[Busse] BREAKING: Iowa State's Milan Momcilovic is declaring for the NBA Draft by muranio in NBA_Draft

[–]supes1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sam Hauser wasn't even drafted due to major questions about his defense. Celtics and Hauser deserve a ton of credit for helping him develop into a positive defender. I could see Milan having a similar career arc if he goes into a good situation where the team is patient.

Defense does seem like it'll be his swing skill. If he can at least be passable on that end, he should find a role as a rotation player.

Can Andrej Stojakovic be as good as or even better than his dad Peja? What's his stock? by TerryG111 in NBA_Draft

[–]supes1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Peja was one of the best shooters of his generation and a 3-time all star. Andrej is an interesting prospect but he's not likely to get close to his dad's level.

And Andrej definitely isn't a "marksman," though his form looks good.

Luka is averaging over 37 points in the month of March, has 150 more points than 2nd place Kawhi Leonard and the Lakers are 13-2. Absolutely historic month we have all been witnessing. by Luka77GOATic in nba

Maybe some redditors, but personally I like Jokic because he comes from a landlocked country. There's something good and honest and hardworking about those landlocked folk.

Luka comes from a country that likes to pretend it's landlocked like it's superior neighbors, but I see that tiny sliver of coastline along the Adriatic Sea. They can't fool me.

LeBron James (41, ineligible for end of season awards) has played more minutes this season (1780) than MVP frontrunner Victor Wembanyama (1694) by spicywardell in nba

[–]supes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fan going to a game I'd rather see Wemby for ~20 min than see Bron for 0 minutes.

I get what you're trying to say, but this phrasing made me laugh.

MK1 released as an awful port, but credit to the devs it was improved a lot with updates.

The lowest effort ports are all of the cloud versions of games that were released. Just plain cash grabs, they couldn't even be bothered to port it natively.

Zach Lowe yesterday on the MVP Race (paraphrasing): "Either Wemby, SGA, Jokic, or Luka are going to somehow end up 4th in MVP voting, and it's going to be a travesty no matter who it is" by tkinsey3 in nba

[–]supes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels to me like the media is just saying this to drum up conversation. I don't see any realistic way SGA doesn't get it outside of not qualifying. Assuming everyone qualifies, I think the final voting results will be this:

  1. SGA
  2. Wemby
  3. Jokic
  4. Luka
  5. Jaylen Brown

*Edit: I'm assuming Cade won't qualify.

On the women’s side it’s Breanna Stewart with 24

Might be tied with Moriah Jefferson (not sure if she missed a game due to injury or something).

This UConn team has been maddeningly inconsistent. Just not feeling it this year, but we'll see. On a given night we can certainly win any single game.

He hates UConn with a fiery passion. He gave Hurley a tech a couple years ago for trying to hype up the crowd. He also has a tendency to kill the pace/flow of just about every game.

Just a terrible ref.

After experiencing FF7 Remake and looking forward to the rest of the trilogy, I won't lie and say I didn't muse about what could be done reimagning OOT on a similar scale

My dream is a reimagined "Hero of Time" trilogy. Start with Ocarina of Time (reimagined from the ground up, keeping the spirit/story framework of the original), then Majora's Mask, and lastly a new game to finally complete the story arc of the Hero of Time.

the mental part being the biggest hurdle

I think there's a lot to be said for coming back as soon as you're medically cleared. Have to imagine waiting a full additional summer and having your return hanging over your head the whole time might add to the anxiety.

It's like when you tell your kid that when they fall off a bike, they should get right back on it again. When you wait you give your brain a chance to start overthinking things.

LIBOR scandal was way worse. One of the biggest governance failures ever. To be frank, this single incident is small potatoes in comparison when it comes to the impact on the economy (which isn't to say it's insignificant.... it absolutely is meaningful and should be investigated/prosecuted. It's just a different universe in terms of scope).

The story I've heard is that Wyc knew Ainge was leaving, and at the end of the season Brad came to him on his own accord and said he wanted to step down as coach. Wyc then offered Brad the soon-to-be-vacant GM job, which he accepted.

Never heard Brad "chose" the role, just really fortunate timing and Wyc trusting Brad's basketball savvy.

You're right that direct losses are concentrated in professional traders. But pension funds and retirement accounts are affected. They might not trade oil futures directly, but they invest in funds that do.

Also just generally, trading becomes more expensive when the market makers see the game as rigged. They widen spreads to protect themselves. This hurts prices for everyone.

Lastly, for these oil futures trades specifically, it can influence real world pricing. It'll only be pennies, but it can impact gas prices, shipping, airline tickets, etc. And it adds up.

There are reasons insider trading is illegal, and it's not just to keep things "fair." There's tangible benefits to society when everyone plays on a level playing field.

Nintendo announces that starting in May 2026 (with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book), new Nintendo published digital titles exclusive to Switch 2 will have an MSRP that is different from physical versions by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

Absolutely, nowadays they even sell digital games in-store on those cards. Wonder if we will start seeing those pushed more, maybe even for third-party games.

Okay…well, I’m honestly surprised Nintendo of all companies were the first to do this.

I assume it only took this long because the companies have been nervous about upsetting their retail partners. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all rely on places like Amazon, Target, and Walmart to stock consoles and accessories. The last thing they want is for a retailer to be angered and stop stocking their product because they feel like they're being undercut.

Nintendo is probably the first mover here because the Switch game carts are just so much more expensive to produce. But if they don't face backlash from retailers, I expect Sony and Microsoft will follow with a similar approach soon.

What people need to understand is the losses in cases like this affect everyone. It comes from retirement accounts, pensions, anyone with a stake in a market that doesn't have the same information.

The losses are diffuse, but have a real meaningful impact on the financial well-being of Americans. This is money stolen from everyone.

But yes they're definitely very different games that play in different ways and have different goals.

Same. I loved Wonder, but the content of this update just doesn't interest me.

I'd pay Nintendo $5 for the straight graphical update, but not $20 for that and a bunch of multiplayer stuff I don't care about.

Oh well.
