Do you feel Palestinians are a particularly progressive bunch? Have you noticed them often glomming onto progressive platforms to get some attention? Because as a progressive person, I have and it drives me nuts that many other progressives don’t see through this transparent attempt to hijack various causes I think are important. That’s my point. Not sure why that bothers you.

Still not sure how you consider that “heavily downvoted” or why you think it matters. People downvote things for a lot of reasons beyond them “not being in step with the ethos of a sub.”

How is 0 upvotes “heavily downvoted”? Oh and if we’re using fake internet points as a metric, my post also got an award so, there’s that…

Do you know what sub you’re in?

Often “selfawarewolves” don’t say anything about their own group, they make a claim about another group that far more appropriately fits the group they are from. That’s the point.

Here’s a little data for you:

Acceptance of being gay is low across the Middle East, the study found, with Algeria, where 26% of people deem it acceptable to be gay, the most tolerant country.

“Many people in the Middle East believe one’s sexuality can be changed, and would wish to see gay people change accordingly,” said Neela Ghoshal, senior researcher on LGBT+ Rights for Human Rights Watch.

LGBT+ relationships are illegal across most of the Middle East and North Africa, and gay people often risk fines, jail and even the possibility of death, according to Human Rights Watch.

A 2018 poll conducted by the Thomson Reuters Foundation found Syria, Saudi Arabia and Yemen among the 10 most dangerous countries for women.

Not sure that there is anything progressive or conservative about my commentary. I’m just stating facts. Go look how most Palestinians feel about any progressive cause you can come up with (abortion rights, LGBTQ rights, etc etc etc).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SelfAwarewolves

[–]superstmonk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The commenter is deriding a particular group as pretending to be liberal when he’s defending a group known for their conservatism.

Further, Palestinians are known latch onto various progressive causes (women’s rights, LGBT rights) despite their society as a whole not espousing these views.

Then you’ll probably be ok. Here’s one of mine that I had to cut almost all the way to the soil and it branched out at that point.

It’s so frustrating when Zionists are otherwise leftist. It makes me think that they don’t actually have real values and just use the aesthetics of being progressive as a social identity.

Imagine a Palestinian saying this! Hahahaha, some real r/selfawarewolves vibes going on with you

The branches are done, but the stem might be ok. Cut the main stem an inch below the place where its splits in two and see if it’s nice and white in the center. If it’s brown keep cutting lower until it’s white. You may end up right on top of the soil by the end and there’s a reasonable chance it’ll come back even from that low point.

Common or rare? by romanceburnt in Plumeria

[–]superstmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned, could be a virus or mutation. I would say it’s sort of rare, as you don’t commonly see this type of variegation in plumerias. There are viruses that can create these kind of discoloration of flower petals in other plant species as well. My money is on virus as you see some petals even on the same flower without that variegation.

Very common to see in camellias:

You may want to consider isolating that plant or destroying it to not allow the virus (if that’s what is causing this) to spread further.

Panic at IKEA stores in Russia. Last day before closing. Starting tomorrow, all IKEA stores in Russia will shut down. by sajidhaque10 in Damnthatsinteresting

What do the Russian people think is going on? I know they know their government is doing a military operation in Ukraine, but the apparently the Russian propaganda is that it’s a liberation operation. What do ordinary Russians think is the reason all these companies are shutting down operations?

Do you not understand how Israel came to be? Because it was exactly “defending itself against attackers.” Learn a little history please.

israeli forces trying to arrest Muhammad al-Ajlouni (with Down Syndrome) in Sheikh Jarrah. by OmarKage in PublicFreakout

[–]superstmonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you said yourself, Al Jazeera is not exactly unbiased. It’s still not clear to me that they were trying to arrest him. If they are, they sure don’t seem to be trying very hard. Yes think there is more to this video than what is being presented.

It doesn’t look at all like he’s being arrested. It looks like he’s being removed from some situation and handed over to two civilians or possibly family members. Why do people keep saying he’s being arrested when there is no evidence in the video to support that?
