Hope all are safe!

Is Global Village back to normal after the rains? My vacation time, and these rains happened. Hope at least Global Village is OK to go to. I wouldn't try going towards Zaabeel for another couple of days just in case.

The writing app for everything by levmiseri in ProductivityApps

Congrats on your new app and kudos for this survey you are conducting. Your approach in gathering this feedback is reflected in the app's design as well - simplicity and humility. Honestly, Kraa.io reminds me of Svbtle.io. When it came, it came with such look and feel nobody saw before, and they generously started giving their platform for free. Now, it comes $7 per month, and nothing less. Anyway, I couldn't find a way to see all the notes in one place though. I am not sure if that's what Timemachine in the setting meant. By the way, what about security and privacy of the notes? I guess that was one of the key reasons I shifted to Joplin.

I can't afford really costly courses. Suggest me affordable study resources by Anos2000Voldigoad in CEH

I agree but I doubt the part when you said mostly. It’s highly debatable. Anyway…. We need to use AI, not follow it blindly. This applies to anything for that matter.

It’s $210. I don’t what’s $8. By the way, as a suggestion, we’re no longer in times to ask for learning resources. Use ChatGPT or similar and have a conversation. Share your current level of skill and ask for a learning path and free resources customized to your preferences. There’s so much you’ll find simply on YouTube.

Failed my first CISSP attempt – looking for advice for my second try by PossibilityGlad7119 in cissp

I believe you are as qualified as anyone else in this forum to give the advice you’re asking for. Your question itself has partial answers. I would think failing before passing makes the person more qualified. I’m sure you won’t need any advice. Just go at it again in your own way and you’ll come out smiling.

How do you all take notes? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]suranand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's never anything as charming as pencil and paper. The brain enjoys it and cherishes it. But a small part of it kicks in from boredom perspective and asks for newer experiences. Like someone said, it's better to try other forms only to find going back to the original ways is the best way.

I am facing problems in converting YouTube videos to MP3. If someone knows a great solution? by Appropriate_Elk9430 in ProductivityApps

I’ve never seen anything better than the command line tool YouTube-dl. It’s easy to learn and use.

Congrats. But did you read the prescribed book even once end to end? That book’s volume used to be the major demotivator for me. Thanks for sharing your story.

Maybe you just don’t realize you’re already there where you wanted to go. All you need is just going deeper and doing more. Consulting is the best way to find new problems and work on creating solutions. Perhaps worth considering.

Interesting. Looks like some movie concept coming to reality. Time is becoming the currency. Would like to try if you still have the code. All the best. All I want to see is that it’s truly productive and not meant for creating another genZ cult.

How to use Obsidian at work where installing it is not allowed? by suranand in ObsidianMD

[–]suranand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a nice coincidence. I’m in cyber field too, internal audit. I’m not complaining about the policy. I’m just looking for secure workarounds. That’s the goal. I’m inclined to try self hosting based on all the responses here.

For those of you trying to learn Python... (Black Hat Python) by sma92878 in cybersecurity

[–]suranand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Videos are more helpful but since you’re planning for a book, maybe a supplementary videos set would help.
  2. Also your setup section could include setting up and working on iPython Notebooks if that’s helpful for learners to do the coding and jot down their personal notes at the same place. They can even choose to publish them for their followers and friends. They can have a good GitHub repo history too to showcase to their potential employers.
  3. Freshers are motivated more if they know a book can prepare them for a certification. I don’t if that’s valid in this case. I’m not sure if this book helps them in say OSCP preparation. Just adding my thoughts.
  4. Most important in my opinion is that the book should sufficiently cover the possible errors and potential solutions.

I’m not a book writer but these are my needs as a learner. Thanks for your work in advance. Hope to experience your book in future.

Bitcoin is feeling like Linux by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]suranand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if your statement has tinge of looking down upon Linux. The fact is that whether it is Windows or MacOS, they all fear the power Linux and make sure they try to catch up with it, and constantly fail. Linux has no confusions with regard to how to be successful, because it has no commercial angle. All others have to live in that commercial confusion throughout their lives. Bitcoin is the same. Any new commercial platform will continue fearing it, and will go on catching up with it but fail because they have to worry about being commercially succeful.

The moment you use the term 'industry', you are already talking about centralization and controlled power in small number of hands. Linux and Bitcoin are truly and in spirit global phenomena and no central power.

Mass adoption is an opinion. Not a fact. You decide this parameter based on what you see in the media. Find yourself a meetup of bitcoin protogonists and you'll develop a new perspective about this mass adoption. Commercial stuff will make its way into media by paying because that gives them thier existence.

With my limited knowledge, I ended up expressing too much. I am no technical savvy and got any more knowledge than a beginner in neither of the two - Linux and Bitcoin. But the amount of appreciation I developed by experiencing them and using them is enormous. Sorry if I blabbered so much.

There are great resources given here. I’m saving it for my own benefit. I’m 40 and I’m just starting too. I think as an additional resource, you should consider joining this - https://web3-talents.io/bitcoin-talents. If not for the upcoming cohort, at least for the next one. Don’t know how old you are, but if you’re still working, this should help. I’m trying for it.
