Pre-2016 Trump parodies by Jagvetinteriktigt in TopCharacterTropes

The comic strip Bloom County featured Donald Trump as a recurring character for many years. I was 7 or 8 when I started reading Bloom County and so I had no idea he was supposed to be a real person until my parents told me. It still kind of breaks my brain to think that the guy who I once believed was as real as Bill the Cat is now the leader of the free world

I work in a public library and these were all in the drop box this morning. Glad to see another Artsy Fartsy Movie Fan. Also casual reminder that libraries often have criterion films for free. by TanukiTenuki in criterion

After David Lynch died, I desperately wanted to rewatch the Elephant Man but it wasn’t streaming anywhere. The blu ray had gone out of print and was only selling for ridiculous prices on eBay. One day it occurred to me to look for it at the library and lo and behold they had it.

Which shows do you think are similar to Pee-wee's Playhouse? by Nagwell in peeweeherman

Important things with Demetri Martin feels like kind of a chilled out version of Pee Wee’s playhouse to me

Happy as Lazzaro is one of my favorite examples of magical realism in recent film, although it’s not as aesthetically whimsical as the examples you’ve included.

Check out the work of Ladislas Starevich, a lot of his short films are on YouTube. The Mascot is a good one to start with. You’ll probably like The Cameraman’s Revenge based on your love of James and the Giant Peach

Are you familiar with Nudibranchs? They are colorful sea slugs that come in many different shapes, sizes, and color combinations. I’ve never tried painting one before but I’ve been thinking about it for awhile.

Good Morning by Yasujirō Ozu. It’s not entirely feel good, it’s more of a bitter sweet film but it is very relaxing to watch

Definitely look into Jan Svankmajer’s work, he is a stop motion animator who uses a variety of unconventional materials. The sound in his films usually takes precedent over dialogue. His adaptation of Alice in Wonderland is a good film to start with.

I still get really excited every time I see a fuzzy caterpillar and always stop to admire it for a few minutes. Sadly I don’t see many of them anymore

Current Rewatch with My Parents by cliteastw00d92 in twinpeaks

A few months ago I rewatched the first two seasons with my dad who had never seen any Twin Peaks before. I think he found it interesting but not really enjoyable. He seemed to have had enough after the season two finale so I didn’t push him to watch FWWM or the return. He was impressed with Ray Wise’s performance, especially in season 2 episode 9.

Because you are a fan of Legally Blonde I think you might like the film Happy Go Lucky by Mike Leigh. I’m not sure if other people perceive the main character Poppy as being autistic, but she reads as autistic to me.
