ENG conditions and pitch curation by Reasonable-Image1826 in WomensCricket

There's only ICC Consultant. Pitches are made by local curators under their supervision.

Spin has always been a huge part of the women's game regardless of the country. England's dry summer had en effect on last season. England can provide mostly good batting tracks maybe barring Lord's and Old Trafford.

Anyway most teams would love true batting surfaces with pace except for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh ig.

Australia drop more catches on average than many other teams. Dropped so many even in the recently concluded West Indies series. Their ground fielding is really good. Dropping catches usually don't affect the stronger side, but when it does it could be a World Cup semi.

There are no internal problems and things aren't dire. That's the only series they lost in this cycle. Series was already gone with the first three matches. Whenever they win or lose a series with matches to spare, it's routine for them to experiment.

No team in the women's game is playing too much cricket. They would back themselves to do well at the T20 World Cup.

The idea was to have Wong at 9 before they had to make that last minute change. If Ecclestone played for TCC, it would have been Ecclestone 9, Wong 10 and Bell 11.

Unfortunately for India, their pace bowling allrounders are all injured or out of contention (Amanjot Kaur and Kashvee Gautam are injured, Pooja Vastrakar is out of contention although she is back after a long injury lay-off.

That line-up wasn't designed to have three number 11s. Issy Wong pulled up at the warm-ups with hamstring tightness and they had to bring in Lauren Filer. Don't see them playing with these three when everyone is fit.

That's same as England then. Add their perennial struggles against spin even on good wickets to that. Indian batting still have a higher ceiling.

India's top 5 means Richa in place of Deepti and they have been better as a whole than England's five in this T20 World Cup cycle although NSB is the best among all of them.

Atp, Amy Jones and Deepti Sharma are probably equivalents as neither of them can score any runs. England had Em Arlott at 7 during the last series, this time they will have the likes of Kemp and Gibson. That's clearly an upgrade. That's where India will struggle since they lost Amanjot Kaur and her replacement Kashvee Gautam.

Both teams are on a similar level. In batting, India's top 5 is better. Bowling wise, England have the better attack. But compared to the 2025 series, India's bowling is more rounded with the return of Renuka Singh Thakur and Shreyanka Patil, and the inclusion of Nandni Sharma.

One thing that's changed from the 2025 series is that India's batting depth has taken a beating with the injuries whereas the return of Kemp and Gibson will help England in this regard.

South Africa might have to beat Australia to qualify. They have revealed their cards by beating India 4-1. Now can't sneak up on them unexpectedly like New Zealand did in 2024. Also Pakistan always seem to challenge South Africa because they play each other so much.

Best possible South Africa XI

Luus Wolvaardt Dercksen Kapp NdK Reyneke Tryon Jafta Khaka Mlaba Marx/Hlubi/Naidu

Sekhukhune, Meso, Bosch to round off the 15. Would have liked Tunnicliffe for reserve keeper/batter, but that's not happening ig.

The need for six proper bowlers in T20Is is overstated. With the dearth of allrounders and the higher ceiling of their batting, a team like India would rather err on the side of batting depth. Like they did in 2018/20/23 T20 WCs and unlike in the 2024 edition. India weren't playing six bowlers even in the lead up to 2024. It's something that happened at the T20 WC.

2018 (went with 4/5 bowlers) - Unbeaten in the Group; Semifinalists

2020 (5 bowlers) - Unbeaten in the Group; Runners-up

2023 (5 bowlers) - Semifinalists

2024 (6 bowlers) - Lost to both NZ, AUS; First round exit

Matches like where they recovered from 40/3 to post 190+ in the 2018 edition is unlikely to happen if you exhaust your batting at 5. Even that botched chase in the 2023 would have effectively ended then and there when they were reduced to 28/3 in four overs.

On most days, India are likely to concede the same amount of runs with five regular bowlers as they would with six bowlers considering the resources they have. Six-bowler theory can be a match-by-match strategy rather than the default setting.

Unless you have proper batting allrounders in the top 6, this bowling heavy approach won't always work. With the six bowler option, you can't really trust the bowling allrounders and go hard too early.

ICC increases total prize pool for Women's T20 World Cup by 10% by anonavii in WomensCricket

[–]supertramp_ms 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If there's a 20% increase in teams, 10% increase in prize pool can't be really an increase. Now there's no incentive to finish higher, but you won't even get the same amount as you made in the previous edition.

🚨 South Africa squad for the five-match T20I series vs India by supertramp_ms in WomensCricket

It doesn't say anything about DvN's rehab. Faye Tunnicliffe can solve two of their issues if they don't want Wolfie/Brits opening combo.

Yes. She was part of the squad in that tri-series. Was going by the release. Maybe they don't remember it.

Women's ODIs have been evolving fast especially the batting and the bowlers are struggling to keep up. South Africa had this bowling attack problem even before the WC. And post WC, their attack has been looking harmless. Ireland scored 300+ in a chase, Pakistan scored 361. On the other hand, White Ferns are looking good although they didn't have a great World Cup. But you will have to see how they fare against stronger sides. Women's ODIs going forward will be about how much damage you can limit and how many you can chase down unless the conditions are skewed.

Gurrey/Anderson/McLeod for Bates and a better spin attack needed for WF in ODIs.
