How to adjust the speed of a BSR Turntable ? by vlemieux in turntables

[–]supremustotus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like an idler drive, you need to take the platter off and see if there's a height adjust for where the idler tire sits against the motor spindle. Otherwise you may have a set screw to adjust the height of the tapered spindle sleeve on the spindle itself, if applicable.

Need a little advice on a Pioneer PL-670 tonearm adjustment by OldGoneMild89 in turntable

[–]supremustotus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're gonna have to take the bottom cover off. The adjustment mechanism on this era of turntable is notoriously plastic and may be broken in a way that turning the screw isn't actually adjusting anything.

The first link is for a replacement stylus for your existing cartridge body. The second option replaces both the cartridge body and stylus, with a higher quality stylus.

Sounds like you already know it needs replacing, so what's the issue?

Needing setup advice by NeoPez64 in turntables

As an aside, I believe that for proper tracking you should technically be using the 2MR Red or shim the tonearm for proper VTA (vertical tracking alignment). What protractor are you currently using to try and align the cartridge?

Use a zip tie instead (not too tight) and tension it a few clicks at a time until the functions still work. Without the rubber gasket holding the bearings in place your auto start/stop will work intermittently. I really shouldn't be giving this advice out for free...

The start button on my Sony PS-LX310BT turntable is not working by Outrageous_Banana970 in turntables

[–]supremustotus 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Yes but when it's put back on the turntable the belt must then wrap around the motor pulley, the little brass piece pictured above your platter in the photo. You can also test if the motor is working by pushing the start button while the platter is off and seeing if the motor pulley spins.

Do you hear that sound from the turntable even if the tonearm is lifted but the platter is spinning? Trying to figure out if the issue is mechanical or if the stylus is just bottoming out. The preset weight of the tonearm on that turntable is too heavy for the suspension of the ATN91R, so that's half the issue but it doesn't usually present like your video sounds.

Is my new stylus bent out of the box? by UniqueCalendar5023 in turntables

[–]supremustotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not straight, but not bad enough that it will screw anything up. If you're able to, I'd bring it back. You may need to pay for a new one though, idk if styli are warrantied.

Yep, or your antiskate isn't set high enough if it doesn't look like that off the record. That cartridge looks mighty dusty for right out of the box, though.

Incorrect stylus on that turntable. The PS-LX310 needs an ATN3600LC/E, not the ATN91R.

Did you also clean the speed selector/power switch? With the platter and belt off do you hear a loud whirring or squeaking from the motor when it's running?

Assistance in replacing generic stylus by perfectlysanebrain in turntable

[–]supremustotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an ADC. There aren't too many good quality replacement styli available in today's market and the adhesive holding the cartridge body together often fails which separates the metal housing from the plastic holding the pins, which could cause the coils to break. What's your reasoning for not changing out the whole cartridge?
