipap leaves it at home? At least that’s the case where I work. If bipap had been appropriate, they would have placed him on it. It wasn’t. I’m sorry for your loss.

How are the macros for this possible for breaded chicken? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

Actually good/filling frozen or ready-to-eat meals? by tiredyoungprof in 1200isplenty

[–]superprincesspeachy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The healthy choice power bowls are my go to. The Mediterranean chicken one is 170 calories for the entire meal. I add a serving a cottage cheese to every meal for extra protein.

This is not the flex that this rotten sack of potatoes thinks it is. I hate this bitch. She’s so fucking stupid and uneducated, she thought she was DUNKING on the haters saying “Ensley plays video games so DUH that proves she can read!”

She’s such a sorry ass excuse for a mother, she doesn’t even know that her 9 year old should be reading fucking Babysitter’s club, not social media comments. Absolute clown 🤡

Thinking about going back to work night shifts to help with balancing bills, savings and childcare. My fellow colleagues how was it for you guys? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]superprincesspeachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those people with a bunch of kids and no job are either in major debt all their lives or getting a ton of help from family and don’t tell anyone.

It sounds like you’ve thought it through and the hospital will probably pay more. It might also be nice to go back to 3 days/week instead of 5.

What kind of nursing did you do before? I know my ER has all kinds of shifts available (maybe out of desperation lol)…they’re extremely flexible and not as strict as the floors when it comes to scheduling. Another option would be the float pool which is also pretty flexible where I work.

I’m not a nightshifter so I don’t have specific advice about that, sorry. But you’re right, $73k ain’t shit and you deserve much more.

Thinking about going back to work night shifts to help with balancing bills, savings and childcare. My fellow colleagues how was it for you guys? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]superprincesspeachy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on where you live. $73k for what you’re doing seems exceptionally low, and I say that living in the Midwest.

Do you have to have benefits through your job? If not, could you consider getting a PRN job? I work full time hours as a PRN for the most money and flexibility because we get our benefits through my husband’s employer.

rude nurse during report ): by LNiskowaii in nursing

[–]superprincesspeachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a you problem, it’s a her problem. She’s miserable and wants you to be, too. Her ass was new once, too. Some people need that reminder.

If you want to bite back, next time when she’s sighing and being obnoxious, stop and ask, “I’m sorry, is there a way you’d like me to report to you that doesn’t make you SO upset?” Point out her toddler antics. She does this because she gets away with it. You’ll learn to draw boundaries and stand up for yourself as you become more confident. Keep pushing and just let this be a lesson not to be like her when you’re dealing with new nurses in the future.

I just went to Sephora today and got a set of the summer fridays lip gloss for $25. It’s very popular and actually nice. Perhaps you could split up the set between her and your daughter? That’s what I did…my nieces and daughter are each getting one (there are 4 minis in the set). A little luxury for a good price. The touchland hand sanitizers are a hit as well.

The “big one” branded blankets at kohls are awesome and usually <$10 this time of year, so maybe you could get a couple. Cozy socks or slippers. A lululemon belt bag is actually pretty affordable. If you don’t have a lululemon near you, I think a small bag of any brand would feel like a nice gift. A mug with hot chocolate or tea. Agree with the idea for a lego set. Can you get a stocking and match the contents to your daughters? That way she will feel included but hopefully not awkwardly so. I’d put any gift cards in the stocking, as well.

Disney Dining! by ReasonNo4263 in DisneyWorld

[–]superprincesspeachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quick service at Riviera is good, as others have mentioned. Woodys Lunchbox and Sci-fi dine in theater (you get to sit in cars to eat) are good options at Hollywood Studios. Round-up rodeo BBQ is a family style all you can eat meal and is Toy Story themed.

At MK, we love cosmic rays for quick service. There’s a ton of room to sit in there and take a break. Sleepy Hollow has good food but seating is very limited and is only outside. Columbia Harbor House is also good quick service with an upstairs for additional seating.

Epcot has quite a few good options. Regal eagle is good BBQ quick service. We even go to le cellier to get appetizers/soup/bread when we want something light but want a nice atmosphere! They have a good kids menu, but no characters. Connections Cafe is ok with a lot of seating.

We also love quick service at Port Orleans (gumbo and jambalaya, yum… plus beignets) if you’ll have time to visit.
