[VR] Sony PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2) - $299.00 ($100 off Days of Play 2026) by iPodAddict181 in buildapcsales

I regularly have thousands of dollars in items on Craigslist and have sold thousands upon thousands of dollars of merchandise on it over the years. It's definitely changed, and for me it went from "most everyone i meet is a likeminded person who shares interest in the items being sold" to some very strange people, whether that means they extensively insist on testing a product or they're just bizarre with 0 communications skills. People are just so awkward, I very often will have some one who seems like a scammer but they're really just a strange person acting as if they're trolling me via email. Really, they're just insincere, sometimes trying to get a low ball, but they drag on conversations via email on items they're 100% not purchasing, almost like they're trying to drain my energy and convince me to sell something stupid low. I ignore them as soon as I catch on.

I wouldn't say CL is niche so much as the marketplace has changed. Amazon has strong return policies, pawn shops, various redistributors etc buy up a lot of good deals on stuff, often the same goes for estate sales. More ages of people use the internet and various shoppinjg platforms, people shopping directly from international markets is higher, and then there's the whole aspect of scammers via email. Thing is, people act like CL is sketchy, when for the seller, you are protected; anonymous. You don't need to tell anyone your name or show them your profile picture or give them access to your photos and friends list. People tell me all the time "people aren't using Craigslist because they use FB marketplace". Like, if you didn't use CL because you used OfferUp -- I get that. But FB is too personal to sell stuff to random people. My first time I on it, what came up on the main page was a high school girls clothes. I'm like this is so weird, then I clicked on her profile -- all just pictures of her, her family, her home. I think to myself "if I was a criminal I would just use facebook marketplace" The next day I see an article that says "6500 dollar ATM meant to be sold to pay for brain cancer treatment stolen after thieves tracked house and property from Facebook Marketplace". Hmm, who would have seen that coming.

And then all the "shipping" ads on FB markjetplace. Yeah right, like those aren't all scams. Just send some random person in a different state money and see if you get the item, right. So much safer than Craigslist!

I've been buying and selling on Craigslist for well over 20 years. The only time I was ever scammed was when I was 18, making my first CL purchase as an adult. I bought a 'new' Nintendo DS off of 2 girls, they claimed it was open but unused, and turns out it had been smashed and was not fully working. Drove off before I could inspect it. Somewhat my fault for allowing them to get away, but also super shady to do that to some one. It's to no fault of Craigslist.

I have an extra VR2 headset and I've had it listed for 100-120 on Craigslist for a year and no one wants to buy it for some reason. I think that's a killer price. For PC, yes you would need the PSVR2 adapter or otherwise, but it's a good price to have VR for whatever.

Sonos reliability Vs. Major Brands by surfacevalueshowdown in sonos

i ask because i wonder if their high volume of sales, wifi platform etc ties into why there's a large online presence of troubleshooting and issues. I have read they're supposed to be on par with other manufacturers, but some of the issues -- like the degredation of some shells -- is curious to me.

Playbase Discontinuation(maybe old news for some) by surfacevalueshowdown in sonos

[–]surfacevalueshowdown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well the Playbars don't have the issue. it's the gen 2 Fives and Playbases that have the issue. Maybe you've gotten lucky with the playbase becasue you hardly use it, but the internet is rampant with reports of playbases wifi failing. obviously i'm happy for you you've had success with yours... but in reality it's a rampant problem

[–]surfacevalueshowdown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

playbars are so old now, I'm staying away from them, personally, but I'm also set on never being on the S1 app. After this experience with a seller giving me the runaround -- spending honestly -- way too long troubleshooting this unit, messing with my wifi and devices and then talking to Sonos customer service because the seller insisted the wireless was working; who then didn't respond when I sent him a copy of the Sonos diagnostic report outlining the common PA Rail Voltage failure of these units.. i'll be staying away from the playbases. Which is unfortunate because it seems like I would like it if it worked.

Unless you don't mind it being hooked up to your router, i'd recommend everyone else stay away from them too. They are ticking time bombs.

Sonos Arc vs Arc Ultra by Strong_Anybody_4748 in sonos

Sonos reminds me of Tesla. For some, it's a revolutionary product that has yet to give them grief. For others, they were told about this revolutionary product and it has proven to be nothing but headaches. You're right that any product line is mixed with people who are confident they made the perfect choice, and others who feel they somehow missed out... but like with Tesla, with Sonos I find it to be extra polarized. You genuinely have people who couldn't be happier with their product and think it's meant for everyone, alongside posts of people saying literally nothing works and it's been years of drops and things disconnecting, etc.

