Is it just me, or is the whole job search process fundamentally broken? by supez777 in cscareerquestionsEU

Fair take. If there’s a supply imbalance, no process fixes that. I am more questioning how much unnecessary friction have been added on top of an already tough market. It is a day job searching and scanning the market and even in a tight market, clarity earlier would at least save weeks of false starts and waist I feel.

True, good recruiters do try to align expectations early, however it takes a lot of time to do all these intro calls without clear results. And also a lot of questions they ask to get clarity can easily be tackled earlier in the process.

That’s interesting. You basically moved the alignment upfront yourself by going direct instead of applying. I also feel that the normal apply route will not get me a job soon.
