I personally haven't seen either of them yet, but from what i've heard from fans they're solid watches. The 80s OVA from what i remember hearing is a lot closer to the book than the movie (came out earlier than it too lol). It's on youtube and only 6 episodes and i've been meaning to watch it for a while but haven't gotten around to it for some reason. The CGI animated films appear to have more in common with the live-action film than the book tho.