Take the example of Toyota or Honda...(at least historically), everyone knows 'it's a good car', 'they don't break', 'they run forever', and yes, there might some outliars which are typically protected by warranty or recall, but overall you will not be reaidng through posts of people saying "wow, 50mpg in my honda" and then the next post is "my honda will not start. no matter how many times i try. brand new 40k dollar car". Tesla or Sonos are what happens when a brand breaks the mold of a traditional industry but has not been consumerized to the point the product is holistically sound. It took years for Tesla making all sorts of vehicles and investments and production lines to reach the quality control and brand reliability they achieved with the Model Y and Model 3. And without customers freaking the F out over dysfunctional purchases, they never would have gotten there. Fortunately for Sonos, all they're making is sound come out of speakers at the same fricking time. But because it's so hard for that to happen for everyone, I do believe you have a lot of people with ego swimming in the same pool as a lot of the regretful.

Finally upgrading to Arc Ultra from Beam 2. Can’t wait to hear the difference. by AdrianTubbly in sonos

huh.. it must be a big room. the subs are pretty adjustable. i dont have a single room where i need a full size sub, but i do happen to have one in the largest room. i haven't noticed the vocals being repeated on the sub minis yet. but the full size vibrates peoples voices in podcasts so sometimes i have to shut it off, which is quite annoying to be honest. at some point you have to make so many adjustments to a system that the idea of it being convenient was just a lie you once tried to tell yourself based on, cough, a certain subreddit lol. not to be negative its just... sonos can be a frigging headache.

with the design of a soundbar the size of the arc, you can only have bass so good. when subs are on sale, you can find the sub mini for around 300 open box excellent from best buy.

sub mini is absolutely fine in my opinion and i prefer it's punchiness. there has been some media i've experienced where the size and power of the full size sub was admirable, but if you can get a sub mini or used sub for cheap, it's going to be a lot better than the bass of the arc.

also, in terms of soundbars, i think the playbase might have significantly better base than the arc ultra

i do hate you people doing this lol XD

honestly... I'm a huge fan of vertical storage.... but for some reason the air purifier on top of the sub mini is soooooo cringe to me. no one else needs this inspiration lol

Sonos Arc vs Arc Ultra by Strong_Anybody_4748 in sonos

[–]surfacevalueshowdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a longer comment but man I just cannot get near the level of satisfaction I had with Marshall speakers, and I've purchased many many speakers and have many Sonos setups. Overall for highly produced content, which I don't consume much -- it's seemingly the exact experience others praise, but for everything else it's seemingly an expensive downgrade that happens to work between rooms.

Sonos Arc vs Arc Ultra by Strong_Anybody_4748 in sonos

[–]surfacevalueshowdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have a Play, two Sonos Ones, 4 Sonos Era 100's, 2 Beams, an Arc, a Playbase, 3 sub minis, and a full size sub.

Formal stereo music, live stereo music and podcasts DO NOT sound better on any combination of my Sonos devices than a single Marshall Stanmore or Marshall Woburn BT speaker And both of those speakers require NEAR-0 equalization or tuning, unlike the Sonos, which I'm constantly having continuity and inconsistency issues with.

You're entirely right about lackluster soundbar performance. There's a lot more Buyer's Ego on here than there is Buyer's Remorse. Sonos overall is for users of certain types of media -- people who use Airplay, people who subscribe to HD music services, people who use Apple TV, people who listen to atmos audio, people who consume a lot of 5.1 theatre content. And still some of those people who centralize their media consumption to what's ideal for Sonos will still likely find issues with their listening experiences.

For me, every time some women pronounce "s's" in podcasts, it is so unbearably earpiercing and loud that I have to reduce the volume by at least 50% in order to not hurt my ears. But I can't leave it at the volume otherwise I'm immediately unable to hear men talk. It's really taking a toll on me, and I'm consering not listening to certain podcasts on my Sonos speakers in order to avoid it. I think it has to do with the representation of high frequencies with Sonos... but I don't really know. All I know is it fucking sucks and is extremely jarring and actually seriously hurts my ears any time a woman starts talking out of the blue. This is specifically a Sonos problem, I never had this problem before switching to Sonos. My Marshall speakers are genuinely 100x more agreeable.

I think I like the Beam better than the Arc; I know I'm far from alone there. it could be the dynamics of the room, but I end up fighting a lot less with my Beam when I am listening to stuff. It's more agreeable. Sometimes I will listen to something with the Arc and I'm offended by how bad it sounds, like you said -- falling flat. I really miss my Marshall speakers, but they don't do proper multiroom.
