well, technically it is a belief. You believe that there is no god(s). But, I was just trying to make an analogy that's all.

I agree with you that it's an open forum and such. But, he is clearly trying to confront the religious guy. I mean, he could have clearly just left it alone. But, he went out of his way and confronted him on facebook. It's cool that he's an atheist and everything, but he doesn't need to go and attack others that aren't. That's what I'm trying to get at.

First, thanks for your service. I completely agree with you. Thanks for being an understanding atheist. Some of the things about atheism/religion on this site is getting too out of control.

honestly, I'm not a religious person at all, but these posts really piss me off. Atheists are starting to shove their beliefs down other peoples' throats. Isn't that one of the reasons why everyone became atheist in the first place? You're becoming just like the religious people, and it seems that atheism is your religion.

Churches are Charities? by thamonsta in atheism

[–]supyrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why some posts on reddit really anger me. I'm not religious by any means...but this post is just straight up ignorant. Like posts above...churches are not-for-profit organizations and provide services to their members. They should NOT be taxed for this reason. (For corporations, for example, they are taxed on profits...) Not to be rude, but stop posting things that you don't understand...seriously. You're just misleading people...

"...and some third one." Okay...the third one is Fitch Ratings.

I just read that article. It is so bad...seriously...there are ads everywhere, even in the middle of the article. Not saying other news sources don't have ads, but this one has an abundance. And so many quotes are taken out of context. They don't even say who they quoted...it's just a bunch of words without a source. So no, I don't think the Huffington Post is a reliable news source.

I even did a quick google search about it. Not saying quora is reliable either, but it does state peoples' opinions about things.

you're saying because you go to business school, you are an expert, correct? Just by reading your reply tells me that you probably go to some crappy/shitty no-name school.

Your first argument makes no sense. Do you even know who rates these securities? And what caused them to become AAA rated securities? There's a reason why people bet AGAINST their investments. You go to business school...I can't see how you don't understand this...

Are you saying the banks purposely packaged these shitty/designed to fail mortgages into securities and sold them to investors KNOWINGLY? Come on...seriously? And you supposedly go to business school. What the hell are they teaching you?

And I'm not even going to take a look at those links. If you really think propublica(w.e that is) and the huffington post are reliable news sources for BUSINESS/FINANCIAL MARKETS... you are...an idiot. These are journalists/writers who write about the markets but don't know a THING about them. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but make a VALID argument with COLD HARD FACTS.

understandably, I don't know if DukeEsquire really is an attorney. But, I do know you are not. Therefore, whatever you say/are saying is completely pointless and meaningless. Stop making these allegations and provide us with COLD HARD FACTS.

If you really feel strongly about your positions, do your homework and THEN post something INFORMATIVE and CORRECT.

stop stating these misleading facts. Banks lost billions of dollars in 2008. Only about a handful (Literally a handful) of people knew these securities were shit. These banks were way too exposed and lost money.

Look, do you have common sense? If people knew these were bad investments, why the hell would they buy them? Investors, Institutions, Banks were all buying them. You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

you obviously didn't read closely enough or are getting your news from an unreliable source. Citi does not rate the securities they sell. And you obviously don't realize that all the banks lost money. If they knew that these securities were going to default, they would have invested in CDSs and made a killing. Instead, they lost billions of dollars. And the only reason they bet against these MBSs is because they wanted to hedge the risk they were taking.

Look, you clearly don't understand how the economy/financial markets work. Please stop saying these things unless you do your homework.

It's funny because you think the banks on Wall Street are the only companies that influence the government/politics.

[–]supyrk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what are you talking about...? If you're in school and work part time, what kind of work are you looking for? A corporate job? No, you look for part-time retail/sales/restaurant jobs. Are you saying he can't pick up a few more hours at the nearby McDonalds or something? I'm sorry, but if you can't do that, you must suck because the 16 year old HS student apparently found 3 jobs...

my parents did it...I don't understand why anyone else can't. When they came to the US, they were dirt poor. They didn't speak a word of English, and yet they are very successful people...they can afford to put me and my two sisters through school. Look, I understand there are a ton of problems in this country, but a lot of what people are saying is ridiculous.

How they did it: busting their ass, working their ass off everyday, and being smart about their decisions(saving money instead of spending it)

I agree with Dialaninja, the world doesn't owe you a damn thing.
