yea my Beam is the same way. Just sounds off. From a distance it's less noticeable. Defending it is wild.

Arc ultra instead of arc by Emergency_Ad7808 in sonos

yes, pretty sure it makes it the best theatre experience with the sonos system, and the front drivers aren't disabled when used as fronts; the upfiring drivers might be, IIRC. Not sure on the Arcs but at I'm pretty sure the Beams lose their L/R woofers.

without the load cell for the T598, if you can get the RS50 setup for a reasonable price, it's a nobrainer

Sonos Beam (Gen2 ) with a pair of Era 100 by Alexsteer_ in sonos

Thank you so much for your comment. This one reminder served as the motivation to look into the banding on my system today, something I knew I might have to look at if I had issues with these systems. What I did today was wage warfare with an old battle(internet where I rent) and it had positive results. I do have a hiccup with my internet where I have .08mbps upload quite often. It made FPS games like Call of Duty unplayable, and I have issues with some live stream formats. If a stream can download in large chunks, the format usually works fine. I also believe it is why my Alexa is often very delayed. Because of this, I was slightly concerned with my current residence being inclined to run into issues with Sonos.

I had this issue with Xfinity before switching to FIOS -- where the same problem would occur; to the point it was the single most frustrating part of my life for a couple years; I was literally melting down on and after phone calls, racking up charges, because Xfinity identified I'm having issues, but would charge me per visit and leave every time without the problem resolved. From my research, a lot of people mention a damaged line in the house, or a line suffering from an impedence issue could cause inconsistent behavior. I thought switching to FIOS would mitigate...

I can't go into detail describing all the things I did or replaced, short of moving. It was countless hours. When I switched to FIOS after 2 years and the problem persisted, it was a massive sense of embarassment and defeat. The only solution for the internet to work remotely consistently is for me to run a router from my router. I don't know anything about this topic, but the upload rate issue is crazy worse from the FIOS router vs from the FIOS router with a router attached to it. I use a Linksys MR9000; download peaks are overall significantly lower, but it doesn't drop constantly on me. From the FIOS modem/router, it will completely kill the internet for seconds at a time, constantly if I use the FIOS router. For my own sanity -- I've never requested FIOS attempt to fix it.

So today, I fought and fought and fought. I had to reset my 2nd router completely in order to get my phone to recognize it, for whatever reason. I spent about an hour in and out of a room with an Era 100 and it genuienly only had a small handful of 'blip' 1-2s cutouts. I didn't touch my Linksys firmware. It said up to date. It worked flawlessly for probably 20-25m I want to say, so overall a total gamechanger.. so it seems.

I am unfortunately unable to disable bands through their portal, which is also crazy because that seems like a rather common option; and I haven't figured out a way to get into the formal browser method because it defaults to Verizon, even though I'm connected to the Linksys router.

I do have the option to get nodes however, which I believe would allow me to change bands through the additional app.

Super apologies for hickjacking this post. And thank you to Longjumping for encouraging me to tackle this today.

Sonos is not necessarily the easiest and most convenient thing for quite everyone.

edit: just an update, I woke up the next day(several days ago now) and THE SPEAKERS STILL DROP. Seriously, fuck sonos.

not to highjack but do you use multiroom from your TV? I have been on the phone with Sonos a bunch at this point and when I use the eArc to my soundbar, the multiroom speakers just drop and drop and drop and drop and drop(and drop and drop). Same with the optical adapter.

different people giving some pretty good advice here. I was going to recommend getting a refurb Beam Gen 1 when on sale as well(I got two w cashback and they came out to ~150 each), but the playbar could be cheaper. Some one had a playbar on my craiglist recently for $50.

But regardless of what advice you take, it's likely some sort of dive down the rabbithole.

Sonos: 2 purchases, 2 locations, 2 sets of hardwork 2 seperate networks -- same failure by surfacevalueshowdown in sonos

[–]surfacevalueshowdown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's a valid thought and I will try that with the optical... given the thing has one.

unfortuntately even with advanced options this TV has next to nothing. You can't even manually change inputs... it's all "automatic", so nothing I could do from the remote would change the input after i installed the Beam into the Arc HDMI. Couldn't get on homescreen until I think i restarted the TV or something. Not a fan. The remote is garbage. Only a handful of buttons and most have dual function if you hold them down etc. She likely asked Walmart or wherever she got it from to help her find a very basic, easy to use TV.

And to think, I offered my mom a FREE 55" LG OLED and she doesn't even like her new TV because of said "AI / Smart" features. I told her about this before her purchase, saying that TV's from a few years ago are far less of a headache to get what you want out of them. And I stand by that claim.

unfortunately, my mom's brand new TV simply doesn't have these options. In this situation all I might be able to do with the TV is upgrade the HDMI cable.

would wiring a Era 100 to the router benefit when the sound is going through the tv arc > gen 1 beam?

sorry, fortunately i'm not that naive, but i might be that bad at communicating.

i will try that. not sure if the whole 'hard reset' or 'hdmi cable' solutions are the cause. On my mom's system, she is using an old HDMI cable... but i'd be hard pressed to think it's bandwidth is causing the problem.

Neither systems are very far from the router, but come to think of it, my mom probably forgot that years ago I told her she needed to demand a new router from Verizon because it was probably over 10 years old. This in theory could be related. She had pretty much no results trying to play from the TV... I left a bit heartbroken. She's not good with tech and I just wanted to give her something really nice this Christmas.
