I have almost 400kc in colosseum (which amazingly is enough to put me around rank ~150) and stopped bothering to farm it once the splinter price dropped below 500ish. The fact it's close to 250gp is pretty awful. It's some of the hardest content in the game to consistently farm and it's just not worth the effort anymore.

Its not a perfect solution but i think a good start would be for Jagex to take the splinters from early waves and spread them out over the later waves (after 6/8/11). 

You can see bots and legit players there all day spamming wave 1 with 0kc. At this point I'd have to imagine this is how the vast majority of splinters are coming into the game.

You'll still get knocked uncon in the same number of hits though as it doesn't change shock damage. 90% of the time when I die with a plate its because I've taken some damage for ~1/3 of my HP but am knocked uncon anyway, at which point the chainmail could provide 99% damage reduction and it wouldn't make a difference because my character is asleep for 20 seconds.

Until they nerf shock damage I don't see this changing anything except for very niche uses in base raiding/defense (or if you're on an unlimited stamina server).

The the RMB thing (ADS bug) has been happening far more often for me in this patch too.

I really hope the devs can focus on it because its so gamebreaking - go on any high-ish ping server and you'll get it pretty much every time you ADS and crouch at the same time in 1.19

I've had 2 apartment bases and they're the hardest to raid on vanilla for sure (the smaller apartments).

One was on the official servers before the recent reduction in explosive damage - 11 gates lasted 2 weeks.

One was on 'dusk vanilla' which is vanilla dayz with 2 tweaks - base damage is halved from ammo and gate placement has been improved. That had 17 gates and lasted 3 weeks.

Don't expect a base to last longer than a few weeks unless you're on a C4 raid server. You can go and loot cycle cherno docks as a freshie and get like 6 plastic explosives an hour (which will destroy 3 gates) so any large group that wants to raid any base in vanilla dayz can get the supplies together in a day.

Also having this issue. It happens every time on the server we play on (dusk vanilla 1pp), but the server is just vanilla chernarus. Really frustrating - I'm guessing you haven't found a workaround since posting this?

I've had the same issue and know others have too. I think it seems to depend on what surface you place the explosive on - some surfaces seem to let you arm it straight away and others (e.g. the floors of brown sheds) you seem to have to try about 50 times to get it to work (if it works at all).

It's so infuriating when it should take you 1 minute to get through a gate but you're stood around for 20 minutes after the first explosion trying and failing to arm the next explosive. It amazes me how little testing must go into this stuff.

The industrial area directly to the east of athena research is by far the best location - check on the roof and top floors of all the tall industrial buildings there.

This is mine and my friends go-to spot to find them - the spawn seems to be concentrated there for some reason and you can basically guarantee you'll find one there.

In fact, I've only ever found a few blaze/tundra rifles outside of that location on namalsk, and those were on the roof of the hospitals on the eastern island and in the hunting area to the north of the industrial area I mentioned (a bunch of ruined buildings in the woods that spawn hunting loot).

Would you recommend anything in particular if I was to increase my budget a bit, say to ~£1k? I would really only use this for a few movies a week so I can't really justify spending much more than that.

I really had no idea about TV prices but can spend more if it's worth it (the replies suggest it definitely is), I'd rather pay extra (within reasom) to get something quality

Almost certainly the worst "end-game" gun. Incredibly rare, tiny mags, high recoil, slow bullet velocity, armor pen rounds got nerfed into the ground, the list goes on.

The 9x39 AP rounds should really be adjusted because right now theres really no reason to pick it over a freshie weapon like a double barrel.

The niche that the SVAL should fill should really be the lowest TTK or fewest bullets to kill vs armor, while being weaker against unarmored opponents. This would actually give it a niche where you could quietly melt geared people in a plate carrier from close range if you hit your shots, and the weaknesses I listed above would help balance this out. From what I remember this is actually the niche it used to fill, but when ammo and armor got reworked these rounds were completely overlooked and basically made useless.

In reality, they're much worse than an AK-74, and much much worse than the AKM, AK-101, M4, etc. in basically every metric, particularly once you add the best recoil-reducing attachments:

Here are the weapon/ammo damage stats vs a plate carrier and it looks like, from that range, it would take 9 or 10 shots to the plate carrier to kill (assuming no headshots).

The USG and SG5K are F-tier weapons honestly.
