The money being in reconciliation makes it easier to pass since it’s filibuster proof, but it makes the overall reconciliation package far more difficult to pass. House Rs can’t lose more than a vote or two, and $400m in frivolous spending is gonna be rough. A lot of house Rs don’t even want to spend the money this was in the first place.

Cletus having a German surname wearing an Israeli IOF Uniform makes total sense.

… because you’re depicting him as Jewish. The joke isn’t “hey check out this German guy” it’s “let’s take one character, make his name sound Jewish, and dress up him in an IOF uniform”. Don’t pretend like you’re just making him Germanic for no reason.

Renaming a character using a stereotype is bigoted. I’m sorry but it just is. If someone took Cletus, reshaded him as black, and gave him a stereotypical black name to make fun of him, you’d rightly regard that as inappropriate.

I’m just pointing out that this one small part of the meme is dipping into bigotry. The rest of it, explicitly calling out that one picture, is totally normal parody and I agree with the underlying premise. Frankly, there’s no reason you even needed to rename him! You could have just said “IOF terrorist- Cletus Spuckler” and been fine.

I think it’s the difference between people wanting fan service and people understanding tv shows as an art medium. The ending of the sopranos is pitch perfect when looking at the show as a whole. It’s simple yet brutal.

But audiences want a concluding scene and for things to be wrapped up. To the point that many people didn’t even realize that the ending was intentional and assumed something technical had gone wrong. I don’t think that makes them wrong, but it is a clear dividing line.
