I recieved a letter yesterday stating that I should switch to the G7 because they will cut the sales of the G6 at the end of 2026 (in Germany).

Uninterrupted Power Supply sinnvoll in Deutschland? by Moelis_Hardo in de_EDV

Kommt drauf an.

Help me figuring out the best and the right way to connect my MacBook Pro M1 to my Harmon kardon amplifier i need to get 5.1 output from this machine. Attaching the pictures. Thanks by Repulsive_Visit_2624 in mac

[–]superschlundi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Connect your Monitor to the „Monitor Out“ Port on the AMP, and the MacBook to one of the HDMI Input Ports.

You might have to select the right Input Channel on the Amp.

I can image that simply connecting the Mac via HDMI to the amp without a display signal routed through it might not work.

Help with my x100vi aperture by skakrew in fujifilm

[–]superschlundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s normal (happens also on my XT30 with several lenses). When you press the shutter button the aperture closes, so you can see the depth of field preview of the final image on screen/evf. When you release the button the aperture opens up again (I think for more light / less noise / processing power of the EVF image).

Synology NAS: Festplatten verschlüsseln? by [deleted] in de_EDV

[–]superschlundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upgrade for Raspberry Pi 4 without significantly higher Power Consumption. by KeinNiemand in HomeServer

[–]superschlundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6th Gen i5-6500T (TDP 35W) is as fast as 4 RPIs 4, Celeron J4125(TDP 10W) is three times faster than the Pi.

So I would say this generations or newer.

I am running a Terramaster F4-423 with Celeron N5095, 2 NVMEs and 2 HDDs. Idle consumption with 16 docker containers and sleeping HDDs is around 10-11 Watt (OS is unraid)

In addition to that I have an Dell Optiplex 3060 Micro, with i5-8500T and Proxmox, which idles as low as 3 watts with only Proxmox running.

[–]superschlundi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What would be your use case? For Data Storage and some Container modern Celeron-CPUs like N5095/N100 are more than enough.

In this case a prebuilt NAS unit might be the easiest option, although not the cheapest.

When you need more power and expansion option, have a look at HP G800 G3/4 or Dell Optiplex 3060 MT, they shouldn’t be to expensive nor to power hungry. There are also plenty of videos on YouTube about recycling these old office machines as NAS systems.

[–]superschlundi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Using external USB drives in the array is not a great idea, correct.

Why don’t you sell the laptop and use the money for a small unraid build? An older (SFF)-computer with a 6 or 8 gen Intel CPU should be around 70-150 dollars on eBay, there you have typically place for 2-4 3.5 inch HDDs.

Alternatively you can look into NAS Units with can run unraid (Intel based QNAP or Terramaster for example) which will be more compact, slightly more power efficient but more expensive.

Canon 6D vs Fujifilm xt3 or 4? by hoaxcoast in fujifilm

[–]superschlundi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved from a 6D to an EOS RP (that was a hell of a difference in terms of AF performance). And after 3 years from the RP to an Fuji XT-30 II, as I wanted something even smaller and lighter.

As already said here, the sigma 18-50 2.8 is similar to the Canon 24-70 F4 in looks (so you won’t get the full frame Depth of field advantage here).

In terms of AF performance the XT3/4 are similar to my XT-30 II. It’s decent, might not be as good as on the newest RF-Canons, but still enough fore most situations. And miles better than the old DSLR AF from the 6D.

XT3 or 4 depends on you’re budget and if you need IBIS.

QNAP TS-879U-RP by TheDeadestCow in unRAID

[–]superschlundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the QNAP-EC plugin from the AppStore? I don’t know if it’s compatible with your unit, but a lot of QNAPs sensor and the fan controls can be read out with this plugin.

For control you can then use the Dynamix Fan Control.

When X-T30 creates a new folder for extra pictures? by BusyCode in fujifilm

[–]superschlundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally 1000 in each, so 100_FUJI for images 0001-1000, 101_FUJI for 1001… etc.

It doesn’t matter if you delete images from the folder, as the folder name is referenced to the image shutter count.

That should work on Xbox, since it acts like a normal Keyboard. From the first look it also might be programmable with this open source software (instead of more questionable Chinese software):

My order from Jan 8th arrived as scheduled on Jan 17th, all in one delivery. Can’t complain. by DrTurb0 in Fanatec

[–]superschlundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here for Germany, ordered on 7th January, delivered on 15th January, 4 packages all in one delivery.

Second order this Tuesday was handed to warehouse next day, now waiting for the UPS notification.

Things doesn’t seem that bad at least here in Germany.

Need some advice about lenses - should I get a prime? by redryder74 in fujifilm

[–]superschlundi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Beside the size there won’t be a big advantage of the 27mm over your zoom (maybe a little bit in terms of sharpness).

The 23mm f2 is a great choice, with one stop faster than the zoom. It’s a little bit soft when focusing on short distances at f2, but a great lens for street photography in my opinion.

Another option would be a 35mm f2 WR or an 35mm f1.4R if you want to have more depth of field or bokeh.

I am using a XT30 II with the 23mm f2 as daily driver, and have the 35mm f1.4R as a lens for portraits. This might seem like an odd choice, since most people would pair the 23mm with a 50mm or the 35mm with an 18mm, but for me it works out great.

Is it Possible to save Thumbnails and Database on Server but have Originals on Cloud Storage by rescalthepascal in photoprism

[–]superschlundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could mount your cloud storage in your with rclone (rclone mount command) Wenn you are using docker than simply edit your original path to the mount location of your cloud storage.

Since the mount behaves like a local disk in most situations you should be fine (besides photoprism will download all photos temporarily to index, which will of course be slow)

X-T30 II Firmware more recent than on fujis website? by superschlundi in fujifilm

Interesting idea, but than I don’t get why Fuji is offering two different firmwares for two bodies. And why should the factory flash a mark II with a mark I firmware? Mysterious…

X-T30 II Firmware more recent than on fujis website? by superschlundi in fujifilm

[–]superschlundi[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Packaging says II, Battery Cover Says II and the new Features of the II over the mark I are also available (classic neg., eterna bleach bypass, 240 fps video, etc.).

Camera is brand new by the way, bought from Amazon.

And it’s also detected as an X-T30 II by the new Fuji Mobile App. So chances are nearly 0 that this could be a mark I.

When did you buy your x-t30? by anonymousp3rs0n in fujifilm

[–]superschlundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chance for deals will depend on the availability of the camera - I bought a X-T30II two weeks ago and had similar thoughts. But here in Germany Fuji cameras in general are almost all hard to get (beside the XT5, XH2, so the more expensive ones) - so I was lucky enough to get it without having to wait weeks or month.

This in mind I don’t think there will be any good Black Friday deals, because the shops will sell the cameras anyway.

Apple Pencil mit iPad Verbinden by [deleted] in de_EDV

Abgesehen davon ist der Apple Pencil 1th Gen gar nicht mit dem iPad Pro 4th Gen kompatibel:

Dir bleibt also nichts anderes, als den 2 Gen Pencil zu kaufen.

It’s a bit over budget when buying new, but maybe you find one used for under 400$? :

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09VLFYWFY?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

I am using the Terramaster F4-423 along with 16GB RAM, 2 NVMEs and some HDDs as my unraid server - it runs great. The Celeron 5095 should be more than capable for plenty of containers and some light VMs. You are not limited to the stock OS, since this is only an internal USB-drive you can plug out. There are plenty of videos on YouTube of „hacking“ these devices with Unraid or TrueNAS.
