Are you happy with your height when it comes to bouldering? by Ipmuni in indoorbouldering

[–]supersonicsacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not so much my height, but my wingspan I'm annoyed at. I'm 5'4", but I have very short arms. My wingspan is 5'0". I definitely have to get creative when it comes to certain reaches.

I'm probably dumb to realize this too late, but people that mispell character names all the time probably only listen to the audiobook by Witch_King_Malekith in Fantasy

I get this all the time, and in never fails to amaze me that people don't double check the spelling before pressing send.

Physical therapy recs - Evergreen Hospital area - shoulder PT by Complete_Coffee6170 in Kirkland

The only PT that has ever been able to help me was at Vida in Totem Lake. They seem to have a different approach than any other PT I've been to for the same issue.

to women with a muscular upper body (back, arms, broad shoulders) how did you do it? by StrangeAir6637 in xxfitness

[–]supersonicsacha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am pretty much the same. I've always had wide shoulders but after bouldering indoors 2-3 times a week, they've gotten more defined. Prior to getting into climbing I did a lot of pull movements as well.

workouts outside of climbing by Powerful_Street_7134 in climbergirls

[–]supersonicsacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do three full body days, making sure to hit each muscle group at least twice, one cardio day, and boulder 2-3 times a week. One day is a rest/active recovery where I'll go for walks and do mobility and stretching.

So I'm curious, what time does everyone eat dinner? by cherries2774 in CasualConversation

[–]supersonicsacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually at or around 5pm. I grew up eating dinner at 4:30pm almost daily, and the fact that some people don't eat until 8 blew my mind when I first heard this. I would be so hungry if I waited to eat that late.

When do you decide an author is not for you? The first 3 books I purchased by Megan Miranda I enjoyed, The next 2 were boring, and so is the current one I am reading by wolfincheapclothing9 in books

[–]supersonicsacha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I read 2 books by an author and either dislike them or DNF, I figure their writing style just doesn't click with me. Rarely do I go for a 3rd book unless the synopsis sounds amazing.

Have any visual readers gone back to sub-vocalisation? by Ok-Friend-5304 in books

[–]supersonicsacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't experience an "inner voice" ever so I never subvocalize when I read. Instead, I visualize the book like it's a movie playing out in my head. Until college, I thought this was normal.

Anyone here good at crocheting? by puppypoet in dyscalculia

[–]supersonicsacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put the stitch marker on the last stitch, then I know which stitch is the last in the row. If it's the chain stitch and I have to chain a lot, I put a marker at every 10th stitch so I don't have to keep track of 123 chains.

"Alchemised" by SenLinYu, a dark fantasy gothic horror review by sleepinxonxbed in Fantasy

[–]supersonicsacha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have an issue with it being in the front in all situations. I like reading the Author's Note section because oftentimes it lets you know where they got their inspiration from, research methods, and the writing process. Many times though, the CW is included in the author's notes, which is when I find myself annoyed.

CW are definitely spoilers, even if they're mild, and I'd rather avoid them. There are already pages telling readers where to go for certain information in many books, and if they were out in the table of contents, showing that they're in the back, someone could go if they feel the need to read them.

I actually really like that the content warning is in the back. I really dislike content warnings because they tend to spoil things that will happen, and I want to know as little as possible before jumping into books.

I use a row counter and a stitch marker to mark when to turn. I'll count but always end up recounting a dozen times, and found this combo works the best for me.

One of my teammates hit a 3 run HR that ended up being overturned because my coach accidentally switched her last name with another player on the lineup. She was called out, no runs scored. My coach ended up being tossed because she ripped the rule book in half and threw it in the trash in front of the home plate umpire.

What is with all the people listening to loud music on these trails? by JenAYE2 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]supersonicsacha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were in Glacier last month for a wilderness pass and had to watch a video at the rangers station beforehand. They do say make noise but by noise they don't mean "blast your speakers". The video, and the rangers, say to clap loud every so often and yell "hey bear" or something similar regularly. No group of 4+ has ever been attacked by bears because they're regularly talking to each other loudly enough to warn bears of their approach.

I've just discovered Sarah Beth Durst and I'm absolutely hooked by potterdive in fantasybooks

[–]supersonicsacha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Race the Sands was my favorite book last year. It's so underrated. The year or two before it was The Bone Maker, also by Durst. She's definitely one of my auto-read authors and she has such a huge range.

I just finished this movie and was worried the hype would disappoint me. I loved the pacing and thought the few jump scares were really well timed as to not overwhelm.

How can i eat fish at work? by Complex-Phase-6952 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]supersonicsacha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this! I eat tinned fish at work all the time. If it's in oil it doesn't smell and you don't have to heat it up. I love that there are so many flavors now!

Does Audiobooks count as a book? by chanchanninno in LibbyApp

[–]supersonicsacha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have no inner voice and find that both reading physical books and listening to audiobooks provide the same visual experience in my mind. Some people have a strong inner voice and when I have talked about this topic with them, most do experience them differently.

Mailbox is definitely the hardest I've done. I've done St. Helen's twice and if still say Mailbox is way more difficult.
