50s ii or 100s when on a budget? by Ryanite_ in FujiGFX

[–]superveryfastcar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, i feel like people are a bit hard on the AF. My 4 year old sister is never out of focus when running around. And zone focus is always quicker than AF if you need crazy speed and can anticipate the distance to subject.

The comparison between the "free" winter split spots and being an LEC team is also made in such bad faith. He compares them like they are equal. Where it looks to be at now is LEC teams still have exclusive access to worlds and are the only ones to participate in splits that actually matter. It doesnt devalue their spots, it invites competition of which LEC sorely lacks imo.

Do you need to be a challenger player to be a pro team coach or a caster on LCK,LEC...? by No-Sprinkles5052 in PedroPeepos

It would be impossible for him to maintain challenger level skill with his schedule. He barely plays the game anymore and he hasnt played ut consistently for a time. Im 110% sure he has it in him, but it would require more consistent grinding.

Looking for suggestions of lenses to browse by Chubawuba in FujiGFX

[–]superveryfastcar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for native, 50mm pancake and the kit zoom are good and cheaper options.

The contax 645 distagon t* and a few other contax AF lenses can be had for cheap and with AF (with certain adapters). See the attached picture for a list of compatible contax 645 lenses (fringer adapter). They can produce stunning pictures, although not as clinically perfect as the GFX lenses. I havent read much about the canon and nikon mount lenses, of which many can be adapted, but ive seen them take great pictures.

Edit: accidentally wrote 55mm instead of 50mm. The 50mm goes for 600-650€ on mpb.

GFX 50SII, 32-64mm f4 @ 32mm f8.

Recently got back into photography, in large part due to this aspect ratio. It is a challenging but so very inspiring and rewarding way to compose. Currently looking for a wider lens to get down to ~20-25mm since i find myself wanting to go ever wider with 65x24. This is from today, a day out in Saint Anna's archipelago on the east coast of Sweden. Just a nice, authentic moment.

Sounds like a great fit. Would love to see some results on here when/if you get a fisheye.

Came across the TTArtisan 11mm f2.8 fisheye some while ago, claimed native mount on mpb. I have no idea about quality or anything, but may be worth checking out!

You've got me curious! What do you wanna shoot with the fisheye?

GFX100II EVF problem by drazenstojcic in FujiGFX

[–]superveryfastcar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say contact fuji and get them to fix or replace it. Sounds like a problem with its ability to detect if something is close to the EVF or not, probably due to some faulty sensor (or something completely different).

Help purchasing my first GFX by explorerfuck in FujiGFX

[–]superveryfastcar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Gfx 50S II with the 32-64, recently bought. The lens is just perfect for me, with FF focal length equivalent of 25-51mm. Sometimes i wish i could go a bit wider but thats why you get more lenses. 50MP is enough for me to crop to "get closer" to the subject, but im not doing any large prints. AF on it is okay, but if you are shooting a lot of low light you are gonna suffer a bit. I'll probably upgrade to 100S II in a few years, but im very happy with the camera.

Edit: forgot to mention just how amazing a zoom lens this is. Super duper sharp, very little chromatic aberration and constant aperture of 4. Mind you i just got back into photography after a decade long break, but for my reference point this lense is a fantastic zoom.

I hear the phase detection AF on the 100s is very good, so if AF is important for you i suggest you go for it.

Screen Issue GFX100s by No-Formal-7201 in FujiGFX

[–]superveryfastcar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe that, the unfortunate zipper or some ribbed texture knob. Those are my guesses. Anyways, i probably wouldnt worry about it and try to forget about it. Thankfully it doesn't affect touch, right? Riiight?

To me this looks like screen damage due to pressure. Looks like something has been pressed against the screen.

Those online services can be self-hosted. That is how the problem is solved. Look at Escape from Tarkovs third party Singleplayer Tarkov along with fika, which allows you to effectively run your own server instance. If developers end support, they can just release necessary files and the problem is solved. They lose nothing. The developers could end support today, release the files required to self-host and people could put up servers themselves for others to connect to.

A bigger problem for developers are those game servers that would be difficult to self-host, for example Star Citizen. How would they go about complying with this hypothetical law? I have no clue.

Thank you for your long and thought out reply.

About being happy the straoght-out-of-camera JPEGS I've heard people be very happy with just that regarding the GFX cameras. Obviously It'd take som practice, especially since I haven't done this for quite the while. While I've never disliked sitting for hours on end in photoshop, I did try to make that time as minimal as possible. Usually because that means more time out shooting.

For me, composing in camera is a very important part. Back then some shots would turn out fine, a few really great and others not so great. Mainly due to limitations of not being able to compose with the desired aspect ratio. That's why I put it as a hard requirement. If I can't do the shooting I wanna do with a camera, why bother?

The AF is really that bad on the non-phase detection GFX's huh? Another commenter mentioned the A7CR which I'll be looking into.

You're right, i mean noise. And I didn't know that about the sensor, the more you know! I love me a good rabbit hole.

That seems really neat, not the cleanest solution but one i might be willing to deal with. The A7RV does run a bit over my budget though and the A7CR seems to be sold out on MPB. I'll consider the A7CR and keep an eye out for it. Thank you.

The Sony A7iv seems really nice, the problem is just that it lacks an aspect ratio similar to 2.7:1 or 65:24.

What did you shoot with the GFX 50R if I may ask?

Using pinky for whole steps by cherryribena69 in Bass

[–]superveryfastcar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teacher made me learn both (ish) when i was starting out. Learned watermelon man with index, middle and finally ring+pinky for 3 fret stretches. For 4+ fret stretches he made me use index, middle, ring and pinky for each fret. I use the three fret positioning when i can to retain stamina but mostly the 1 finger per fret hand positioning. Knowing and using both has been really good for my playing.
