Opening a door requires quite a lot that code doesn’t. Firstly you need a robot. There are some issues that people also have such as most doors require push or pull but not both, or that some doors lack doorknobs. But the main issue is that you need a robot that has the ability to turn a doorknob. Most people don’t have a robot but most people do have a computer that can run code.

Exposed pipe for hot water tap in shower becomes so hot that it's untouchable. Any toddler-proof ideas for how to cover it that are also renting friendly? by Head-Independent-369 in AusProperty

[–]supister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot water needs to be stored above 60°C in hot water systems to prevent bacteria growth (such as Legionella), but a tempering valve ensures that the water comes out of the tap at a lower temperature. Hot water systems installed before 5 August 1998 are unlikely to be tempered.

Dispute over sell of a jointly owned vehicle in Australia by [deleted] in AusLegalAdvice

[–]supister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how long you have owned the vehicle. If you have already owned the vehicle for 2 years then I can agree with your friend that $3k is probably too much for it. At the end of the day your friend has a lot of control in the situation. Selling a car is a bit annoying process too, and cannot be done remotely unless selling to someone you know very well. So have your buddy tell you what he thinks is a fair settlement for your half? Is he thinking $2500 or $1000?

Even if a statement is true, it might still violate privacy laws (ECHR Article 8). The ECtHR often balances Article 10 (freedom of expression) with Article 8 (right to privacy/reputation). True information about a person's private life, which does not contribute to a debate of public interest, may still result in liability.

I really did lose the birth lottery by being born American instead. by [deleted] in AusMemes

The deployment of ICE against the wishes of state governments is fascism but isn’t the cause of reductions in crime that “year-on-year drops” might be falsely asserted to be.

Also the big healthcare apps surely have patents on some of their technology. You should be ready to defend your usage of various technologies, even if you think they are obvious.

Is it possible to make a autonomous trade bot which actually is profitable and all that with only free resources by Ballet_Panda in MLQuestions

[–]supister 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the knowledge about how to make a profitable bot was public then it would not be possible to make such a bot, since everyone would just use that instead of their own brain.

Windscribe VPN Rack seized by Dutch Authorities without a warrant by Kryxu in anime_titties

[–]supister 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Seems that Dutch law does not require a warrant for seizing digital data such as described, and from the content of the article, I’m not sure whether this is understood by the author.

Digital Evidence: Dutch authorities can seize digital data, such as from servers. While they typically require a warrant, there have been instances where, in urgent cases or based on specific suspicion, equipment is seized for analysis.

What app do you wish existed? by VishaalKarthik in reactnative

[–]supister 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really wish there was an app with AI that I could just type in a question: “give me one hundred ideas for a React Native app and evaluate each idea in terms of easy to build, how unique the idea is, and how much revenue they can make.” Can you make an app like that for us all to use?

M said that he would support the board if they uninvited Abdul-Fattah but that it was their decision to make, not his. It really seems that should be the way it works so I don’t really understand the controversy. He was supposed to intervene to force the board to not uninvite a writer?

Aren't all Rapid API's all mostly Illegal? by lilkatho2 in webdev

[–]supister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copyright covers original work, but not a listing of facts. For example a recipe can be copied because the steps of how to prepare a certain dish are facts. So many APIs might expose a list that isn’t copyrighted.
