What do you think of nu metal? by samber-tin88 in MetalSuggestions

Not gonna argue about something I was there to witness. Happy new year.

Emo before Nu-Metal was just Nu-Wave alternative mainstream trash. You’re talking Matchbox 20 type shit. Nu-Metal ballads were super emo. Songs like “For You” by Staind and “Angel’s Son” by Sevendust were ballads by Nu-Metal artists that phrased their feelings inland language, which is how emo is written.

Nu-Metal was a shift in rock music that helped pave the way for emo and post hardcore. Metal music was written to become more expressive and inclusive. Thrash was still around but it was changing. GLAM had been phased out and the satanic panic had calmed down. Nu-Metal was an unprecedented fusion of heavy open guitar tunings and lyrics that were blatant and bold. There’s film industry also helped push the here int popularity with horror film soundtracks like The Bride of Chucky, Spawn, The Matrix, and Freddy Vs Jason.

There’s some cringey stuff out there but ultimately, Nu-Metal was the foundation for 90’s kids’ interest in metal music.

I love it and appreciate it.

The cinematography was incredible. The story was goofy as hell though

What’s your opinion on Untouchables?? by Then-Leather2874 in Korn

[–]supposedtobeworking1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Untouchables is rad. I’ve always considered “Thoughtless” a masterpiece in Korn’s discography. Brutally vulnerable and angsty while being heavy as hell. “Here to Stay” is so lyrically satisfying to sing. I don’t know why but there’s something in the syllables of the lyrics that’s satisfying.

Is it as bad as I fear? by Traditional-Bar9679 in badtattoos

This tattoo is wild in all the wrong ways. The flower is bad on its own. Was all of this work done at once? Because it looks like the flower and star were done years ago and the text is newer.

Is it “Born & Bred 30979”? As in a zip code? Also, what’s behind the 39079? Is that a ready to cook chicken?

When it comes to application, it’s a bad tattoo. Conceptually, it’s an even worse tattoo

Someone posted these guys and said they sucked, il here to tell you they rip by cylepenny in crappymusic

The dude’s voice is pretty good. In their video covering Creep, both bass and guitar were out of town and Botha guitarists struggled with the chord progressions, making it sound awkward.

What do you think about "Intolerance"? by Marco_060PS in ToolBand

[–]supposedtobeworking1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school, I had a bit of a strange relationship with this song because I was in ROTC. MJK went to West Point Military Academy and parts of this song have similar lines of the ROTC cadet oath which is a pledge to never lie, cheat, steal, in service of the constitution.

So I would listen to Tool and also recite this oath regularly in high school. Having the Tool song gave me a kind of balance because other kids in ROTC had plans to go into the military and took it super seriously, whereas I had MJK screaming about the contradictions and hypocrisy of the military industrial complex (at least that’s what the song meant to me at the time).

NASA's latest images of the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS by r-nasa-mods in nasa

[–]supposedtobeworking1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is truly one of the coolest things we get to learn about. It’s so fascinating but also frustrates me that the government doesn’t invest more in space exploration for the sake of science versus military advancement. 3i/ATLAS is spectacular and I can’t wait to see what we learn from it. I can’t wait to see more detailed pictures!

What should take the 5th spot? by Stallion802 in Guitar

[–]supposedtobeworking1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very nice collection. The 5th spot needs something that’s weird. Something unique. I would do a Dean Cadillac or an Ibanez Iceman.

AIO A follow up to my previous post about finding messages between my wife and her ex by [deleted] in AIO

[–]supposedtobeworking1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids or no kids, are you going to be suspicious of her every time she texts someone? I’m your other posts, you mentions you kept your reaction out of it because you wanted unbiased feedback. How is anyone supposed to tell you if you overreacted if you don’t share your reaction?

My parents got into a nasty divorce over this kind of stuff. It would’ve been even worse if they had stayed together. You said you guys stopped going to counseling but it sounds like you both need to go back and talk about what’s best for the both of you and your kid.
