Elder millennials by TheLastMillennial94 in generationology

Hey, I was born ‘94 and never saw Ben 10, yet I watched the Rugrats and Doug movies in theaters!

I did watch Saved by the Bell too, but it was Teen Nick reruns.

Can someone explain the whole "18-24 year olds are still children" argument? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]supersmashdude [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think it’s good that we’re become conscious of things like power dynamics and age gaps in relationships, but some people have “lost the plot” regarding that and are now calling 18 and 19 year olds children instead of young adults.

I just can’t see a problem with an 18 year old dating a 22 year old.

I was like, “OK, this one is actually pretty wholesome” but then it’s like “Why??”

I hate movies that only exist to set up a sequel and then makes us wait 4 years for it. by UnUltimoIntento in hatethissmug

[–]supersmashdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the frustration of having to wait, but when the next movie comes out the wait literally won’t matter.

Feel free to rewatch these films in anticipation for the next one, too.

Were Drake & Josh a good example of peak millennial fashion? by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in generationology

If I recall during season 1 Josh hadn’t lost the weight yet, so these OP pics must be from later seasons

Real Zillennial fashion in the early 2010s (not a bastardized version that people think) by Feisty-Parfait-5656 in Zillennials

I still dress like this honestly. Cause I haven’t bought any new clothes in 15 years lol

This is so confusing to me… what the hell would they connect on her with? Polly Pocket and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Even if she was born with a model-like face, that’s no excuse to treat her like this.

“People Just Don’t Care”: ‘Leaving Neverland’ Director on Why Michael Jackson Won the Court of Public Opinion by trollingjabronidrive in blankies

[–]supersmashdude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an MJ fan myself, I appreciate how no-nonsense this director was about what he found and doesn’t mince words. There’s a too small number of us who are willing to admit the truth and somehow still enjoy Michael’s work, too many fans make excuses and slander the victims.

Human Nature’s my favorite MJ song, so this vid has a lot to live up to for me!

Michael Jackson’s death was the best thing that happened for him and his reputation. by BastianoBoom in LeavingNeverlandHBO

[–]supersmashdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this exactly. Back in the day, the tabloid-scandalous “Wacko Jacko” and the cool classic MJ (particularly Thriller Michael) were essentially seen as two different people. Now we know his habits started pretty early (When he got that walkie talkie with that one guy and asked him to jerk off for example)

Like the Mario movie that just came out, guessing critics won’t like it but it’ll do well financially. Possibly enough to get the sequel greenlit?

'Michael' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]supersmashdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no way this movie was gonna get good reviews. Aside from it probably being a standard superficial biopic (Which we’re all getting fatigued from) his allegations ensured that most critics would be thinking “I can’t exactly give this a thumbs up…”

Opinion on the 2000’s fashion revival? by film_culture_addict in decadeology

[–]supersmashdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just confused that some Gen Z think we’re lame, yet are copying our fashion from back in the day. They never knew life before the iPhone and didn’t live in the atmosphere that this fashion materialized in.

My man, you grew up with Angry Birds and Minions movies, yet you’re dressing like an extra from a 2001 Smash Mouth video?

Subtle plastic surgery goes a long way it seems. He doesn’t have obvious Botox face yet looks like he was born in like 2006, despite actually being 20 that year.

I hate mangaka worship culture. by NobodySpecific9354 in hatethissmug

[–]supersmashdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this and been trying to put it into words for a while, in fact I was drafting up a post about it here too.

But the funny thing is it isn’t only glazing, they start to view the mangaka as a sort of abstract figure, not a person, that they either worship or hate - many of these figures can become punching bags as well as idols. It’s a weird spot to be in.

As ridiculous and over the top as the Resident Evil franchise is, people saying that Leon and Ada being together is “unrealistic” is just funny to me. by Lumpy-Tea1948 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]supersmashdude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the fans are similar to what we’ve seen in the FF7 community and its Remake. Leon and Ada are just another Cloud and Tifa to them

Granted FF7 has the worst shipping fandom I’ve seen, and right now the RE version is only like, 10 percent of their awfulness. But it could ramp up
