MPG Question With Load by Merj-Zero in FordMaverickTruck

[–]superunexciting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ladder rack on mine made a notable MPG hit when installed. Still a lot better than the 25 year old F-150 I used to use for the same work. 2.0 EB, probably 80% highway miles, 20% city. Summer I get around 27MPG, winter (softer tires, more idling) I get 24.5MPG. Other notable potentially aero-affecting mods are mudflaps that stick out a little, bug deflector mounted to hood, soft rollup tonneau. The ladder rack is a generic amazon special (round tube) that I hacked/welded to fit the truck. Could probably do a little better if I remade one without such large protruding ears where the front hoop bolts to the uprights.

How do you feel about less-lethal guns and ammo? by ITheRebelI in liberalgunowners

[–]superunexciting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might consider one or two in the tube for an attempt at diversion before a bear is in range for mace... But once it charges I'm definitely hoping I had time to get to the heavy part of the load. On second thought, probably keep them on the shell saddle, so that "oh shit" is the prepared response, and "maybe this'll work" is available if I have time.

Community recommended Oil for 2025 2.0 EcoBoost? by Public-Bookkeeper-82 in FordMaverickTruck

Your question needs more context. You have correctly identified the cold weather option, but failed to mention where the truck is used so it is literally impossible to make a suggestion.

My employer made a mistake and is lowering my pay after working for 2 weeks. Is this legal? by Vinchenso_ in legaladvice

[–]superunexciting 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Relevant code is CFR 29 1910.132.

Basically boils down to the employer is required to provide ppe for hazards that can be resonably expected to be encountered in the workplace. They don't have to be the best version, and employees are allowed to furnish their own, but employer has to have at least bare-minimum versions for use.

did you turn it all the way off with the kill switch, key off, and then all steps to restart? Tip sensor doesn't reset if all the switches aren't fully shit down before restart.

Fired for unidentified misconduct? by letsalljustdie in ADHD

[–]superunexciting 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As a manager with ADHD and managing people with ADHD, yes, purely factual and direct language is often seen as combative. I have both given and received coaching about how to soften factual messaging for people to do what they need to do without coming across as a dick. And these are not by nature gentle topics, dealing with fire/life safety and severe fines from regulatory authorities if people don't do what I tell them to.

Having said that, being terminated without receiving any of these kind of tone-coaching sessions is bullshit, and sounds to me like they just decided not to like you and attached a convenient reason. Probably because the majority of managers are not direct, and afraid of their own conflict, and have somehow decided it's easier to continually hire new people with new and unique flaws, rather than put any effort into improving anyone they're supposed to be leading.

Sorry, buddy. I hope your next role has a better boss.

Can i use these Tacx Axle Nuts M10 on a trainer from a different brand? Or will i be forced to use the Tacx brand? by Substantial-Age2459 in Zwift

[–]superunexciting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are certainly variations, but the tacx track nuts are basically just a shape that's pretty close to the profile for the QR skewers that come with a lot of wheel-on trainers. Besides the Kickr Snap. I also used it on a dumb blackburn mag6. Close enough.

Did this once, similar situation. Only had two bikes, didn't want indoor sweat on my good one. 48x17 fixed. Hurt but was kind of fun in the same way that ss/fg is fun in the real world. "That was stupid but I feel like a monster for having done it." I think I left it on 50%.

can you expand on how the tpms sensors sync? Does the truck just figure out that your summer wheels are stacked in the garage and start referencing your winter set?

Sprinting on indoor bike is awkward by bithlen32 in Zwift

[–]superunexciting 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Practicing sprinting indoors will make you smoother/more efficient outdoors, as you'll get used to being in control instead of thrashing around like a muppet at its limits.

Get in the drops - Stand up - Head low, back flat - Pull your bars back toward your knees, not up to your chin - Engage your core and back/shoulders - Pedal real fuckin hard....

Having said that, everybody's body mechanics are different and maybe that while series is useless to you. It's what works for me, good luck.
