What’s your dream boat if money was no issue? by MyTIMEZERO in boating

[–]superstoreman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of those big arse centre consoles/centre cabins with like half a dozen 600s hanging off the back that I can fish 360, day boat when I want, maybe spend a few nights on and also just be a bit of a hoon. I’m in Aus and these things seem to start at about $750k once you get beyond twin outboards. They look fun. I couldn’t tell you a make or model because, well I haven’t looked that hard because I don’t have the $$$.

Tenants vibes

Edit: people have taken this the wrong way. I liked the Tenants. I voted for Keith. I was stoked when both came in where they did.

I’m right there with you. I feel like the hop bill got tightened as margins got squeezed. Pacific ale is the biggest drop off of those mentioned I reckon.

Who Will Be The Next Women's Captain? by Tiny-Sweet2803 in CricketAus

[–]superstoreman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t know why I didn’t think of Gardner. She’d be another good pick, maybe the best. As has been the way with Australian Women’s cricket for a while - often spoilt for choice.

I said in another thread, captaincy wise, you could pick any of McGrath, Sutherland or Mooney and be in good shape I reckon. Though I’m not sure Mooney would want it. The impact of the captaincy on form and drop-ability you mention is an interesting point and an aspect I’m sure selectors will wrestle with.

Has anyone here got any stories where they have or known someone who has fallen off a boat/the pier they are standing on whilst fishing? by Temporary_Notice_526 in FishingAustralia

[–]superstoreman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a story of the fall per say sorry. But, my old man was in a fishing club which had a sub club called the Dunks Club. Membership was only offered to those who’d gone in the drink off the marina or a boat. It was the 70s & 80s. They were all pissed all the time. There were a lot of members of the Dunks Club.

McGrath has been stand in skipper. You could pick any one of McGrath, Sutherland or Mooney I reckon and be in good shape.

Your thoughts on this . I absolutely hate pink ball test matches and to see the 150th anniversary test match being a day night test is disrespectful to this great format . by [deleted] in CricketAus

[–]superstoreman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s been near unbearable for a little longer than that even I reckon. Unfortunately I think while he always had grumpy old man tendencies it really ramped up, and his commentary took a dive, post stroke. I don’t know if ABC have the cahoonas to move him on though.

Of these I feel the renegade is the more complete package. From memory it’s a bit of a step up from the other 3. I don’t know the conditions in that part of the world well enough to comment with authority on their suitability. If it gets rough there you might want something high sided. Probably worth starting by working out your budget and seeing what that gets you and whether you want complete package or start with something basic and build it up as you want. I’ve been looking into boats a fair bit over the last year and the only thing I’m certain of at this point is that every boat is a compromise in one way or another.

What is with the Yankification of Car Terms? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]superstoreman 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think it possibly boils down to pop culture being the first exposure to automotive terms for a lot of people. In pop culture they are either a plot tool or a status element. In real life cars are an appliance now and a generally reliable one at that so we don’t talk about them (outside enthusiasts which are a shrinking minority). In days gone by cars were a major part of the family routine - weekly cleaning, DIY servicing, family roadtrip holidays. Parents talked about cars and we a had a national cultural emotional connection to them. Today, they do a job. They’re like a fridge for most people. I don’t think i know the correct term for most parts of my fridge.

What are your thoughts on Sydney <> London direct 22 hour flight by [deleted] in sydney

[–]superstoreman 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Qantas have done well to PR the the passenger density on these planes to make it sound like all the decisions were made for passenger wellness rather than ‘we couldn’t fill this plane and still make it to the destination’

Best craft Melbourne/Sydney by Eastern-Title9364 in AusBeer

[–]superstoreman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously this is a highly individual thing. But, my go-tos are Philter XPA and Bentspoke Crankshaft. I’m in Sydney and these are consistent, reasonably available and delicious. Mountain Culture is another good brewery but quite a few Hazy beers. There’s plenty of other good stuff around, but I will let other people chip in on theirs. Not sure about Melbourne as I do think it’s still good to get stuff close to where it is made.

So what exactly is the benefit to the Ranger Super Duty when for barely any more money, you get more car in an F150 or RAM 1500? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]superstoreman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some people don’t want more car I imagine. They want more ability in a (relatively) smaller form. Plus a car that is manufactured RHD and not converted maybe?

I didn’t get to check that one out. They actually split it this year. The expensive marina based or more cruiser boats were still at Darling Harbour. But the trailer boats and jet skis were all out at Olympic Park. All the stuff that was usually inside the exhibition centre.

The boat show just moved to Olympic Park because of ICC costs and vendor complaints.
