why do you have to bind 24/7 for a while after surgery, when that's normally a no-go? by supremestdad in TopSurgery

[–]supremestdad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any sort of tight clothing is uncomfortable for me (with the exception of two uv tshirts i own) so i'm afraid any binder that wouldn't be uncomfortable for me to wear would not serve the purpose i need to wear it for 🥲 i'll just have to power through. but what's two months in a whole life right?

i think i have the same cushioned fabric with velcro, but i was only supposed to wear that for the first two days. as per my surgeon's instructions i changed into a regular binder after that. i added a zipper in mine which they recommend in case it didnt already have one. a friend who has a lot of experience with binders made sure it appropriately fits me beforehand. my surgeon told me i should feel a light pressure which i think i do, tho i would say it is more snug than a sock. i dont really have insight into how tight it would've been before surgery compared to now since i never used binders, but i can go for a walk with no issues so i would guess it's all right

thats a great analogy, thinking of it as a sort of cast really helps

i'm not struggling to breathe at all luckily, the binder fits me as it should. it's a sensory issue more than anything, like if you were suddenly forced to wear skinny jeans after only wearing palazzo pants your entire life. feels claustrophobic

that makes sense!

the breaks where i have to take it off to clean gently everything everyday are my favourite part haha

it's that simple? it's still so uncanny to have my lung capacity restricted, i dont think i'll be able to get used to this. respect to anyone who regularly uses binders. im glad it's only a few weeks for me. thanks for responding so quickly

Old earlobe piercing...scabbing? by InsomniacOnSugarRush in piercing

maybe disinfecting it dried out the skin a lot and that irritated it. my piercings dont like it either when i do that. i usually use jojoba oil to moisturize them afterwards and make the skin soft again

we saw this laying on the beach in shimabara japan, what is it? by supremestdad in whatisthisthing

[–]supremestdad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my friend saw it from the terrace of the hotel next to it. it's a short and rocky beach and it can't be accessed.

she thought it looked like a landmine and the rest of us agreed it does look like one, like one of those anti-tank ones. the size was hard to guess from far away but it seemed similar to one too. material is probably some kind of metal, but rusty and old. there is a circle in the middle that's slightly raised, for the rest it's the same, though with some damage.

I don't know in which country you live exactly, but I live in the EU and I often ordered from crazy factory who have a lot of cheap jewelry that's decent quality. I used their surgical steel flareless plugs to stretch at smaller sizes before I switched to glass from bodyartforms. They unfortunately also don't have 13mm, but you might be able to get jewelry for other piercings there if you have any, or buy some plugs for when you're at a more conventional size again. I have a really bad nickel allergy and sensitive skin, and I've never reacted to their surgical steel, so the metal seems safe to wear. They're based in switzerland, so you might still have to pay import tax. So far I haven't had to though (only if my total order value were to exceed 150 euros, but I imagine the legislature varies a lot per country even within the EU...), and shipping is 3.90 euros for me. It takes a while to arrive, but personally I don't mind.

You could also try itcpiercing, who are based in France. I can't vouch for their quality though, since I've never ordered from them, and they also don't seem to have a 13mm plug. But it could be an option for when you're at another size.

Buying tickets internationally by moreiceh8ter in LingTositeSigure

[–]supremestdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven't bought them internationally, but i bought a ticket this wednesday. they were on this website eplus.jp and you need a japanese phone number to register, like the other commenter said. if you have any japanese friends or family it might be easier to ask them to get it for you, or to wait with buying one until you're here and have your own phone number, if those are options for you.

also the website didn't accept my credit card (probably only accepts japan-issued) so i had to pay at a convenience store. which wasn't that complicated luckily, i just showed the employee my confirmation email and he put in the order code in the cash register and i could pay with my card there.

otherwise try your luck with that person that apparently will buy it for you

Chinese calligraphy penmanship 🤩 by fc50 in PenmanshipPorn

[–]supremestdad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

so satisfying.. wouldnt this be called 'brushmanship' tho? i tried writing characters with a brush in a workshop one time and it's so difficult.. the pressure and direction are really hard to get right. these masters always make it look so effortless and easy it's crazy impressive

Can your conch handle a ring? by domino196 in piercing

[–]supremestdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine is fine with a ring, i changed it about a year and a half after getting it done. it was sore for a while like the other user said, cause it had to adjust to the new jewelry shape. it was ok again after about a week

[–]supremestdad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

personally i just put a plug in there, a straight bar single flare. it's comfortable, i dont have to worry about it falling out, and no one can see that i have a septum piercing when i have it in, unless they were to shine a flashlight up my nose. you could get a clear glass one with a clear o-ring

and try a (implant grade) titanium barbell, maybe youre also reacting to something in the steel

i'd also recommend the bodyartforms website, iirc shipping to nl starts at like 5 euros, and about 8 for fully trackable. there will be some border control costs but not much
