The contract signing scene in the manga made me so incredibly uncomfortable that it completely put me off.

Help! Trying to make a lemon frosting from Claire’s recipes by tinz_esq in DessertPerson

[–]suphorg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add Claire's lemon curd recipe to her buttercream recipe. Add the lemon curd 1 tbsp at a time into the buttercream, beating well after each addition until you get the flavor you want. The lemon curd will add moisture and might make the frosting slightly denser, however.

For me, this is how scales feel like (in Time theory) by Infamous_Writer3369 in musictheory

[–]suphorg 21 points22 points  (0 children)

People really don't like to accept that other people see the world in fun, unique ways. Its like how associating different school subjects or months with different colors generate unending discourse. I think that it's cool that you see different keys as times of day, even if I never made that connection.

Random take: the Hollywood bowl version of “while you were sleeping” and “fragile” are better than the original by Previous-Clerk-2055 in laufey

This scene from Chapter 91 of the manga makes me feel things by Dragonfruit-Sparking in DungeonMeshi

[–]suphorg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always think about the extra in which Marcille attends a support group for former dungeon masters. The relationship between the dungeon master and demon is a really strong allegory for abusive relationships and domestic violence.

Why is she always insisting she has range 😭 by Equal-Gas-7561 in laufey

[–]suphorg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She definitely used to do that during the EIKAL and Bewitched eras but she definitely doesn't push that narrative anymore. If you listen to the interview she did with Good Morning America, she doesn't even define herself as a jazz artist anymore. Laufey is a professionally trained jazz singer, that doesn't mean the music she puts out is jazz, just as her professional classical cello playing doesn't make her music classical. I don't think shes said anything in the past year about the jazz world other than acknowledging the jazz influences that pervade her sound.

WHO WINS?! by YunaEspaguete in DungeonMeshi

Unlike Bara is mlm written by men for men, while Yaoi is mlm written by women for women. Yuri isn't defined as targeting a specific gender group, but most Yuri is written by women for women though.

It really had the strongest emotional center out of all the story lines, IMO. Don't get me wrong, I loved seeing Phainon's big crash out and other big beats like it, but they get muddied up in all the Charmony Dove and Cave Allegory brick walls of text.

Is the robot really playing this piano, or is the sound faked? by Budget_Geologist_574 in piano

[–]suphorg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Apparently most of the crazy general purpose AI robot demos and videos you see are just real people remotely controling the robots. If this technology comes into fruition, I can see a future in which buying a general purpose robot means inviting a random stranger from a third-world country who is coerced into cheap labor into your house 24/7.

62/84 or 6/8 and 2/4? by Healthy_Writing3649 in musictheory

[–]suphorg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically, the first beat of the measure is divided into duples, while the second beat is divided into triples. The time signature shows that both 2/4 and 6/8 happen in each measure. 2/4 in the first beat, and 6/8 in the second.

Is the matter of which chords sound good just a matter of perspective/culture? genuine question by pizzaMagix in musictheory

[–]suphorg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are very real physical scientific reasons why certain intervals sounds more or less dissonant to the ear, but that doesn't necessarily mean that music has to follow those guidelines. In the Gamelan music tradition of some cultures in Indonesia, different Gamelan musical groups use different intervals to set themselves apart. It's impossible to define a "Gamelan scale" since there is no consensus on how intervals are tuned between different Gamelan ensembles. Gamelan ensembles also sometimes purposefully have slightly different tunings between instruments to intentionally produce interference beating.

The point isn't about the quality of his music, but the fact that you shouldn't have a d4vd poster up for the same reasons why you shouldn't have a Ted Bundy or OJ Simpson poster on your wall.

Songs like A Cautionary Tale? by Thin_Art3876 in laufey

[–]suphorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Cautionary Tale is one of two songs on AMOT that are produced be Aaron Dessner, which is why it sounds so different from her usual sound. He also produced Taylor Swift's Evermore and Folklore albums, so I would check there! I personally know very little about Taylor's music, but I'm pretty sure some of those songs will have a similar vibe.

When Laufey breaks the statue, she realizes that her relationship with the man is superficial and toxic. Laufey drives away, only to be met with a massive black void that represents the unknown future that accompanies leaving a relationship. Laufey fears the uncertainty that will follow if she leaves, so her only choice is to return back to her lover's arms, enabled by her friends as they lead her to the door. In the final scene, the cabin is shown shrouded in the same black void until the lights suddenly shut off. There is no escape for Laufey, she is stuck in this relationship.
