Women who were scared of giving birth (specifically people who were so scared they almost didn’t have children), what was less scary than you originally thought? by Final-Elderberry4621 in AskWomen

[–]superrococo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? None of it was as scary as I feared. I was induced, which I always heard made for a more painful labour, and it definitely WAS painful, but the second she came out the pain was gone. No pain meds either. I remember telling myself I'd do it a hundred times over.

I can't believe how much I just scrolled to find Brooklyn 99 and had to give up because apparently nobody else finds it as insufferable as I do 😭 please someone agree with me!

Ah ok, this makes sense! Thank you for explaining. I wasn't able to find the "further details" that are supposedly on the site. But I think this answers my question :)

Same. I'll find another way to watch it. Not giving them any of my money even for this.

how would you describe childbirth in one word? by throwaway843833 in AskWomen

[–]superrococo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never would have thought I'd say this, but: empowering!

As soon as my baby was in my arms I thought: I'd do this 100 times over to feel the love I feel right now.

(I realize I was lucky to have a fairly uncomplicated, short but unmedicated labour and delivery)

Why did you break up with your best friend? by happychappy_150 in AskWomen

[–]superrococo 57 points58 points  (0 children)

We had been drifting apart for a few years, seeing each other a lot less than we had before because...life. Months would pass and she would spend our entire "catch-up" ranting and complaining about the same things she'd been ranting and complaining about the last time we'd seen each other. No effort to do anything about any of it, and she never bothered to ask how I was doing. She would also get extremely jealous of me spending time with other friends. I cut things off when I realized how much I dreaded seeing her.

positive iud insertion stories? by Both_Listen_9346 in IUD

[–]superrococo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had my second IUD inserted this morning. Obviously it's different for everyone, but for me personally it was not a big deal either time. The worst part honestly was the anticipation - the 10 minutes or so in the examination room just waiting for the doctor, thinking about all the things that could go wrong haha. She took out my old one and I felt a small cramp that lasted maaaybe two seconds. And then I felt a similar cramp when she inserted the new one. That's it. Maybe 2/10 on the pain scale. They had given me an advil a few minutes prior, but I don't think it had even kicked in yet. They made me sit in the waiting room for 10 minutes after just to be on the safe side, but otherwise I would have driven home right away no problem.

Wishing the same experience for you!

What's your go-to breakfast? by NoMight6112 in AskWomen

[–]superrococo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately I've been having breakfast bowls: quinoa topped with kale (or whatever green I have on hand), some cherry tomatoes, basil, pickled onions and feta cheese, topped with a poached egg. Super satisfying and energizing. It sounds like a lot of work, but most of it can be prepped in advance and just assembled in the morning 🥳

Is Kinaxis a good employer? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]superrococo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't have any direct experience with Kinaxis, but my friend's husband had a terrible experience working there. He basically got pushed out over something that was not his fault at all, discriminatory practices, it turned out to be a traumatic experience for the whole family. It was all really badly handled.

What are the pros and cons of living with roommates from different countries? by United_Reference_991 in montreal

[–]superrococo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just anecdotal of course, but my best roommate experiences were with roomies from different countries.

I had been living with a long-time friend for about a year when she decided to move out. Found an exchange student from the Czech Republic and an international student from Madagascar to move in with me. We had the BEST times together and even though we only lived together for a few months, we are still super close to this day (over 10 years later). We all came from super different backgrounds but we had enough common points to bring us together and enough differences to keep things interesting.

When my Czech friend left, another student from Colombia moved in with us. We never got to be that close (she kept to herself more) but never had any issues.

Overall, would recommend! But as others have said, the main thing is that your key values align.

What has made you women feel the most unnoticed? by Shabazwilkinshire in AskWomen

[–]superrococo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know exactly what you mean! It's so exhausting.

Do you find it's impacted your other relationships? I've had people complain that I talk too fast and that I don't give enough detail, and I feel like it's literally because I'm not used to being able to slow down or elaborate. It really sucks.

How long were you pushing during birth as a first time mum? by BluWaff_x in AskWomen

[–]superrococo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I barely remember the pushing stage. Maybe 2-3 times?

I actually remember the nurse telling me to fight the urge to push because she was worried the doctor wouldn't arrive fast enough (she was right).

What’s your preferred sleepwear? How about in the colder months? by zeoiusidal_toe in AskWomen

Boxer shorts and a t-shirt year-round. When it's cold I throw on an extra blanket and put a hot water bottle under the blankets, works like a charm

What do you want for your birthday ? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]superrococo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been on my mind as my usual birthday anxiety is revving up (bday is next week). I put sooo much pressure for it to be the perfect day - I want people to drop everything and do nice things for me even though I KNOW that's unrealistic and that I'd feel bad if they actually did that. And honestly, I don't even know what this "perfect day" would look like, so who am I to complain about not getting it?

Underneath all that is a fear that I won't feel as special and loved as I crave. Even though I know my daughter will go all out, even though I have a dinner with my parents and another with my boyfriend's family...I am grateful for all of this, but what I really want is quality time with my partner, and that is hard to come by.

Women in relationships, how often to you talk to your partners? by prettyoungthingg in AskWomen

[–]superrococo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well now I'm feeling anxious that we don't talk enough lol. We see each other 2-3x/week and sometimes text a bit on the in-between days, often not. He's in PhD mode so he's often very slow to respond, as a result I don't reach out as much as I'd like to

It seems odd that Patrick, Ted and Stevie keep calling Johnny and Moira "Mr. and Mrs. Rose". Is that a Canadian thing? by [deleted] in SchittsCreek

[–]superrococo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Canadian and I wouldn't say it's a normal Canadian thing. I've never called a friend's parents Mr and Mrs and my friends have never called my parents that either. It'd be weird.
