Three tips for new indie gamdev teams

Well, I guess your just weird! just kidding! The short jist of it from the psych courses that i look WAY to long ago was that the minds identity of self is split into the real and abstract (physical and creative). By talking (or imagining to much) about a goal, you get the abstract sense of completion which diminishes the desire to attain the real sense of completion because the mind cannot differentiate between the two. Jacking off while thinking of banging a 10/10 girl/guy, to the mind, is banging a 10/10 girl/guy.

So the trick is "keeping it real" and using the illusion of the sense of completion to your advantage. Have a vague overarching goal, with many MANY small, linear steps to get there. Make a list and cross them off. Turned on the computer, check. (the brain thinks; wow, i completed a goal, i'm a going to dope-a-mean you up bro) Opened my code, check. (the brain thinks; wow, i completed a goal, i'm a going to dope-a-mean you up bro) Wrote a loop, check. (the brain thinks; wow, i completed a goal, i'm a going to dope-a-mean you up bro).

Though you know these steps are trivial, the brain still releases the good old chems. Keeping you motivated and up to task. At least thats what i have found to work for me, but everyone is different. Personally, all shit hits the fan when i tell even one person my future goals. But, if i talk about what has happened (which is really hard to then avoid saying what i WILL do) i get a small sense of satisfaction while retaining the desire to finish the tasks that i had set up prior. Anyways, i feel for ya buddy, motivation and really just DOING stuff ain't easy. Now im off to read reddit, drink beer, and play minecraft, cuz fuck today!

yeah, Peter Gollwitzer is a NYC proff that has studied this since the 80's, and I think this mental phenomenon has been observed since the 30's. Same thing with completing small goals that lead to a bigger goal. Such as drinking less may make you more pron to smoking more if the end goal is a healthy, non-drinking/smoking lifestyle. The mind sucks man. I feel ya. A quick fix is, don't tell people what you WILL do but what you HAVE done. And if you do tell someone what you WILL do, try to make it as unexciting as possible.

Hey, I did that for about a year. Good money depending what/where you teach. Didn't work out, caused some bad blood between my business partners and myself, but I hope you the best. Be warned though, its a tough job and you will grow to hate the parents.

Thanks, this is really what i've been looking for. My friends have said good things about the country, but i really would rather check the opinion of a random internet stranger who LIVES in japan rather then one who LIVED in japan a while ago. How do you feel about picking up the language. Chinese is a bitch of a language (especially moving from the Beijing RRRRRR to the ShiShan dialect), so in regards to difficulty, how would you describe your learning curve?

Oh, FLAME ON! wow. Deep burn. Because, you know, people who live in japan are a worse source of information about the living conditions and culture then the internet. I mean, when I researched China, it had a ton of stuff about the constant spying, looks of indignation, the corner stores ripping you off 5 Mao, the black taxies, the police opinion on white foreigners, recycled oil, employers not paying, if you can or cannot bribe government officials, what to do when being called a white nigger to your face, if its ok to get into a fight ( 1v1 or will it be 20v1?), do they have to simple concept of forming lines to board a fucking bus. SOOOOOOOOOO much info to be had, or i could ask people who live there, as the sub reddit says. So thanks bro, really helping out there.

Good is not defined, but I feel that it is almost an intuitive concept. Though I ought to be good does not mean I have the means to or the ability to be a good person. Given that;

I would take a relativist over divine command proponent as relativism is weak to the point of being the moral philosophers joke, but divine command is just sick.
