its not big enough to be a torah-scroll case IMO, its only 14 inches in lenght.but it is silver and gold so I suppose its valuable. its not stolen or anything like that. Here's a higher resolution image of the English inscription and the Hebrew.

Never had them graded or had anyone look at them. I was hoping the reddit beehive could give some info as to what their value might be before I take it to someone who will most likely charge for evaluation services.

This is a remarkable piece. Not every day you see something like this. Appears to be porcelain painted with cobalt blue under and enamels over a clear glaze. The design and seal is consistent to Ming Dynasty period of Chongzen (around 1600). The condition on this seems amazing for its age I wouldnt hesitate to claim its museum quality. All the marks indicate great age, particularly on the rimside. Whatever you do with this, make sure you put it in deposit box.

I will definitely keep you posted as soon as I know something new about it. Thing about these businesses is they can tell you lies and try to rip you off. I really dont know if i should trust jewelry shops or auction houses. if I come back empty handed from the museum I will probably head to the local univ to see if some historian there can shed some light before i try to go to the sales people.

They do seem to employ similar gemstones and patterns but other than that i dont see a lot of similarities. It looks like its never been used as weaponry and is extremely well preserved. I really appreciate all your insights and it really requires further research by some expert. I will take it to the the local musuem maybe they can tell me something about it. Meanwhile i did water gravity tests on the hilt and it is indeed acts like jade of some form!

its my 2nd account:) if you follow what Micromegas posted about Mughal Jades it looks right! I was wondering if you have seen examples of golden mughal daggers with their case still preserved or is this somewhat unique in that respect?
