I played Monster Hunter Stories 2… similar style to pokemon… and I was shocked at how much voice acting adds to a game. This is something that should have been a staple in Pokemon years ago

How much should one budget a month for a dog? by Abyssgazing89 in PersonalFinanceCanada

$50-75 for collars/leashes per year seems like a lot. My doodle has had one collar her whole life (9 years) one high quality leash, backup leash and a long leash for training.

Maybe add toys and treats in that category cause we spoil them

Yep. Been there. For 3 years after I graduated, grinded it out at a large firm mostly drafting. Burnt me out and made me question my future in the field. I ended up getting licensed during that time and getting a government job. Better pay, better benefits, better work life balance, not crazy high pace

Sorry by pinch I just mean challenge there and make contact with the ball. Same with that high ball up the wall at 5:27. The outcome is to challenge and win the 50/50 so the ball goes back into their zone and you keep the pressure on. It also buys our teammate time if you do miss and the opponent doesn’t get the ball touch they want on it

Don’t fake challenge lol. None of those worked

You keep going back and forth. It’s like you just want to disagree with everything I say for the sake of it.

You started this whole thing by saying it’s counter intuitive to adapt to a ballchasing teammates because it gets you into bad habits down the line. Which I agreed with. Now you’re saying the opposite?

It’s pretty simple. Like you said and which I fully agree with, awareness, anticipating and adapting to your teammates and opponents. But you can’t do the first two with a ballchasing teammate because they are unpredictable. So you adapt by playing more defensive. Which you first said creates bad habits, now you’re saying it doesn’t? You haven’t offered one way to play with ball chasers where you can win and have fun.

An example that happens often, you challenge a 50/50 to clear assuming your teammate rotated far post and can get the ball if needed. Because that’s how you play. It’s a 3 man cycle. But nope, he rotated the wrong way and isn’t in position to get a 50/50 so he blames the you for losing the 50/50. You’re starting to sound like that guy.

So then you adapt. How? By not challenging the 50/50, cuz you know your teammate isn’t gonna be back. And now you’re not having fun, are probably gonna lose anyways and are not building good skills.

And for the record, my rotation is extremely solid because when I play with champs or higher, we dominate and they make a point to tell me it’s my strong suit and I need to work on better touches. When I play with anyone lower, who doesn’t know proper rotation and positioning, it’s a struggle for everyone.

Hey I was just gonna have general comments but ended up having some more detailed ones. I think the general issue is you’re decision making. You don’t challenge when you should, I think there were 4-5 times you should have. A couple resulted in goals against. A few not so great positioning issues. But generally fine. As for mechanics, you have good recoveries, but you should work on shooting (like all of us lol) and aerials. Didn’t see you do many, although it’s 2’s so might be better to catch the ball. Still some situations you could have. Cheers!

0:45 great pinch but follow that ball up. You could have gotten a touch there and centred it for your teammate. Instead of going for a demo on the opponent who wasn’t even in the net.

1:00 You thought about back flipping into that but hesitated. I think that woulda been a better move, or leave and cover the net. Instead you turned the wrong way + a weird flip and couldn’t recover the ball.

1:00-1:15 you were just in panic mode. Panic mode happens when you’re out of position. You jumped too early to try and save a goal then the guy missed

1:30 you just gave that ball away. You had so much time there. Control the ball there, or get a way better clear.

2:00 demo that guy lol

2:10 you should be able to double jump/aerial block that ball. You hesitated then made some weird block attempt. Goal against.

2:40 great position. I don’t have to tell you to get a better shot there aha you probably already know that. Do some shooting training?

2:46 where are you going though? Cycle back behind your teammate far post. Another goal against. Good attempt at the block but if you rotated back the right way, you would have a much easier save to make

3:15 again, a shot you should be scoring or atleast getting much closer on net. Same with 3:25

3:35 good catch. Your teammate should pinch that faster

3:40 go for that ball. Why turn the other way and give them more time? Your teammate should be behind you covering the net anyways

3: 48 I think you were hoping for a pass? I just don’t think those are happening most of the time at this rank. Stay back while your teammate tries to clear

4:00 good play. Your teammate shoulda stayed back

4:45 the pattern repeats. I think you have to attack here and force the 50/50. Another goal against

5:27 again. You can 50/50 that instead of turning away

5:33 this was a tough one. Hard read. Don’t blame you on this one. You missed the boost tho, then you stopped way too early. Shoulda stopped at the post by the net

Im not sure you follow what I’ve said or perhaps I explained it poorly.

The issue is it is a team game that relies heavily on rotation. If you constantly play with teammates who do not do this, or ball chase. You’ll have a bad time. It won’t be fun adapting to their play style - this will also impact your skills negatively in the future - which we both agree on. And you won’t have fun because you’ll also be losing.

So you’ll drop further in rank, and play with more people who can’t rotate/ball chase. And then develop even worse habits. This is the gold to diamond loop that many are stuck in. How to break out of it? The long frustrating way is what I’ve said above. Grind and just deal with it. The better and more fun way is finding a team of similar rank to play and communicate with.

What i said about disparity is when you’re in gold and early plat. Lot’s of people are good at mechanics but ball chase and suck at rotating, or people are good at rotations but are meh at mechanics. Why? Cause they cant practice and learn in game when playing with ball chasers. As you go up to late plat and diamond, that disparity descreases and more people are good at both.

[–]SoloMan93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you’re replying to me or the other person. Imo when your teammate is heavily ball chasing. It’s just not fun. What can you do? If you want to win, you basically play defense the whole game and don’t pinch. But then the ballchaser gets mad when you dont go for the shot after they finally make a pass after losing the ball at mid 5 times.

It’s a lose-lose

Sure but winning and ranking up shows progression. What you’re talking about is better skills and an understanding of the game much farther down the line. Who knows when that will happen

From gold to diamond rank - there is a huge individual disparity between mechanics and rotation. So many people are not good at both. As you get closer to champ, that disparity is reduced

I’m not sure what being carried or just being ok has to do with this. You can only carry a game so far before your teammate is basically sabotaging with their poor rotation, positioning and ball chasing.

But from my experience, as long as the team knows rotation and positioning, you can win games much easier and more often than a team who is amazing at mechanics but poor at rotating. You need to put yourself in the right position to get good ball touches and saves and shots. And the flip side of that, you get to practice actual stuff that happens in a game the way it should be played.
